What the hell? I mean, how do you get that angry about Chris Martin glaring at you a little bit? And Chris Martin and Nicolas Cage are completely different: Cage is an actor who is trying to be famous, while Chris is a musician who's main concern is the quality of his music, not the popularity. Chris, from what I've usually heard, is relatively good to his fans, but if he thinks someone is a paparazzi, of course he's going to be annoyed.

In a deep analysis of the song, I would say that the beginning kind of symbolizes how something quiet and somewhat pleasant can be interrupted by the magnificent glory of a rainy day.

I don't know if it's because I'm hearing wrong, but I always thought the line was, "I don't want to be a soldier, that the captain of some sinking ship would stow down below." As in, I don't want to be imprisoned in the bottom of a sinking ship. Meaning, I don't want to be stuck in an organization (be it war, a family, or anything else) where everyone who doesn't get out gets hurt in the end.
