  1. This was tweeted a bit ago: Did we mention this #Coldplay show is airing on New Year's Eve on @PBS? Chris Martin hopes you had a good Christmas. #acltv
  2. YAY! Looks like extra tickets were available or something. Oh well, I couldn't risk driving there to have just a chance of getting in. Wish I had tomorrow off work and it would have been great! Probably would have gotten into the taping and got to see the festival. Oh well, I'm sure we will get lots of reports from those that are there!
  3. Tonight is a taping for the TV show Austin City Limits. I guess there is a chance they may play those songs for the show, but I would think tomorrow is more likely at the actual Austin City Limits festival. Footage of the Austin City Limits TV show will not be released until it is shown on TV sometime in the future.
  4. Eh, so you'll just be paying ~$20 for the fact it's limited and a collectors item then. I don't particularly need those items either, but it still seems worth it to me. You could always try to sell the bits you don't want on EBay...
  5. I needed a safe haven from all the negativity! :uhoh:
  6. I know! Well at least the Will thread is a safe haven!
  7. I think it's the opposite - Will is contributing more. It was referenced numerous times way back by Roadie 42 that Will was 'experimenting' with electronic beats, loops, etc. (wonder if this began with the VIVA tour and the GPASUYF/Talk bit - which I think was Will's idea too). Also, 'Paradise' reminds me a little of 'Cry Me A River' which is Will's favourite song, lol. I know, trivia, but still. I think some of this beat business is a direct result of Will's input. He's also contributing more to vocals too.
  8. Well, I don't dislike either song so not really a problem for me, but I do find this to be an issue on almost every album I buy. I usually listen to it through a few times then just pick the ones I like and import them into iTunes for my iPod. Problem solved.
  9. Agreed. If this is truly limited, it will go for big bucks on EBay later. It would be a good investment if you needed some cash in the future and just had to sell. Like I said earlier, I think the price is worth it for what you get. Plus I'm hoping by it saying we get the MP3 album October 24th that it also applies to the US as it isn't released here until the next day. I think the book will be pretty fantastic! I'm guessing it will be 32 actual pop-ups as it says it is 64 pages total. The studio journal will probably be really interesting too. I mean the sneak pics already show ETIAW was originally called 'Drunk' which seems so 180! Hoping for more interesting trivia like that, ha! In terms of delivery for Xmas, I guess it depends where you live. But even with the slowest service here in the US (Media Mail) it says 5-9 business days which would still be before Christmas. Quantity wise, it's hard to tell. Since the delivery date is so far ahead I'm wondering if they are only taking pre-orders for a pre-determined number then it will be sold out on the website and production on the books will begin. I'm sure the pop-up books take some time to create, so this would make sense. Not sure though, only time will tell! I'm hoping this is the case though as then it will be truly a limited edition collectible.
  10. I like the song but can understand why people don't like it being from Coldplay. It is different for them, but also sort of expected in a way. After the success of Viva I think we would be idiots to really think they would either go back to a more alternative or stripped down sound rather than continue with the more mainstream pop sound. Also, we all knew Will was messing with drum machines and 'beats' so this more electronic/synth sound was kind of the direction i figured they might head after hearing all that news. It follows Viva well in terms of mainstream I guess...
  11. Aww poo, that was my chance to see the guys this time around :( Oh well, I hope you all have fun! I at least get to watch it live on the youtube link thank goodness! I wonder if any Coldplayers will win taping tickets?
  12. YES! They do overbook. It says on the site that possessing a ticket does not guarantee admission to the taping. Which brings me to your other question about Austin traffic. You'd be REALLY pushing it, like others have said, to get there for 6pm. Since the tickets are overbooked, you'd want to get there as early as you could. But like anything, it's a crap shoot. Sometimes traffic might not be bad, but one incident and it'll back up quick. Also, there is no guarantee your flights would all be on time either. I guess as a plan B you could always try renting a car from Houston and driving to Austin. It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive, but of course then you still might have the same scenario as you'd get in about the same time and possibly other traffic problems to contend with due to all the wildfires or other incidents :( Best of luck though!
  13. :shocked2: Um, YES!!!! Congrats! This was the coldplay.com contest I guess. Wow. Um, well if you need someone to go with you.... :sneaky:
  14. Unfortunately I have to work ALL DAY Friday, beginning at 6:30am no doubt! I get every other Friday off but this week just so happens to be my 'working' Friday - typical! I was thinking of just coming up Friday night for it, but by the time I would get there I'd be so far away so just don't feel like it would be worth it. I just decided to use the $90 or so I saved to buy the limited MX album version  Anyway I was kind of hoping I could get tickets to ACL since I can drive up that night and drive home and still go to work. Good thing is I would have an extra ticket if I won! :wink3:
  15. Probably, but that's just because I adore CB. I like Paradise too though. I'm thinking they went with Paradise as it's dare I say slower and more 'epic-sounding' (well at least a decent attempt) than CB... Maybe as ETIAW was so upbeat they didn't want CB.
  16. Oooh... Just some of the juicy stuff revealed in the box set! Can't wait! In a weird way, I'm sort of thankful I can't attend ACL Friday since I'm using the $90 I would have spent on a ticket for this. Seeing Coldplay in concert is fantastic, but this will last longer! Plus they will be touring next year anyway
  17. I think this is a good sign. It probably indicates it IS truly limited as they are most likely taking pre-orders to a set number, then beginning production on them. That's at least what I'm hoping! An additional plus is the fact I (hope I) get the MP3 version a day earlier since it isn't released in the States until October 25th...
  18. I don't think it's looking grim. It's just different. I've been a fan from the beginning and while they have become more commercial, I also expected it. I find I tend to like the changes between albums. Good read though.
  19. I disagree. This song is for ALL fans. They have to continue to grow and pull in new fans while also trying to keep the old without being too repetitive. It's never going to win everyone over. That's life.
  20. Now I'm not too fond of JT, but we all know this is Will's favourite song, and I wonder if he had a big influence in shaping the song with it's sort of hip-hop shuffle beat? We also KNEW that there would be some sort of electronic beats coming on this album as it was detailed numerous times that Will was playing with drum beats on his laptop, etc. I really like the song though. Sure, it's very commercial, but then again most single releases are made that way on purpose nowadays.
  21. Soooo excited!!! I want to get tickets to this as I can't make it to the festival itself (damn work!) but I can make it up there for this and drive back before work Friday. I guess the plus side is I'm using the $90 I would have used for the ACL ticket to get the deluxe version of MX, so there is a reward for not going! :)
  22. It's only available via Coldplay.com, so there shouldn't be any mark-ups. It really does sound like it is actually LIMITED for once due to the later release date. It's not that bad of a deal if you figure you are getting all three formats (which come to roughly half the cost). If it is truly limited, it's a worthy investment in my eyes. I'm just using the money I didn't use for a ticket to Austin City Limits friday, so I'm all good! :)
