  1. Interesting theories as to why EMI would immediately respond to this. Let's face it, other than to us uberfans, this was a insignificant mention which could have easily slipped under the radar. EMI's quick & emphatic denial gives the story wings. I don't know enough about business to understand why a struggling business would hold back one of their biggest assets. However, I do know that there is a difference between recording an album and releasing an album so that means that both EMI & Chris could be correct. The band could have the album in the can, sealed & finished by Christmas but that doesn't mean EMI has to release it then. Who knows what's going on behind closed doors at EMI. Are they negotiating with outside investors, dangling a new Coldplay album at a specific time? Who knows? Also, does anyone know -- when a band contracts for a certain number of albums, is it spelled out how many of those releases must be new material? Can then fulfill their obligation by throwing in a live and/or greatest hits CD? And one last thought (sorry, I'm running my mouth...), I do think the boys were a little too visible for a little too long. I've friends who are casual fans and they were getting tired of seeing/hearing them everywhere. I think it will do them good to "disappear" for a bit -- and, trust me, it pains me to admit this!
  2. [quote= I wonder if that copy is still somewhere ... Can you imagine how much it would bring on ebay???? :stunned:
  3. I'd bet they schedule their projects so that she's home while he's on tour and he's home while she's on location.
  4. LOL! Yeah, this news certainly didn't add too much to my day.
  5. Seriously doubt that, bands make a large percentage of their money from touring, not record sales. But you are right, I think Chris will never be far from music. Yes.
  6. Oh, yes, good lord, those eyes.
  7. That's certainly not a problem with his shoes! :laugh3:
  8. The shoes. For heaven's sake, I'm sending this man some shoes.
  9. Hmmm, interesting. The album is being made for small venues but they may not be able to perform in them. So how will they tour #5?
  10. Anxiously awaiting the new Interpol.
  11. I hear you. AROBTTH & Amsterdam are my one/two punch (depends on the day which is which). Such raw emotion in each. Maybe when they tour album #4, they will revisit them and they will be discovered by newish fans.

Also, apart from the obvious in Strawberry Swing, you can hear Chris say something seconds before he starts singing. Almost sounds like "f*ck" but that doesn't seem quite right...:stunned:
  13. "A Rush of Blood to the Head" at #25? There's no excuse for that. :veryangry2:

    "This band is so productive!!!!"
  15. I don't post much but some of my favorites have already been ranked. I better not see "A Rush of Blood to the Head" or "Amsterdam" any time soon.:veryangry2:
  16. Very nice. Seriously, you should get some more stuff together and market yourself via Myspace, etc. I'd buy the mp3. Do you have any formal training or play any instruments?
  17. Ahhh, you are so right. Unfortunately, I'm probably a little older than most of you and am listening while raising kids, driving to work, cooking, cleaning, living. But this is fun, when I've got the time.
  18. Cool idea. It will force me to sit still and really listen closely to the album. Here's my first little discovery -- In the 2nd verse of "Don't Panic," where Jonny sings the lead the Chris is in the background, they both end with "All of us are done for," but Chris quietly repeats "done for," alone. Not a big find, but I never noticed it before. Guess that's the purpose of this thread. :P I think it's a great idea to start a separate thread for each album.
  19. Can anyone make out what Homer says after Chris says he'll play the tambourine & Homer can sing? Whatever it is, it cracks everyone up and I can't make it out. Adorable!

  21. I'm just having a hard time wrapping my brain around "acoustic" & "Eno." And I agree, I think it would be best if they disappear for a bit. While we uberfans don't want that, I think the rest of the world does.
  22. I don't like the LP version at all, however I love the live piano version for very specific reasons: 1. The LP version sounds too upbeat & poppy for the lyrics. I mean Chris is singing about "the hardest part" and the beat is light & breezy. The piano version is more soulful and matches the sentiments of the song. 2. I love the harmony between Chris & Will in the live version. You can clearly hear Will and he's got a great voice and blends beautifully with Chris. 3. Postcards blends so well with it, they sound like they belong together. 4. That girl is annoying.
