Chris/ Hugh Laurie
Months ago someone put together a whole series of shots of CM & HL, showing all different expressions and poses. It was amazing and I've been searching for it but can't find it. If I remember correctly it was in the Gorgeous Chris thread (but I could be wrong) and it was behind a "Hide" button (again, I could be wrong). I'd love to find it again to torture (;))a friend who's a big Hugh fan and not so crazy about Chris. Anybody remember it?

Ask the Oracle on Coldplay.com (Now in session!)
Expected, but not happy... March 29, 2010 - submitted by Max, United Kingdom Q. Dear Oracle Will Prospekt be returning to give the inside scoop while the band are back in the studio for the next album? Thank you The Oracle replies: No, Prospekt is no longer; as with most things on the Viva campaign we won't be seeing him again, or rather, hearing from him...

The Hardest Part
I thoroughly dislike the album version -- it was a constant skipper for me. But I LOVE, truly LOVE, the live version. For me, there's a total disconnect with the LP version. Why would a sad breakup song, where someone is feeling so remorseful & sorrowful, be sung in such an upbeat fashion? It never made sense to me. But when I first heard the live version, the music finally supported the lyrics. Also, live, I love being able to hear Will harmonize. And as someone else said, the piano is beautiful.

No More Coldplay Butterflies!!
I'd be very happy with straight up fantastic songs. No bells, no whistles, no smoke, no mirrors, no outfits. Just gorgeous music from the heart. The other stuff is just window dressing.

No More Coldplay Butterflies!!
Agreed. The butterflies were magical. I remember the first time I saw them, watching that early BBC show. But they belong to Viva and Viva is over. I am ready for the next phase! Remember, they keep saying they are hoping to scale down the next tour. OK in my book.

News from the EMI / Warner Music / Parlophone / Atlantic Records shakeup...
from here: http://beatcrave.com/2010-03-22/emi-looks-to-mortgage-its-back-catalog-of-music/ EMI Looks To Mortgage Its Back Catalog Of Music Monday, March 22, 2010 4:42PM - By Jeffrey Hyatt "In an attempt to reverse their financial turmoil, EMI is toying with the idea of licensing its music to the North American market, hoping to raise close to $600 million for the music company, owned by Guy Hands’ company Terra Firma. EMI is reportedly presenting a five-year licensing deal of its music catalog to Warner Music, Universal Music Group and Sony Music. The Wall Street Journal reports that under any deal, sales and distribution of music by EMI artists like the Beatles, Queen, Coldplay and Pink Floyd handled by a rival music company could bring in up to $150.1 million per year for EMI. Times Online notes that while EMI does not need the approval of its artists to license their work, the music company must tread carefully because big earners such as Pink Floyd and Queen have already threatened to take their back catalog elsewhere. The Rolling Stones and Radiohead bolted from EMI following the buyout of the label in 2007. Because EMI (and subsidiaries like Virgin) have not had great luck introducing new bands and selling new music in the US market, a licensing deal actually makes sense; but then there is the timing issue and how long such a major deal would take to work itself out with a potential partner, the sticky issue of how an EMI artist might feel about their back catalog shuttled over to another label, plus any regulatory hurdles that might need to be dealt with. This Hail Mary for EMI, if successful, would prevent the company from falling into the hands of its creditors later this summer. Citigroup, who helped fund the 2007 takeover of the label and is owed big money, would have to approve such a licensing deal between EMI and one of the rival music labels." I'm not sure I understand a lot of this. First, does an artist have control of their back catalog? I always thought it was owned by the record company. How could Pink Floyd or Queen threaten to take it elsewhere? And by selling the licensing of the back catalog, does that mean that the new company now has total control over allowing the music to be used however they'd like? So, if this happens, Warner/Sony/Whoever could hawk Coldplay music to sell whatever? Would the long-standing agreements the artists have with EMI be transferred to the new company who are licensing their older stuff? If I hear "Yellow" hawking French's mustard I may kill someone.

The 5th Coldplay album
Chris did an interview in the middle of the tour and said that between shows all he'd do was write & watch "The Wire." Then he said he had an idea that #5 would be 'a story' (or something like that). So I wonder if he was inspired by "The Wire" (gangsta rap! :P:shocked2: kidding!) I just became curious if one influenced the other. Another thing I predict -- we will hear a lot more from the Coldplay Choir. I think that they really embraced harmonizing and singing as a group. And also, recently, Chris mentioned stuff he's been listening to lately and he mentioned some men's chorus from the 50's. (anyone remember their name? The something Singers???) How many times has Chris talked about growing up in church and loving group singing? And all the others have also said how much they love hearing everyone sign together. I think Chris is going to have some serious back-up singers in #5! I think they will start to use their voices as instruments. Maybe they will open #5 with something a capella! That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

What's next?
Agreed. I think we'll get crumbs from time to time, but I seriously doubt we'll get an album in 2010. Maybe they'll give us a new song as a Christmas download to usher in the New Year and a soon-to-be announced #5 release date. But, really, who knows? I'm sure even they don't.

Hey kids, who wants to hear my crazy stories about Mexico?
This is just so much fun! Thanks so much for sharing. We need to save this thread as a sticky or something so we can reread it during the quiet times before the next album. Can someone point me towards the background story of the mini? Sounds special, but I'm in the dark. And, seriously, can you imagine having to live like that, being followed constantly? That would get old very fast. I think Chris handles it amazingly well.

I'm not starting dinner until Angie is back in Texas. My family can eat cereal. It won't kill them.

So, what? Do they hide Chris away and just release him at show time?
