  1. Who? Who? C'mon, out with it woman!
  2. I've had 2 incidents, with varying impressions. I was in a very serious bicycling accident 5 years ago. I was unconscious and have no memory of the event but the angels were on my side. First off, an off-duty EMT saw it happen and immediately took control of the situation (I was unconscious & seizing). My husband is a doctor but he was too emotionally involved and was glad for the EMT. I was ambulanced to a parking lot where the medical helicopter could land. The pilot allowed my husband to fly with me, which I understand is very unusual. He said the flight nurse was incredible. In the trauma, my husband never got her name. We tracked her down and months later I wrote her a letter thanking her for her care & kindness....none of which I remember. Another time (again, a biking accident) a friend fell (his wheel got caught in RR tracks) and he broke both his ulna & radius, so basically his arm was dangling between his elbow & wrist. The EMTs weren't even going to splint it before putting him on a stretcher. My cousin was there and he works ski patrol. He had to tell them to stabilize his arm before moving him! Seemed a no-brainer to me, but they were going to just let his arm dangle. That wasn't such a great experience.
  3. For sure. I think that's a lesson the band learned from X&Y and they were determined to not make that mistake again. Chris has said that he wished it were 3 songs shorter. I'd love to know which 3 he'd drop. Some are so repetitious which, again, was acknowledged by the band. Chris joked that with X&Y they plagiarized themselves. I respect them for acknowledging what didn't work and changing it up.
  4. Exactly. These are the only songs I like on the album, for just the reason to say -- they sound sincerely sincere (if a bit cheesy). It's also the reason why I love the acoustic version of The Hardest Part Chis has been playing on this tour vs. the album version (which I dislike). The album version screams "pop single," while the current stripped down version sounds soulful & sincere.
  5. I don't dislike X & Y, but I don't love it either. And that's my issue with it -- it's just OK. Also, to my ear, it sounds like a collection of singles, rather than a cohesive whole. And many of the songs sound too similar to each other. They seem formulated, rarely braking free (I think Fix You is the exception and why it stands out imo). I rarely listen to the album straight through. I usually skip around to my favorite tracks. As far as being "over produced," I don't know what that means. If you are going to describe that as too layered with lots of sounds, then Viva is also over produced. I know many long-time fans love the stripped, raw sound of Parachutes & AROBTTH (as do I), but I also love VLV and think it's beautifully conceived & executed.
  6. X&Y - 8 Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends - 34
  7. How many shows are left? I've a feeling we'll have just as many versions...and titles:laugh3: I love these guys!
  8. He's playing with us. :P
  9. Agreed that it won't be on the next album, mainly because it belongs to the Viva-era and they will be ready to officially move on after these last shows. However, if they ever did decide to record it, they could do a Talk/Kraftwerk acknowledgment (if Bruce gives permission). They better decide on the title first.
  10. I asked The Oracle if it's "Don Quiote" or "Spanish Rain". Maybe she can pin the boy down.
  11. SHIVER!!!! How amazingly generous of them. They included that as a gift to long time fans. SHIVER!!!!!
  12. Chris also mentioned the HBO series "The Wire," in an interview. He said that in between shows during the North American shed leg, he'd watch The Wire & write.
  13. I think we'll be able to fine-tune it once we hear different recordings from the rest of the SA/LA tour. Librarians around the world wonder why there's a spike of interest in Cervante's novel...:laugh3:
  14. So we left La Mancha Headed out for higher plains Me and Sancho Panza Looking for adventure Rosinante at the reins So the windmills answer You'll never be lonely You'll never be lonely ever again You'll never be lonely You'll never be lonely again I heard you never get wet in Spanish rain So they sent the doctor for examining my brain Said he's not too clear Oh when the world, when the world just seems, a little bit too cruel Believe in better ? Make one better So tell that princess Tell that princess right down the train Tell that princess you'll never be lonely again I bet you never get wet in Spanish rain Ooh, ooh I bet you never get wet in Spanish rain I bet you never get wet in Spanish rain ________ Wow, guys, I think we've got it all worked out! Great job. I hear 2 little words differently. I think he's saying "clear" but just dragging it out a bit as if it were a 2 syllable word. Wait til we get a recording from Rio and we can double check.
  15. OK, I know this is a mess, and some makes no sense, but this is what I hear, or think I hear. Let's try to put our ears together and get close to the right lyrics. 1. So ????????? dementia 2. Headed out for higher plains 3. Essential ?????????????? 4. Looking for adventure 5. Accross an empty outdoor rains 6. To the ?????? answer 7. You'll never be lonely 8. You'll never be lonely anywhere 9. You'll never be alone 10. You'll never be alone again 11. I'll bet you'll never get wet in Spanish rain 12. So they sent the doctor for examine 13. But he's not too clear 14. When the world just seems a little bit too cruel 15. Believe in better 16. Make ???????????? better 17. So tell that princess 18. Tell that princess right down the train 19. You'll never be lonely again 20. I'll bet you never get wet in Spanish rain. 21. Ole, etc. 22. I'll bet you never get wet in Spanish rain. OK, so let's start refining and getting closer to something that makes sense!
  16. I agree that this won't show up on the upcoming album. I'll bet it's just a fun little celebratory song they got together to cap off the Spanish-influenced Viva era. And I also agree, that's it's too close to Dancing in the Dark to formally appear without paying official homage to Bruce. Chris likes to act clueless, but I think he's clueless like a fox! Great song, though, and so much fun to be back in touch with the boys!
  17. Yes, from The Scientist vid it sounds like the rest has done him good. That, and all the scarfs...:laugh3:
  18. Exactly. Don't get me wrong, those songs were great fun but from all the little tidbits Chris has shared about #5, they are looking to scale back. And they've also said they are not looking for Parachutes #2. I can't wait to hear what "arrives," as they like to say.
  19. I serious doubt this. I just hope they don't become so 'experimental' that they lose sight of their strengths, i.e. strong flowing melodies, etc.
  20. I still think that the band/Eno & EMI may both be right. Yes, the album may be finished and ready to go in December, but it's EMI's decision when it's actually released. Why they would want to postpone it is beyond me, but big business can be baffling. I am very, very curious to hear what they will come up with. And I think it's a great statement to Chris that he is so willing to step back and relinquish some control. That's not easy for an "inspired and dominate personality." :laugh3:
  21. I didn't know Chris wore glasses! What else is he hiding from me?
  22. Is this Apple & Moses? Precious!

Oh thanks so much...I'm getting a cup of tea and settling in for a fun read!
