  1. You're not the only one, absolutely agree. After a few listens to the song I can't help but not get addicted to it, it's Coldplay after all, but deep down this isn't the kind of stuff I would like them to be producing. I love the rest of Ghost Stories, Oceans especially, and it would be a shame if this song takes all the attention and reinforces people's perception that the band have 'sold out' and become more poppy.
  2. Fantastic night! Charlie Brown was possibly the best live performance I've ever seen. Check out my photo's! :) http://rdgsmith.wordpress.com/2013/12/20/coldplay-and-kids-company-host-under-1-roof-at-hammersmith-apollo-london/
  3. Absolutely stunning! The minute Jonny's ringing guitar comes in, you know it's a classic. Really think it could be among their best yet. Great to hear something more like AROBTTH, but at the same time it's completely different. The soundscapes are beautiful - Sigur Ros standard! Forget Paradise and Princess of China. THIS is why I love Coldplay.
  4. The background music in the trailer sounds a bit b-side Coldplayish, a bit like Pour Me..
  5. I won't care about losing the British Single one, PoC probably doesn't deserve to get it anyway, but I'll be so nervous when they announce British Live Act! Coldplay really deserve to win that. Imagine if Muse or the Rolling Stones win...I'll be so upset!
  6. I saw Garbage this year at Bilbao BBK Live (I was mainly there for Radiohead and The Cure). They were pretty good live!
  7. For anyone who comes across this thread still, the book which mentions Lily a lot is Coldplay: Look at the Stars by Phil O'Brien. It seems like she had a decent relationship with Chris, far more so than I ever realised before reading the book. Apparently the subsequent break-up inspired Warning Sign.

  9. Also, anyone in the UK, the Radio Times says that Top of the Tops Christmas Special will feature an exclusive recording of Paradise. Tune in everyone! It starts in 5 minutes.
  10. Merry Christmas Coldplayers! Did anyone get any Coldplay related gifts? I got: 2013 Official Calendar, 2010 Unofficial Calendar as a collectors item, Brothers and Sisters single CD, Clocks single CD, and a Coldplay mug! :)
  11. In front is Jonny Buckman on the 'Princess of China' band Cold Play who are touring New Zealand in support of their latest album 'Xylo Myloto" *facepalm* :embarrassed:
  12. If Chris Evans is wrong what on earth does he think he's doing?! :veryangry2: But if he's right then I'll be delighted!
  13. Great story! What car did they have? Any idea? :inquisitive:
  14. I can't enter but I got 14/15. Thought 100% was going to be easy but then that final question was a tricky one!
  15. Is anyone going to go to the exhibition? I'm intending to go on 29th November. Would be great to see some Coldplayers there! :)
  16. Will mentioned Charlie Brown as his current favourite song! Finally someone in the band appreciates it!
  17. Here's my review: First of all, what a privilege it was to have been inside the stadium tonight. It was fantastic to have seen Coldplay perform what has to have been the most important gig of their lives. And what a setlist too! After seeing the leaks online I knew they'd be taking a centre stage, but I don't think anyone expected a full 16 songs! Not only that, but it was great to see a few of the lesser known songs played, especially the comeback for 42. Being in the top tier it wasn't easy to get a close-up view of the band, but tonight was more about taking in the whole spectacle, the stadium filled with lights, wonderful imagery and of course, the music of Coldplay throughout. Unfortunately the Xylobands were limited to just the athletes on the field, although of course the pixel squares behind every seat provided more than enough colour. That being said, it was a shame that the announcer told everyone to remain seated during the ceremony; I had to curtail my instincts to jump up at every Coldplay song! The crowd were of course not a Coldplay crowd and so some songs were met with more excitement than others. Interestingly, Clocks got one of the loudest cheers of the night; suggesting it's still one of Coldplay's most recognisable songs despite the success of Paradise and Viva La Vida. Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall was the only song for which the whole crowd were standing, and despite not being my favourite Coldplay track, it worked perfectly as a closing song. Thankfully I think the Rihanna and Jay-Z collaborations worked really well. I especially liked the version of Paradise with Jay-Z. Hopefully we might hear more it? On a final note, a man I started talking to on the way home mentioned he had seen Coldplay before at Wembley and then talked about the LeftRightLeftRight album. I said I had been at the Wembley gig too but hadn't managed to grab a copy of the free CD. He then said he had a few spare copies, and would be happy to give me one! It turned out he works literally a minute away from my house, and so he gave me his business card so I could visit him to collect the CD! All in all it was incredible ceremony. A proud night to be British, a proud night to be a Coldplayer.
  18. On the ticket it says 7.30 but I take it that's because they want people in their seats well before the show starts. I'd say the show starts at 8.30. I'll try and tweet a few pictures inside the stadium when I can @RobertSmithUK
  19. Chris you're a musical genius. Rihanna is a commercial popstar who sings songs written by other people. She's the lucky one being on stage with you, not the other way round! :veryangry2:
  20. AROBTTH artwork all the way. I like the VLV cover, but it is essentially not Coldplay's work. The AROBTTH cover, and those for the singles, were innovative and creative. As for costumes, probably AROBTTH or X&Y. Loved Chris' plain white t-shirt, and the Adidas trainers! Didn't really like the VLV outfits (think I might be alone on this!).
  21. If it is Montreal, I also think they've made a good choice. The Bell Centre looks like a huge arena!
