  1. Hurts is sooooo good. No, do it now! The National needs you to listen to them. GET TO IT. :whip:
  2. ...Wait, who says Muse is releasing an album in 2011?
  3. WAAAAAH. That's a surprise. Maybe your mixtape maker was trying to expose you to something out of your comfort zone? Perhaps he/she has a better explanation. I'm sorry yours really bothered you. EDIT: Also, just as an FYI, I've downloaded the other mixtapes that had links so far. Four out the seven were in .rar files, so I can't listen to those just yet. I have Greg's, Jen's, and Chris' on my mp3 player right now. I'm about to see how much I like these.
  4. Haven't we had threads like this before? On Last.fm, Arcade Fire is similar to The National. You should definitely check them out. They've gained a lot of hype on the board this year after releasing their latest album "High Violet." They are SO GOOD. Also, you may want to look into both Editors and White Lies. They're similar to each other, and I think they might be OK for you. EDIT: OH! If you really love Coldplay, go listen to Keane. I think you'd like them rather much. :nice: OK, while we're doing this, I'm looking for bands that are a bit more obscure and out of my comfort zone. I listen to a lot of the big bands talked about on the forum. Just take a look at my Last.fm, and that'll give you some sort of idea. :nice:
  5. You know, I read this quote the other day about how you don't just fall out of love with someone; you either never did love them or you always will. You're one of those people who I'll always love. You're just a beautiful human being. I love you. I know you don't feel the same way, but I'm OK with that. Yes, I'll move on eventually; I'm well on my way as far as that goes. However, I'll never forget you, and you'll always have a special place in my heart.
  6. -raises hand- Nope, I've never had it. At all.
  7. FEBRUARY FTW, YO. :awesome:
  8. February 27, 2009 was when I joined. That date also happened to be Josh Groban's 28th birthday. Teehee.
  9. YAY, success! :cheesy: Oh, and you're welcome. Wow, really? That's legit. Maybe. YAY, LORE. :cheesy: -throws confetti- Awww, Sofia, you're so sweet! Yeah, I think that works better. Exactly. That's optimal. Too bad it's not practical also. DO IIIIIT. Oh, trust me, the vocals weren't to loud at all. I had my volume 3/4 of the way up when I listened to it the last time, and I still couldn't understand what he was singing at all. I understand not wanting to drown out the background noise, but I'd like to be able to hear the lyrics, too. WAAAAAH. That mixtape looks quite good. I may very well take a listen. Heck yeah! The National are SO FRICKIN' GOOD. Yeah, with those artists I know on it, this already looks like a legit mixtape. I'm as curious as you are.
  10. Liam Finn and Beck? How the bloody hell did I not recognize them? :freak: I excuse myself from Beck, since I've only started listening to him sparsely very recently, but Liam Finn? I have frickin' "Champagne in Seashells." I feel like a moron now. :disappointed: Thanks, Alyssa. :nice: I definitely have to look up more Explosions in the Sky now...as well as find Liam Finn's albums. He is so frickin' good. Oh, and I shall listen to more of the Beck that I have sitting unlistened to in my iTunes.
  11. :cheesy: You're so awesome, Rudy.
  12. Hey, I've already got my official review, so I'm good. Please, feel free to take your time. Just lemme know what you think when you're done. Oh. Well, if you end up being one of those unfortunate people who never get their tape reviewed, I'd be more than happy to do it for you. :nice:
  13. No, not at all. You should give yourself enough time to review the tape sufficiently, but not so much that your partner starts to worry whether they'll get a review or not. As long as you post regular updates about where you're at in the process, it should be just fine.
  14. Lore! :cheesy: How nice of you. :nice: Did yours get reviwed yet?
  15. See, if I'd have known that, I would've complied this mixtape for you last time. :laugh4: Hey, boss, I edited the post, and the link's up now, if you really want it. :wacky:
  16. No, I remember. I still have that document saved on my computer, actually. Awww, she did? That was quite nice of her. :wacky:
  17. YEAH, CHRISTINA! :cheesy: I'm so excited for you! Good luck with Cliff Lee, and let us know how it went when you get back.
  18. Yeah, Sofia and I talked for the first time in a while a few days ago. She actually made my tape for the last exchange, so that's how we started talking. We have a lot in common in terms of music taste. :D NONONO, it's OK. I'm not angry or offended. In fact, I respect how you're able to be honest and tell me what you didn't like so I can do a better job for MTE 8. ...Wait, you saw The Temper Trap live? I'm jealous. :bomb: Oh, and you're quite welcome. :nice:
  19. Awww, thanks.
  20. Hey, loudefix. I was the one who made your mix. I'm sorry you didn't like it very much. I think what happened is that I took a bit more literal approach to making this mixtape, and I put what I put on it based on what your Last.fm tastes revealed to me that you liked. I took similar artists and ran with it. We don't have a huge amount of taste in common, anyway, so I guess in a way, that made it slightly more difficult. Anyway, I'm really, really sorry it wasn't your cup of tea. :/ I will 'fess up and say that I kinda put it in order at the last minute, and I probably could've made the order a tad better. I doubt it would've mattered, though, since as I said, it's not stuff you seemed to really like. I am quite happy that you at least did find a few things that you were rather pleased to hear, so that in itself is an accomplishment. :nice: Also, as a side note, your English isn't bad, and even if it were, you're not a native speaker, so it's OK. I know people here who are native speakers and don't understand concept of grammar at all. :bomb: OK, so, for everyone, here's the track listing put all together: 1. "Pitter Patter Goes My Heart"-Broken Social Scene (You Forgot It In People, 2002) 2. "Call Me When You Get This"-Corinne Bailey Rae (Corinne Bailey Rae, 2006) 3. "All My Stars Aligned"-St. Vincent (Marry Me, 2007) 4. "If You Don't Wanna Love Me"-James Morrison (Songs for You, Truths for Me, 2008) 5. "Just a Thought"-Gnarls Barkley (St. Elsewhere, 2006) 6. "Suddenly Everything Has Changed"-The Postal Service (The District Sleeps Alone Tonight EP, 2003) 7. "The Flowers"-Regina Spektor (Soviet Kitsch, 2004) 8. "Illuminated"-Hurts (Happiness, 2010) 9. "Fire Escape"-Fanfarlo (Reservoir, 2009) 10. "Babys"-Bon Iver (Blood Bank EP, 2009) 11. "Giving Everything Away for Free"-Daniel Merriweather (Love & War, 2009) 12. "Hamburg Song"-Keane (Under the Iron Sea, 2006) 13. "Resurrection"-The Temper Trap (Conditions, 2009) 14. "Nothing to Give"-White Lies (To Lose My Life..., 2009) 15. "The Geese of Beverly Road"-The National (Alligator, 2005) 16. "Sea Lion Woman"-Feist (The Reminder, 2007) 17. "Autumn"-Paolo Nutini (These Streets, 2006) Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?tszpkyb2f5ijtyc
  21. Did you watch ESPN First Take this morning? Skip Bayless said he actually lost a lot of respect for Cliff Lee due to his decision. He called him "LeBron Lee." :blank:
