  2. :awesome: :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: Do you like Huey Lewis and the News? If you thought the movie was disturbing, you should read the book. :freak:
  3. Reading about Bane's role in the "Knightfall" era, if Nolan portrays the character properly, I think it'd be a very nice choice. Most film adaptations of that character, as I read, portray him as a simple thug as opposed to the super smart strongman that he really is.
  4. "Ever since then, the band have been trying to break free of being bound by Creep. They hate the song, yet do feel obliged to play it "we only play this because it is still a good song". They wrote My Iron Lung purposely about their hatred of the song, but it was not until the recent hit of Paranoid Android that the band start to see some mass recognition of other songs. However, they band will always be burdened with Creep." Link.

  7. I was asked by several of the partitioners to place this here, so I am. This is a last-ditch effort to get the word out. If there's an issue with the thread, the mods can always fix it. (Thread title courtesy of Will, aka "The Final Track") UPDATE: The deadline I have set for ballots is this Friday, February 4 at 5 pm CST (GMT -6). If they are not in by this time, they will not count. No exceptions will be made. After this, I will give a shortlist for awards that need run-offs, and I'll let everyone know what awards will be present and which ones won't be. On some of them, from what I can tell, there's no way at all to shortlist them, so I'm not going to stress out about them. I don't think that will be too many, though, so don't fret. Thanks, guys. :nice:
  8. This thread amuses me greatly.
  9. OMG, YOSSI HAS A FACEBOOK. /late. Friend request sent.
  10. Anne Hathaway as Catwoman? :wtf: OK. Well, she's at least doing something different. Lord help me, though, if she screws this role up.
  11. I have this song. I listened to it, anyway, to see what I could get out of it. I listened to it quite carefully, and I will admit that the part where Thom sings, "He's taaaaalking ooooout the wooooorld" did remind me a little of Matt. I had to try, but I got it. That being said, though, I have listened to both bands for quite some time now, and I still don't think they're THAT alike. Matt doesn't sound like Thom. Matt sounds like Matt. Thom sounds like Thom. I doubt anyone could sound like either of them. I know that made me seem a bit brash. Allow me to clarify that I have nothing against Thom Yorke as a singer. Stylistically, he does what he needs to do at the appropriate time. When he has to sound pretty, he does. (At this point, I must reiterate my love for "I Will" and use this as an example. If that doesn't work for you, refer to "Fake Plastic Trees," which is Radiohead 101.) +100 Yeah, it is a little bit, but not that much, and definitely not to the extent of Matt's, particularly if you were to compare them in terms of debut albums. Matt's voice on "Showbiz" is quite raw. (And, to be fair, a bit unrefined. But that's OK, given that Matt hadn't quite turned 21 during the time the album was recorded.) You do bring up the age issue, which is indeed a factor, particularly in pop music. In the classical world, they take very good care of themselves and sing in a technically correct way, so it's not as big of a deal, and they can go for a pretty good while before their voices start to give out. With pop music, it's different, particularly if you sing in the way Thom and Matt do. That was something I really was happy about when "The Resistance" came out. The richness of Matt's tone gets better with each album, and as long as he takes care of himself, he ought to be able to go for a good while. (He once stated that the beverage he treats himself to after a concert is red wine because it's the only alcohol that doesn't dry his throat out. That sounds fair enough.) He has a smaller-than-normal larynx, so I'm not sure how that will affect him in the future. Ouch. OK, IVET. You have made it very clear for quite some time now (since way before the inception of this thread) that you think Muse are the worst piece of garbage on the face of the earth and Matt Bellamy looks like a naked mole rat. I got it the first time. There's a difference between stating an opinion and ramming it into the ground every possible chance you get. Let it go already. Jesus Christ.
  12. ^ Yeah, "Ruby" was the reason I ended up buying the 2nd album, which was my first Kaiser Chiefs album. I was hooked on that album for a good while. Awww, I actually like the 3rd album.
  13. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. This is an example of why I love Josh Groban. :wacky:
  14. I took formal piano lessons for seven years. Even now, I still play it every now and again, and I start to miss it. Then I'd remember, "Oh yeah, I'm a horn major for a reason" and forget about it. D: That's terrible! If there's anything that bugs me, it's people who show no respect for musical instruments. This is exactly why I hate it when rock bands (yes, like Muse) destroy their equipment at the end of the show or whatever. It makes me angry. Instruments aren't cheap, and some of them take a good amount of time and effort to make properly. The least you could do is care for it. ...Aaaaand I'm done. Sorry. :embarrassed: Oh, I love doing stuff like that. I'm always messing around with various instruments playing various songs from various bands. I keep trying to work at playing the piano parts while simultaneously singing. It's not as easy as it looks. Haha, awww. Aw, boo. That sucks. I can do it! :awesome: I learned most of it by ear, too. The thing with "B&H," though, is that you need endurance if you're going to play the entire thing straight through. The left hand is in octaves pretty much the whole time (with the exception of the prelude), and given that's the max that I can reach somewhat comfortably on the piano (I can only reach as much as a 9th, perhaps a minor 10th if I REALLY stretch my hand out), it hurts like crap after a while. :cheesy: :wacky: Me likey teh Muse coverz. Awww, you don't? That's a shame. Awesomesauce. :awesome: Congratulations!
  15. "Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed."-Alexander Pope Try not to think of such things, Rudy. Just let the music do the talking.
  16. I wish I had a portable keyboard. I hate having to go to the living room to play on my Baldwin. :\
  17. New album? YES PLX. :cheesy:
  18. ^ Exactly! I find that Matt's voice is full of power, whereas Thom's is much more mellow in quality.
  19. NO. Why do people say that? Thom and Matt don't sound alike AT ALL.
  20. YES. Actually, this goes for a lot of Christian Bale films, but this one in particular is a fave. :wacky: /fangirl.
  21. I love it when Morgan and Garcia banter with each other. It's kinda cute.
