The Goldrush chords
No, someone released a nigh-lossless FLAC rip of the vinyl a while ago. I think it's still lying around somewhere on one of these hard drives...

Cover of Charlie Brown
it's a bit off time as you already know (generally a bad idea to distribute something that has something wrong with it!) but I think it's a very great effort nonetheless! :) Next time, record with the click track for added win! :D

The Goldrush chords
Haha!? Naw, got it from an obscure little video game called splinter cell :) it was the easiest name to come up with for the game's forums, seven years ago...unfortunately the name has stuck... :P

okay hi so like um im nervous and stuff
I'M TRYING TO IMPRESS A GIRL BUT I DONT THINK SHE LIKES ME AND I WROTE HER A SONG SO SHOULD I MAKE AN ELABORATE MUSIC VIDEO AND PRESENT IT TO HER IN A THEATRE OR JUST RUN AWAY TO PERTH Just kidding, I'm older than that. (Most days, anyway.) But hopefully it got your attention. My Presonus Bluetube finally arrived in the mail so I'm considering doing some youtube covers now that I can generate some decent sound. I'm running guitar+mic through a behringer mixer into my macbook and then processing the signal with Reason+Record, so (outside of acoustic treatment) the audio quality won't be a problem. (Can't say the same for my cold-affected voice, but time heals most things.) I've been wanting to make videos for youtube for quite some time - I mean, outside of machinima's and short films - but I've never "quite got around to it". Truthfully I've felt intimidated by the bipolar reception, and/or outstanding quality, of other youtube musicians. TL;DR? So, here's my question. What do people want to see from a cover on youtube? Would people like dramatic, DOF shots of my mixer, the bouncing levels on my recording software, some creative camera angles of the recording process, my singing into my microphone and playing guitar with some cheesy vignetting and colour grading? Do people want to see a small band doing their thing, In My Place music video style, or just one guy doing all the parts? (For the record - all instruments/interpretation and performance can be done by me, and I'd be aiming for nearly-studio quality sound and nearly-professional quality film.) Do people not care about the performing process and would be more interested in watching a music video that I design with the cover playing in the background? Or shall I just sit my iPhone up against a wall and play? I appreciate any and all responses. :) EDIT: Oh yeah, and I'll be starting with Major Minus and Us Against The World.

I need tips for barre chords!
just my two cents - honestly it's something that improves with time, there's really no "overnight" fix, it's just practice and experience (and all the lovely lovely advice above) and eventually the barres will feel more natural. but man, i cannot emphasis the importance of moving your wrist. so many guitarists try to play the whole song with their arm locked in some static position, their elbows and wrists like statues. Let the process be organic, move like it matters and play like you mean it. :) And, perhaps most important - watch the pros!

Major Minus Guitar Chords (Chris)
Yours works. I happen to like mine, so I'll hopefully be posting a cover of it within the next week or two. Team effort :)

Major Minus Guitar Chords (Chris)
I tried UATW tuning, no result (But I sure did have some fun with the tuning!) I noticed the twelfth fret strums, usually that's an Open giveaway but not in this case! Either way, it implies that went strummed open it produces a chord of some sort (technically that's true for anything). I'm fairly certain the first four strings are EADG because of the fifth chords he's playing. I may be wrong, but those look sure to me. It's just..er...all the other chord formations that don't seem to line up! Generally I leave the finding-tunings to other people so this is my first crack at it. I'm flailing in the water! :D Playing in standard is pretty fun but it doesn't produce quite the same sound...it's that "sound" i'm after! EDIT Here, give this a shot: (you can use standard tuning, I used the Trouble tuning you suggested) they got one eye watching you, one eye on what you do: eadgbd 079900->0 10 12 12 0 0 (so, power chords of Em and G, sliding between the two) so be careful what it is: 757000 you're trying to do: 799700

Major Minus Guitar Chords (Chris)
i have nooooooooooo clue what that tuning is. I've been staring at the chord formations trying to figure out what on earth would produce that sound. jonny's part was so easy in comparison...! edit: sudden brainwave! could it be the same tuning as Us Against The World? I'm about to go to sleep but if someone does try it let me know!

Moving To Mars: LISTENING PARTY! Countdown to Friday 24th June, 11.45am (BST)
I love all the new stuff actually! As a musician myself I'm listening to it with fresher ears and to me it's all amazing! Hurts like Heaven sounds a little uninspired but I haven't heard a good quality rip so I can't judge it too soon! And yes, I agree with you completely reignxoflove! Sounds a lot like their old stuff! Which is great!!

Fearne's making us listen to Kesha before a coldplay premiere? Of course. I mean, that's completely logical. O_o

Moving To Mars: LISTENING PARTY! Countdown to Friday 24th June, 11.45am (BST)
Morning, evening, afternoon and everything in between. I don't know how far I'd go to say these songs are Coldplay's "New Sound" - they're quite reminiscent and a clear step forward from tracks like Glass of Water, Lovers in Japan and Cemeteries of London in my opinion (with some healthy influence from other bands - obviously ETIAW was based around an influence! But sampling profits everybody). I actually think this new stuff sounds very coldplay, especially considering Us Against The World :) I also love the comments that Jonny's taking over; I love his new work (mastering the licks of ETIAW and MM already!) but I personally think it's Guy's work on those bass tunes that bring out the real shine! I always think ETIAW is a good track right up until that last bit where Guy brings in this tune...you can see how much fun he's having when he's playing it live...and MM's bass line has got me stumped, it's so complex! Apologies for the rant :D five minutes!

maricircus, that's correct. Good morning Basilica. :) Strawberry Swinger, that's tough luck. Some people in 'the biz' make you wonder why it's even worthwhile. Until the band's onstage and the audience is smiling, and it all seems okay! Also: For conversation, while we wait...what's people's thoughts on the Major Minus studio version? (given that it does sound quite different to the live version)

Hehe! Telemarketers or someone nice enough to remind you that coldplay's new song is airing and you shouldn't be sleeping? ;)

Moving To Mars: LISTENING PARTY! Countdown to Friday 24th June, 11.45am (BST)
Good morning Strawberry Swinger! If only home phones could be put on silent. Glad to be living in Melbourne. Somewhere around 8:30pm for me, same with ETIAW. :) I'm tentative on the lyrics but you can't judge a song before you've heard it!

do we get to see some covers made with the instruments? ;)

I made a short music video - can I get some constructive criticism?
I'll be honest when I say that I really liked it but it felt like the piano melody is too simple :) Two days is a small amount for a song to develop itself. Music is not a race :) It's a great start though, keep working at it!

A message 2010- full cover, every instrument
The only advice I have to give you is to practice performing. A lot. Put the music through your headphones, rig up a microphone, and then get the microphone's output to go through your headphones as well - so you can hear yourself AND the song at the same time. Now just practice infinitely until your timing is flawless and you're hitting the notes in your sleep. :) The road to music is one of repetition and hard work, no one has shortcuts but some people do take longcuts. "Don't try and reinvent the wheel" is some very good advice when it comes to music. Just take it slow and only start posting your videos to youtube or the forum when you're confident about them. :) People take you at your own word, so if you say it still needs work, then youtube surfers will likely bypass it! sad but true ;) That said, your cover isn't so bad as some people here say. You do have the skill there, you just need more practice time. The headphones-mic-song setup was the most effective for me, if you find something else that works for you then go for it! Most of all, good luck! :)
