  1. It does bug me a lot that the writers decided to get rid of Watson's army background. Just from the summary CBS has released so far, it can feel like Holmes and Watson are less admirable than their canon characters. We'll have to wait for the pilot episode to see how they're written and how they handle their respective problems and issues. I don't have high hopes for this show, but I don't know. Maybe it will be fantastic, maybe it will be mediocre, or just be downright horrible.
  2. As long as the CBS Watson has the qualities and characteristics of Conan Doyle's Watson (loyalty, a fighter, etc.), I'm all for a female Watson.
  3. OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies - 7/10 Really entertaining with humorous dialogue, and Jean Dujardin was really charming in the role. Not exactly sure if he was overdoing it with his facial expressions (and eyebrows :blank: ) at times, though.
  4. Andrew Scott love all around! :D Gah, he was fantastic, and I'd love to see him in more roles. I'm so glad that the creators/writer (Thompson) came up with an amazing exit (and amazing lead-up to it) for Moriarty. The Valley of Fear with the whole Moriarty chronology confused me so much.
  5. Steven Moffat talked a little about plans for the third series in an interview, and he basically says that Moriarty is, well, really gone. source. ETA: I'm sort of torn. I'm glad that it seems like they're not bringing him back (to me, it would invalidate Jim's character and motives if he really did fake his death), but at the same time . . . MORIARTYYYYY :bigcry: I just love his character so much.
  6. Hm, search function might be having issues. No worries, though! There will be more Hobbit love in this part of the forum. I think I only noticed that one dwarf because the actor has a cute face and mentioned his mittens and cardigans in the third production video. I don't know all thirteen names and faces either, but I'm working on it! I read the book in eighth grade, but I'll definitely re-read it before the film release date since I barely remember anything. Benedict's acting is one of the things I'm most looking forward to as well. :awesome: The behind-the-scenes stuff will be great.
  7. I'm pretty much stalking Benedict's every move. :blank: But yes! He's voicing both Smaug and the Necromancer, along with playing Smaug through motion-capture.
  8. There's already a Hobbit movie thread here, BUT THAT'S OKAY. This movie is too epic for just one. I love the production videos and how they show all the different parts of making the film. It's pretty incredible how much hard work and dedication they put into the process, even if things go wrong. :') I think Ori is my favorite dwarf so far (and yes, I know we've seen practically no actual footage of the dwarves yet, but I like him). :wacky: He's so adorable with his mittens.
  9. lasjdfk;ajfd;kfask;f I mean, that's intriguing. Thanks for posting! I'm getting an apocalypse-they're-out-to-get-us-we're-all-gonna-die feeling from those song titles. Yep. ETA: Laughing at drunk Dom. And again with his legs. It's not fair.
  10. I just saw the new TwitPics . . . THEY HAVE A CHOIR?! THIS HAD BETTER BE GOOD.
  11. Yay for 5! I personally think it's the best place to start for most people new to the show. :awesome: Yeah, several of the episodes can be really cheesy with not-so-great special effects and not-so-great monsters/aliens (some of the earlier episodes are a bit cringeworthy, I'll admit). Still, it's a pretty great show with fantastic storylines. I love the adventures.
  12. I'd say you should start with series 5, which is Matt Smith's first. (But maybe that's because I'm biased.)
  13. Same here! Very impressive.
  14. Benedict is fantastic in Hawking. I need to watch Third Star again, because I might have been in a bad mood the first time I watched it, so that viewing was ruined. Gorgeous cinematography, though. Have you guys seen the most recent pictures of him in L.A.? He looks so exhausted, the poor thing. :(
  15. That's what I tell myself all the time.
  16. FRANZ :dazzled: They're playing at a bunch of European festivals this summer (more to be announced, maybe), but there hasn't been any other news about the next album so far. They're a band I definitely need to see.
  17. Aw, I was really hoping Marina and the Diamonds would be at my show when I saw the announcement. I'll definitely check out Metronomy, though.
  18. The Downton Abbey Christmas special. :wacky: Festive.
  19. Parachutes: Shiver A Rush of Blood to the Head: God Put a Smile upon Your Face X&Y: Swallowed in the Sea Viva la Vida: Death and All His Friends Mylo Xyloto: Hurts Like Heaven
  20. ^ Nice. Wait, you mean the IOU's? I thought it was just part of the storyline and overall theme, or as a way for Moriarty to taunt Sherlock. Unless you're talking about something else, then never mind. :sweatdrop:
  21. There's one interesting commentary on the three IOU's; someone said that they represented the three steps of Moriarty's plan (apple-IOU was when the binary code was planted in Sherlock's head, window-IOU for when Sally and Anderson began to doubt Sherlock, graffiti-IOU for when Sherlock became a fugitive). They explain it better here. In fact, their entire site has a bunch of Reichenbach theories (including the girl who screamed and the cyclist) which are good fun to read. YES. :awesome: You guys really need to check out Cabin Pressure if you haven't done so already, because it's really clever and hilarious. It's also great to see (or hear, I guess) Benedict's comedic acting.
  22. All the lyrics of A Rush of Blood to the Head (the song).
  23. I think those are the major commitments that those three men have, along with a handful of not-so-high-budget films (and other stuff) for Benedict and Martin. Everyone else seems pretty free so far, even though they may be doing other film or theatre roles. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if Hollywood snatches up any of the other cast and/or crew members.
