I posted something similar in the North American Presale thread. Ticketmaster sponsors a lot of these scalper sites. Of course, they don't use the word "Scalping", as they predetermine a cost and "management fees" for the sites are rolled in. Ticketmaster realized everyone was buying up front row seats and scalping them ages ago for every concert available, so they figured they'd cash in on it. So instead of putting the face value of a front row seat at $800 for concets, they put the face value at $95 instead, and simply "sell" those seats at that price to the scalper sites. Or they call it a one-price "auction" to get around the scalping laws. So, the sites in turn charge $800 for those premium seats, and the rich folks who can afford things like that simply plonk down the cash and the ticket is theirs. And Ticketmaster gets the revenue because they sponsor the sites. And chances are they'll sell all of those $800 seats. Of course, that's a conservative estimate, I've seen some front row individual seats for shows (The Police, Springsteen, Coldplay, Genesis) go for $2000. Supply and demand, my friends. But the fans with minimal cash (like me) get screwed. I hate how the world works sometimes.

2009 North American Tour ... presale???
That's why I don't like Ticketmaster. They realized everyone was scalping seats to their shows years back, so they sponsored these ticket broker sites, and are basically scalping their own seats and pocketing the cash. I don't believe for one second that all these seats go to tehe promoters or sponsors. I'm sure TM kicks some "to the side" for these sister sites to sell for $400 each and the money goes back to TM. Sickening....

2009 North American Tour ... presale???
Same here Emmbeedee, I had a similar experience. Ended up settling for seats in Dallas, section DDD. It's way up top, only about 4 rows from the lawn, but the seats are reserved and the view should be decent. Plus, these amphitheaters hold far less people than the arenas do, so even if you're up top, you're probably closer than similar seats in a jam-packed arena.

2009 North American Tour ... presale???
I have my ticketrush password for tomorrow's Dallas presale, but do I actually go there to order the tickets, or go to Ticketmaster instead? Or Live Nation instead?

Coldplay on 60 Minutes | Sunday 8 Feb | 7pm ET/PT on CBS [FULL VIDEO IN FIRST POST]
As someone who loves to spin records (I have Viva La Vida and X&Y on vinyl), I was excited to see rule #8 on that studio list, which mentions that promos are sent on vinyl because they look and sound the best! Woo-hoo ! :)

2009 North American Tour ... presale???
I visited the TicketRush website and registered. Now each time I login, I see the following message: "This month's password is VENUE. You must have this password when you place an order. Without it, you will not be able to purchase tickets." So that's the monthly password. If somehow everyone gets a different password, then I can say OOPS! and register for another with another email address. But anyway, that's what is now on the TicketRush homepage when I login. So I guess I visit livenation.com the morning of the presale, then enter the TicketRush password in the appropriate box? Hmm...

I sent Ticketmaster a question email form, asking about what type of presale is taking place for these tickets. They should respond soon. In the meantime, they offered a generic response, which is pretty much what we already knew: Pre-sales and promotions are targeted to specific groups of people, such as fan club members or other defined groups of customers. Pre-sale and promotion access is typically controlled by a password, which is specific to each event and is provided to consumers directly through the promoters of the event or the sponsors of the pre-sale, and not Ticketmaster. All available information regarding pre-sale access and/or promotion codes/passwords is posted on the ticket ordering page of our website for each specific event. Ticketmaster Customer Service Representatives cannot provide passwords, and it is important to point out that your Ticketmaster My Account password is not valid for pre-sale access. Hopefully they'll respond with more concrete information.....

Lisa, when I visited ticketmaster.com, the wordage was simply "internet presale" for Friday Feb 13th. Then it mentioned "general sale" on Saturday Feb 14th, so I know what you mean. I was trying to figure this out too. Usually ticketmaster puts additional wordage, such as "AMEX presale", "Fan club", "Best Buy", etc. I wonder if they are letting everyone participate in the internet presale, and any tickets left would be available at the walk-up windows the next day? I know, it's an odd theory....but we may no know until the morning of. Hmm....

Greetings From Texas!
Hey everyone -- New member here. Just wanted to say "hi" and look forward to having fun with everyone on this forum! Although I heard of Coldplay for years, I unfortunately never paid much attention to their music. When "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends" came out last year, I gave it a shot because of Brian Eno's involvement. I was absolutely floored at the album. It was polished, mature, somewhat dark in places....yet hopeful and full of life and energy....absolutely brilliant. I never pick and choose certain tracks off the album to listen to. I either listen to the entire album at once or not at all. It's a complete package to me. I fell in love with it instantly and carried the torch for Coldplay since. I was fortunate enough to see the band in Dallas in November, and it was breathtaking. Then I heard they were coming back in July 2009 (tickets go onsale this Friday) and I plan on seeing them again. Their last show in Dallas was outstanding. This one will be even better! So anyway, I'm a late bloomer regarding Coldplay, but have gone into their back catalog and listened to what I've missed over the years, and I love it all. And I came across this forum a few times on internet searches, so I figured it was time to jump in and meet other fans. I'm here in beautiful Austin, TX. I have two adorable children and love all kinds of music, especially Genesis (Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Tony Banks), The Killers, Steve Winwood, Neil Diamond, etc. All kinds. Glad to meet you all !!
