I like U2 and Coldplay. What's the point of this thread again?
  2. 15 Steps is OK. It's the marching band idea that I am not very excited about. But we'll see...
  3. I often doubt information when it is posted on message boards, but it at least appears that the 15 Steps w/ USC marching band story has some traction. If that is the case, it just doesn't excite me that much. We'll see how it turns out, and I could be incredibly wrong, but I think it sounds cheesy. Of course, no matter what, the Radiohead elitists will say it is the most brilliant thing ever.
  4. I don't like this lawyer, but Coldplay should have just accepted the papers. This thing is not going to go away. What a freaking mess this has become.
  5. ^ Glad you had a good time. I have met them as well, and they are all a great bunch of guys. I look forward to your stories.
  6. Just an interesting note for those who like Blink 182. Tom, Mark, and Travis will present an award together at the upcoming Grammys. Obviously, this will continue to spur on the reunion talk, which I think will eventually happen. I like Blink 182 - they are one of my guilty pleasures. I thought their last album was their best, too.
  7. ^ That doesn't make the Grammy's corrupt. It is an American award show, what do you expect? Naturally, the people voting on the award show will be most familiar with the music they are surrounded by in America. Some degree of inherent bias is different from corruption. Plus, Coldplay does just fine in America. Last I checked, most of their U.S. shows were sold out.
  8. Predicting who will win a Grammy is impossible. I know a family where the husband actually gets a Grammy ballot because he is in the music industry. I can assure you, his taste is not rap or alternative music. You have to think about the people behind the scenes who are actually voting on the awards. The person I am speaking of is a sound engineer. I doubt that he is really plugged into what is hip or innovative in the industry. I have not talked to him, but looking at the nominees, my guess is that he voted for Plant/Krauss, but it is purely a guess. So it all comes down to the opinions of the judges.
  9. I always tell people to go see The Killers live before they pass judgment. If you have seen them live, and still don't like them, then I respect your opinion. But most people who have seen them live have grown to love them...including myself.
  10. ^ For me, In Rainbows is good, but not as great as some people are making it out to be. It is not even in my top 3 favorite Radiohead albums. I have listened to In Rainbows, Raising Sand, and Viva la Vida, and In Rainbows is my favorite in the album of the year category. However, I do not think it is one of the all time greats.

Given To Fly - Pearl Jam

    Optimistic - Radiohead
  13. No way am I letting this die. I've got too much time invested in voting "No".
  14. I can't...that makes it too easy. We already have two very good guesses. See, you can play without a line from a song.
  15. I would like to see Radiohead win it. If not Radiohead, I would like to see the Plant/Krauss album win. In fact, I think this album is a very strong contender to win album of the year. Plant is a legend, Krauss is loved by the Grammys, the album is critically acclaimed, it has amazing production, and it seems like an album that Grammy voters would dig. Viva is a good album, but I think it is a distant third in comparison to the other two. I do hope that Coldplay receive some type of recognition, but I do not think they deserve it for album of the year.
  16. BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCE! He killed it. My favorite Super Bowl half time performance of all time (and I loved U2's performance). I like a lot of the music that tries to be smart and innovative but, in the end, there is no substitute for good old fashioned rock n' roll.
  17. I love a lot of the bands playing, and live fairly close to Coachella, but I doubt I will be attending that festival. 100 degree weather during the day, and 40 degree weather at night. Alternating between sunburn and freezing is not my idea of a good time.
  18. ^ That's always the case with The Killers. Their music always takes on a new dynamic after it is heard live. I have liked Day and Age all along, but I heard 4 of 10 songs live on the day of release. This is not to say that I love everything on the CD but, overall, I would say it is a pretty solid album.
  19. :D Somehow I don't think he is marketing the Venti Mocha Latte crowd. Bruce's crowd is more the Dunkin' Donuts type. Although Magic was sold in Starbucks.
  20. It's hard to recommend a Springsteen album because his style is so varied. I would recommend getting "The Essential Bruce Springsteen" (which goes beyond greatest hits) and then exploring the sound that you like best. Three classic albums are: Born to Run, The River, and Born in the USA. Remember to get yourself a lyrics sheet, as Springsteen is one of the greatest storytellers of all time. The Wal-Mart controversy is over the fact that his latest greatest hits album is a Wal-Mart exclusive. Bruce is a big pro-union and workers rights advocate, which has caused some to criticize him for going with an organization that has a history of questionable employee practices. He has recognized this fact and said he made a mistake.

  23. Huh? What are you talking about? I'm American and that's not the song I want.
