  1. The Lightning Strike- Snow Patrol
  2. ^so THAT'S what he does when Coldplay's not touring! :P the hockey game was incredible. I was actually hoping for Canada to win (it being their home turf, and all) but by the end, I was excited for Team USA. I don't even watch hockey- ever- and I was completely enthralled. I'm looking forward to watching more! So did Moir and Virtue take the gold? I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but if they did, that's awesome!
  3. this is a kind of amusing article about the different types of LOST fans... http://www.tv.com/story/21490.html I've skimmed thru the thread, so forgive me if I'm asking about something that's already been discussed, but... - so far in the parallel timeline, we've seen that John still apparently has a relationship with his father (his fiancee mentions inviting his dad to the wedding); Hurley has good luck, rather than bad; and Shannon wasn't even on Oceanic 815. Yet Kate is still wanted (for something) and Claire still intends to give up her baby for adoption. I'm curious as to why some things off island changed drastically and others didn't. anyone have any ideas?
  4. 'night!
  5. :D I'm great, thanks! and thanks for the pics! Are you excited for allll the fabulous new live shots we'll get when the tour starts?! Edit: goodnight! talk to you later!
  6. Hey Marisa! hope you're doing well :nice: I'm sorry I can't post pics, I'm not on my computer. :(
  7. ^I don't speak portuguese, Juan :P Something about them not wanting to play music people are unfamiliar with because they don't often get to Brazil (?) is that about right?
  8. ^^^:dance::dance:!!! Just saw the interview and that bit actually made me squuueeeee!!!
  9. Ahhhh!! That was an awesome interview. loooooved it and loved hearing they hope to have the album out by christmas!! Can't wait for the LA tour to start... think they'll try out some new songs??
  10. a song called, "Now That I Found You" by Terri Clark. It's not a bad song, I just don't think I'd choose it again if I had it to do over. @Cobalt- 'Today' is a great song... sorry about the rest :(
  11. Anyone watching the Olympics tonight? 'Take Back the City' was prominently played over a little profile they did on one of the US hockey players. @Meredith- what is their new song? I think the only song I know by them is "the man who..."
  12. Alison, you're exactly right. I had such a strong association between him and the movie, I completely forgot he had DIRECTED it, rather than starred in it. :embarrassed:
  13. ^Lenny Kravitz is actually quite good live, Michael... I think you'll like him. but yeah, I hate when the support band you REALLY want to see is not performing at the show you're seeing. :dozey:
  14. ^I completely agree with you, particularly with Franny and Zooey. I'd also second the recommendation for To Kill a Mockingbird. It's a classic piece of American literature and is just an amazing story. I HIGHLY recommend One Hundred Years of Solitude or Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. They have a lot of magical realism, which some people don't love, but they are both incredible stories. This one is not exactly modern, but try also Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. It's dark... about a man who commits murder basically to see if he can get away with it. I haven't read it in years, but it made a huge impression on me when I first read it.
  15. Shawshank, Shawshank, Shawshank. he was also excellent in Dead Man Walking.
  16. Yes, I loved your mix, thanks!! And I'm glad you've had a chance to listen to the one I made for you... I was worried you hadn't gotten it! Looking forward to hearing what you thought about it! :nice: (oh, and I was once a Toriphile, too! :D)
  17. THE SCRIPT won for best live performance?! that seems... odd. Not that I've ever seen them, but against U2 and SP?? But honestly, it would have been :awesome: if SP had won that category over U2. Don't get me wrong, I love U2 and of course, they put on incredible live shows, but SP is able to accomplish an incredible live show without all the extra bells and whistles. :wacky: Congrats to them for winning "Best Irish Band"! Edit: @Elena- I completely agree with what you said about "An Olive Grove..." the perfect version would be one that had the original instrumentation and Gary's vocals on the 2009 version! :wacky: and oh, yes, love the new avi and sig, too!!
  18. Hi ladies! I'm not staying, but just wanted to say hello, and lovely pictures, as ever! Carol, I loooooove that picture and it looks so lovely framed! :wacky: I'd love to look at something like that hanging on my wall everyday, but I don't think my husband would appreciate it! :P Enjoy it!! awww, Brooke! the video of Chris pointing out your awesome puppets! :D Hope you guys are all well... talk to you later!
  19. I want to not care, and if he was more like Dennis Rodman (god, does anyone here remember who that is?) this wouldn't have been a big deal. but it's like mark said, he sold himself as this clean living family man. Also, the fact that it was SO many skan.. uh, women, makes it a bigger deal. blech.
  20. @Alison- that David Gray song is lovely, and a great choice! ooooohhhhhhh..... I hadn't heard this song in years and it's so gorgeous.... and sad. :( My husband and I don't have a song that's officially our song, but this is one we've both always loved. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEdhPfs8--Q&feature=related]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEdhPfs8--Q&feature=related[/ame] That is the song we *should* have danced to at our wedding. Instead, we danced to a country song we both liked at the time. :\
  21. I don't know if anyone remembers this song, but... In a Big Country- Big Country :wacky:
  22. I want to download a few more, but just wanted to say thanks to AnnaElisabeth, Erika (Yellowtalking), and Clem (Vitaamine) for getting me interested in Florence + the Machine, The Postal Service, Imogen Heap, Arcade Fire, White Lies, Animal Collective, Metric, Goldfrapp, Kings of Convenience, Miike Snow, and many others!
  23. The Lightning Strike is probably my favorite. It's definitely epic, but I also love that each section, taken on its own, is beautiful. Speaking of, does anyone know if there are separate mp3s of each part? And OK, I take back what I said about An Olive Grove. Now that I've had the chance to listen to it a bit, I do actually really like the original. The Up To Now version is pretty, but missing something... and thus, is not as appealing as the original. Thank you, Michael. ;) Kimmi, it's funny that you refer to Run as a modern day classic. I know so few people here who even know it. Of course, when they hear it, they love it, but I don't think it's nearly as well known here as it is in Europe. And thanks for being sweet enough to imagine rubber duckies flying... I was imagining more along the lines of books and rocks! poor little duckie. you missed, though. :P Oh, and as for the Set the Fire to the Third Bar love going around, I completely agree... and I think that's probably my favorite SP video. Gary is AWESOME in it!!
  24. We'll agree to disagree on that one! :P Again, it's a great melody and sweet lyrics, but a little too repetitive for my taste!
