Interviewing a Member of Coldplay
Um, a couple of Q's I would probably ask if given the chance, ha! Ask Will: Since you are more a guitarist-at-heart, what was the most difficult part of picking up the drums? Ask Chris: With this album, you have experimented with singing in your lower register. Did you have any difficulty in getting the right tone in your voice? Or something along those lines... ha

I believe starting with Nashville, the rest are indoors in the States until the July/August let, where they are outdoors again. But yeah, I'm guessing there were no suitable outdoor venues.

10-Jun-2009: AT& T Center, San Antonio, TX, USA
San Antonio should brace itself. It’s not often that a rock act hits town at the height of its creative power and with the album of the year Grammy tucked under its arm. Such is the scenario when Coldplay arrives at AT&T Center on Wednesday, June 10, to promote Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends. Snow Patrol opens. Not all that long ago, Green Day, with American Idiot, Norah Jones, with Come Away With Me, Alejandro Escovedo, with Real Animal, and even a very young Britney Spears, with her Catholic schoolgirl swagger, rocked San Antonio’s world with vital intensity onstage — as only artists on that kind of roll can do. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin described his current tour as “a spectacle” befitting a band considered by many to be the biggest in the world. It’s a steamroller driven by Martin and his bandmates, guitarist Jon Buckland, drummer Will Champion and bassist Guy Berryman. Which means that for the band’s first visit to S.A., fans will be bombarded with majestic art-rock and epic pop, lasers, giant bouncing rubber yellow balls (for “Yellow”), unplugged rock moments, colorful Sgt. Pepper’s-influenced outfits and a free CD giveaway. Not everyone loves it. The New York Times calls them the most insufferable band in the world. “It really doesn’t matter who’s biggest today,” said Martin in a telephone interview in May, adding that worrying about who is No. 1 “makes my brain melt.” But pop world domination — in the realm of U2, Metallica, Hannah Montana, Green Day, Jonas Brothers and The Rolling Stones — comes at a price. Loss of privacy is one. Martin spends much of his life with actress wife Gwyneth Paltrow dodging paparazzi. There’s also the matter of rock guitarist Joe Satriani claiming that Coldplay’s song “Viva La Vida” bears too close a resemblance to his “If I Could Fly.” In December, Satriani sued for copyright infringement. “We’ve never had a hit that big before. So I don’t know if it’s to do with it’s the only song that’s been that famous,” Martin told the Philadelphia Inquirer. At the end of the day, Martin wouldn’t change a thing. “I feel lucky,” he said. San Antonio, brace yourselves for Coldplay The San Antonio set list will include some of the band’s biggest hits, including “Clocks,” “The Hardest Part,” “Viva La Vida, “Yellow,” “In My Place,” “Glass of Water,” “Politik,” “Fix You” and “The Scientist.” There’s even a cover of The Monkees’ “I’m a Believer.” Hector Saldaña | 210SA contributor http://www.210sa.com/entertainment/San_Antonio_brace_yourselves_for_Coldplay.html

LOL, well luck really! I got the SA ticket a few hours after the pre-sale began since I didn't know about it and was leaving for England the next day. The Houston one was really luck, since I pulled up Sec. 102 row DD in the pre-sale but didn't get it thinking there would be better in the general. Then there wasn't, ha. Then I found Sec. 102 row EE on Ebay and got those. Then one day I just decided to look for some reason and got Sec. 102 row H! It also helps I'm going by myself I guess... Crappy friends I went with last year don't want to go on a weeknight, blah. :dozey::rolleyes:

UGH, it's sooooo hot today... I can see why Guy wants to take a swim. I wonder if Will and Jonny are with him? Or maybe Will is at Waterloo Records, ha? I bet Chris is in LA like someone else said... So, I wonder if this means they may hang around after the show in SA to greet fans since they will probably just be driving back to Austin? *hopes*

I wish it were me though... oh well, damn job - uh, well I guess at least I should be thankful I have a job or I wouldn't be able to go see them! :dozey: I told him to keep a scrap of paper and his camera phone with him in case he happens to run upon anyone :whip: :P :escaping:

I sent my friend in Austin out to survey the area and report back ;) (he got layed off last month and really has nothing better to do - well he should be finding another job, but oh well) I told him to check out Waterloo Records since I bet Will or Guy might venture over there, especially since today is their day off. I'm so happy that Austin is their hub for the next few days, even if it isn't Houston...

21 Jun-2009: General Motors Place, Vancouver, Canada - Tickets, Previews, Meetups, Reviews, Setlists
No, it's actually lined up with the front of the stage. It's the border between section 104 and section 105. Section 103 is behind the stage, most of section 104 is the side of the stage. I had a similar ticket at the Houston show last year, and as you can see from my avatar, that's Chris on the B-Stage catwalk and the Houston Chronicle snapped me snapping him, ha! Anyway, it was an awesome location and kind of annoyed I can no longer go since my work trip was cancelled... oh well, I have good tickets to the TX shows :)

Ok, so how do you post pictures?! I'm so confused since it asks for a web address??! I'm just trying to figure this out so when I go to the San Antonio concert on Wednesday, I can hopefully post some new Will pics/vids if I can get some decent ones for you all :) This is the furthest seat from the stage I have this tour, so the good shots may not be until July, but I'll at least try! I wish I was on the B-Stage side since Will doesn't usually come down Jonny's ramp...

I can't believe it's almost here already! Just one more show, and then it's ours! I'm excited about Snow Patrol too, one of the reasons I decided to drive out for this one. I've never seen them before. So it sounds like they don't hang around after the shows? No hope of getting to meet them?

As long as it's a regular point and shoot, you shouldn't have a problem taking it in. Some security guards are not nice though, so i'd still put it in a pocket or whatever and not have it in plain sight.

LOL, that last video is quite possibly the greatest Coldplay interview ever! Their facial expressions in parts are just so funny :laugh3: The Japanese can have the most bizarre shows, ha :stunned:

"Strawberry Swing" video - RELEASED! (20th July 2009)
Really the only video I haven't liked for VLV is 'Lost!' but that's because I never really like the live ones - that's what we have live DVD's for. I guess if I had gone to that show, it'd be a nice memento. I love all the others though. Actually there are very few Coldplay videos that I don't like. We need a video collection DVD already!

Awww, I love the LITii video, it's one of my favs... very inventive and clever. Maybe you just have to be British to appreciate it? I used to love Punch and Judy :)

Time that the concert is over at...
Yeah, all the TX shows have been bumped up to 7pm, even the San Antonio one which is in an arena. So I guess it's not only outdoors shows. For the first time, I am being crazy and driving 3 hours to SA and back for the concert, but oh well. It's a whole month and a half before the other ones so it's worth it!

French plane 'missing off Brazil'
Thank you all for your kind words. He is obviously still so upset, but he has decided to go to Germany at the end of the week to be with one of his friends' family members and classmates from his uni. He was thinking of either going there or to Brazil to be with his other friends' family, but I think it just wasn't possible to do that. It is so sad though. I just really hope that they find out what went wrong and it doesn't up being unsolved.
