Oh definately. Everyone has the right to an opinion and change that opinion whenever they want - that's the purpose of a forum! I wasn't picking on anyone in particular, just saying that a lot of the really negative comments came from people posting emotionally before they really gave the song a chance.

Maybe wait for the ENTIRE album before making this retarded generalisation... :rolleyes:

HAHA, I love how some people who were totally dogging the song are now trying to back track a bit after Debs post. Seriously, it's fine to have an opinion and post it, but you all need to learn not to get so emotional and post things you might later regret. At least Debs can see the poll is trending in a positive way (ratings of 6 or above), which means it reflects the majority.

Thanks for this. I think a lot of people go with knee-jerk reactions or let their emotions get a hold of them before they think about things. It didn't help with the build-up before the release...

Yeah, I thought this was a little odd too. I mean I do like the song a lot, but don't think it's one of their best songs ever. I think a lot of these people are voting off the pure elation of a new track rather than the song itself. One reason I mentioned earlier that one should listen to it more than once before voting!

Aww, poor William has been forgotten in all the fiasco over ETDIAW! Figured I'd bump him up, especially due to his excellent drumming work on the new single! :drummer:

Figured I'd give a more fleshed-out review since I forgot to post what I rated it earlier: I gave it an 8. Mostly because I love the sound, lack of verse-chorus-verse structure and gradual build-up, but I'm really surprised they went down the 'sampling' route after all the fiasco of VLV so deducted a couple of points as the originality is lacking. It is still better than a lot of current pop songs. Coldplay have definitely confirmed their move towards more mainstream/pop than their alternative rock past with this single. I remember thinking this when VLV was released, but thought it might be short-lived. I don't necessarily see it as a bad thing, but I can also see how others might feel alienated! Ultimately, they'll always lose fans and gain fans as their career progresses. I feel while there may be a lot here that give up on the band, a lot more will come in and take their place.

Oooh I forgot about this! Yeah, the top middle one looks like it might be it due to the build-up style of the song, but the end doesn't look right. So maybe the bottom second left is it?

Love it, but really think people need to listen to it more than once before voting. If you vote based on one listen I don't think it's a true representation of your opinion.

I LOVE IT!!! It's very X&Y meets VLV to me, which I adore. I love the upbeat nature of it and I'm very happy with the results... I can't wait for the album!!! :thumbsup: Downloading on iTunes now works in the USA, I just downloaded it!!

Mmm, kind of happy at the reports it is 'upbeat' as the song title is kind of a downer in a way. Maybe it's supposed to be that way - opposites. Not really surprised it's being reported as 'dance'. I mean VLV had a more upbeat drum line and remember the GPASUYF/Talk 'techno' mix on the tour? Also, there were numerous reports of Will experimenting with 'beats'. I for one welcome change, and I like VLV and LiJ. We'll see how drastic it is tomorrow then!!

Yeah, don't even bother really with the past 20 pages or so (although there is a nice little exchange with Debs!). I gave up after all the bickering that was going on, thinking there might be actual useful information with the amount of posts in this thread! Bickering isn't going to change anything - they are going to release what they release and the style, etc. is already chosen. Some will like, some will hate. Just go along with the ride people and be positive. We've waited far to long for this new material to waste time bitching about something that hasn't even been released yet! :facepalm:
