I think as long as you have the maturity to not use your vast amount of knowledge, share it with people extensively, and treat the person in question like a creeper, then I don't think it's that big of a deal.

Chiptune (aka Videogame Music)
On "Super Smash Bros. Brawl," there's a "my music" function where you can go and listen to all the music present on the game, divided by stages and such. A lot of the music they have on there is great, particularly for "Metal Gear Solid."

Really? I've always liked "Water." Then again, a lot of that has to do with the fact that I'm a sucker for piano.

So, I'm considering RADIOHEAD
^ That is exactly what I meant. Thank you, Christina. And with that, I start my vacation from this board. I'm done with this. I've talked myself to death for nothing, and all I'm doing is causing more trouble than I'm trying to prevent. I don't know when I'll be back. I may sleep on it and be back tomorrow, or I may realize that I just need more time than that and take my time with it. Who knows? It doesn't matter either way. This has become too much for me to handle. I'm sorry to everyone who was sitting here forced to read this and try to stay neutral. I'm sorry for going so blatantly off-topic. I'm sorry for causing all that I caused.

You say she hasn't done it to intentionally piss people off, but that's exactly what she's done. You keep telling me to try, and I have tried. I've tried damn hard, and that's really all you can (and should) expect from anyone. Yeah, there are times when I can be sensitive; O WOE IS ME. I've worked on that, and I've gotten a lot better at it. Yeah, there's definitely room for improvement, but you can't tell me that I don't try, because you'd be wrong. I'm not asking to change her attitude about how she views Muse. I'm merely asking that she not do it so much and find not so harsh ways to do it. It can't be that hard. Thank you. I'm glad someone gets it.

Yeah, well, that's good for her, but not everyone is like that, and given that knowledge, she shouldn't expect other people to be like her in that sense. I have my limits, and they have been breached. They are simple comments, yes, but they have more power than some people think they do, particularly when repeated a number of times. I'm sorry that I'm human and have the flaw of having the capability to get sincerely annoyed and pissed off about something. I never said she was that close-minded of a person. I believe I mentioned in one of my earlier posts that this is the only thing that's really bothering me. You're telling me to not let it affect me. Well, honestly, it's a little late for that, given the amount of words I've put into this. Once I get set off on something, I tend to stay that way for a while. That's just another one of those human flaws I have. No, it's not necessarily a good thing, but it happens. I shouldn't keep saying stuff like this, but I feel compelled to. After a point, yes, I do get annoyed, and maybe I shouldn't, but you have to understand that for people like me, Muse is not just a band. Muse came to me at a point in my life when I was at rock bottom and trying to find my way back up to where I needed to be. If it weren't for the solace I got from listening to their music when I first started listening to them, I probably wouldn't be alive today. It may sound stupid to say something like that about something as simple as a band, but it's true. It was encouraging for me to hear that they too wanted the loneliness to be over, and that I shouldn't be afraid because I was protected from trouble and pain. Through their music, I felt someone understood me for the first time in a long time. Muse literally saved my life, and I'll be damned if I'm going to let someone sit here and keep making such comments about them like they don't even matter.

Can be? It is. Plain and simple. Marie, I've tried for a very long time to be patient with it and just ignore it. Being a naturally impatient person, I think I've done a pretty damn good job of it. You don't know how many times I've sat here and ignored some comment she's made. Sometimes, though, enough is enough. You may know how she functions in terms of what she says about Muse, but who says other people on the forum do? I don't see her as being all "LOL JK," and according to how she's responded to me, I'm under the impression that she isn't. I actually am almost annoyed to the point of tears because I'm sitting here trying in various different ways to explain to her just how much some of the things she says hurts sometimes, and she just doesn't seem to care. It seems like she looks down on me due to the fact that I listen to them, and because she is someone that I consider a good friend of mine on this forum, that sincerely hurts my feelings, especially given that I would never do that to her.

The first word of your reply is a "lol." You really do think it's a game. You didn't take a damn thing I said seriously. Really, Ivet, it's not funny. "and i seriously haven't said anything about muse in a long time..." Your idea of a long time must be highly misconstrued. Even if two or three days did count as "a long time," that's beyond the point. Yeah, about the dog diq comment. I actually find that one to be incredibly offensive due to what it entails. There's no excuse to say that about anyone or anything. No, I haven't said anything about it until now, because I tried my best to keep an open mind and be patient. Everyone has the right to free speech, but that doesn't give you the right to abuse that privilege and use it in a way that hurts other people.

First, don't go around saying you're sorry when you're not. That's bullshit. If you actually had any ounce of remorse, you would take into consideration even a little of what I've said to you and at least ponder over it. You have honestly told me, however, that you have no intention of doing that because you don't care, so obviously, it has no meaning. I don't think you understand what I just said. This isn't about me. Yeah, I'm the only person that's said anything about it, but that's because I'm the only person that has had enough balls to do it. ...The Muse forum? HOW THE FUCK DOES THE MUSE FORUM HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS? That's far from the point, Ivet. It doesn't matter where you do it at all. The point still stands that you shouldn't do stuff like that out of courtesy for those that actually give a damn. Yeah, we can deal with people dissing our band, but we can only take so much. Do you understand how old this shit gets? We get tired of hearing it after a while. Yeah, I said we, because whether you choose to believe it or not, it's not just me. About the suqing thing. That was merely an example. Apparently, you didn't catch that, either. I'm going to end this by trying a different approach: Ivet. Please stop. PLEASE. Other than this nonsense, I honestly have no problem with you. I find your music taste impeccable, as despite your hatred for Muse, we have a lot of the same artists in common. You got me into Sufjan, for crying out loud. I'm not doing this to purposely cause drama. I'm just trying to get you to understand exactly what you're doing.

So, I'm considering RADIOHEAD
NO, EXCUSE YOU. I've been more than patient enough with you on this topic. I've been on this forum for almost two years now, and you've done this the entire time. I didn't mind you at first, because I understand that Muse is not to everyone's tastes. That's not a problem. I do have a problem, however, with your constant belittling of them just because you feel like it. People on here will have a conversation somewhere about them, and you'll interject with your signature "MUSE SUQS DOG DIQ" or some other overly snide comment. There's a difference between really not liking a band and slandering/taunting them like it's some sort of game. I despise Joanna Newsom, but do I talk about it all the time? No. If it somehow comes up in conversation, sure, I'll talk about how I think her singing style is weird, but I wouldn't dare say something along the lines of "JOANNA SUQS DOG DIQ." Why? Because it's rude, and there are much nicer ways to tell people that an artist isn't your cup of tea. In fact, really, this whole thing is a combination of A. you talking about it over and over and over, and B. the way in which you put it. I wouldn't mind it so much if it weren't for those things. Yes, you have the right to express your opinion, but so do I, and I feel that we (meaning the Muse community as a whole) shouldn't have to put up with the sheer amount of lashing that you do to them. Alexa doesn't like Muse, either, but she at least shows enough respect to us who do to say something, then leave it alone. Just the other day, she showed up in the Muse thread and said something. Christina was like, "Alexa in the Muse thread? That's a surprise." She replied, "I still don't like Muse." Which is OK, because it came up in normal conversation, and she didn't say anything overly offensive. The way you talk about them in that way comes across (at least, to me) as you judging those who do like them and telling them their music taste is awful. Is that what you're meaning? No, but that's how it seems, and that's why people like me get offended at it all. I normally don't get this worked up over stuff like this, but you've crossed the line. In a way, you've shown a great deal of disrespect to an entire fan community, and I'm not having it. I don't act this way towards any of your favorite artists. Don't do it to mine. /rant.

WOM AWARDS, ROUND 2! (Shortlist on Page 3. Deadline February 14 @ 5:30 pm (GMT -6))
SON OF A - OK, so I've tallied up votes for the ballots that I have in so far, and for a lot of the categories, everyone voted for someone/something different. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THAT? :wreck:

Kaiser Chiefs
That makes two of us.

Kaiser Chiefs
Yeah, same. As far as the actual music goes, I dare not let the artist's personality affect my judgment, even though sometimes, it can be hard not to do so. I first heard Kaiser Chiefs when I saw them play "I Predict a Riot" on "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson." I remember thinking, "Yeah, this is pretty good stuff." You need to get the rest of "Employment," if not "Off With Their Heads" as well. :cheesy:
