Paradise synth and sh*t
I wrote a super detailed comment and I just wiped it by accident. SO ANNOYED LOL. It's a decent effort. Use a click track if it's audio, but if the synth is midi then quantize. Add some sawtooth or run it through some overdrive to give it the edge you hear in the song. The bass hits some good frequencies though, not bad. The strings could use some adjusting on the ADSR envelope and some extending of the high+low mids. Increase the attack and give it some more high end. If you have a tremolo patch, try that instead for the intro. Use a warm synth patch as the drums kick in. The drums sound okay, but give it some compression - quick attack, slow release, try a ratio of 4:1 and tweak the threshold til you find the sweet spot, not too flat but still kicking - and some really subtle eq to bring out the hats and the kick. Good luck!

Just What Does "Mylo Xyloto" Mean?
Should've called it "Banksy: The Musical".

Vocal Effect
As an amateur producer I can assure you that it is not autotune. It's more likely to be an overdrive stompbox. I've previously used guitar effects on vocals to achieve the same feeling. Oddly enough, the song I used it on was quite thematically similar to Major Minus, so I guess authority fear and crushed vocals go well together.

Why is Major Minus so underrated?
I love every single thing about this song. Sure the live version is better but the studio version is enormous too. :)

How to string a guitar?
I've heard that many times, but I've seen a professional remove them all at once and it didn't damage the guitar in the long run so I'm not sure how viable that advice is. Personally though, I unwind the string until it's loose enough to remove rather than snip them, that way the guitar can adjust. :)

How to string a guitar?
Welcome to the forums kylee! Google google google. Actually some of the tutorials out there are a bit useless. so since i cant sleep i'll quickly type one up. But PLEASE watch a video BEFORE reading my instructions, just in case ive said something wrong! 1. remove all previous strings. 2. clean surface of guitar, fretboard. 3. remove bridge pin for the low e string. insert string's end with the little ring on it for a little way. insert the pin over it. it should feel like its not gonna come out again without a hefty tug. 4. stretch the string out to the neck. thread it through the (peg? i forget the term, the thing with the hole where the string goes in). With a comfortable (about 10cm) amount of slack above the fretboard, about enough to put your fist through, twist the string out the end of the peg into a right angle turn. leaving a bit of room, chop off the excess. 5. now tighten the peg so that the string will end up winding around it from the inside of the head outward (so, for me, this means turn it counterclockwise). try and make the first turn go over the string, and then the rest of them go under. this is a tricky art to master. watch tutorials! 6. once it's starting to get tight, fit the string into its groove in the nut and tighten it until it's making a note. doesn't matter which note, just don't make it too tight! 7. do the same for all the other strings. the high strings, B and E, don't require as much slack as the others. 8. now use a tuner to tune them all up to concert pitch. i prefer to use standard tuning on fresh strings just to wear them in a bit, and then you can retune to alternates later. 9. once it's all in an tuned up, do weird things with it! the best trick is to bend the strings up and down quite ridiculously at about the 12th fret. this will make it go out of tune. keep retuning it until it stops going out. then move on to the next one. 10. Here's a neat trick a guy taught me once. The excess on the gold threaded strings will snap off easily if you just twist it around a bit. this is why you leave enough excess to grab onto (and also in case you do something wrong, you can just undo it, smooth it out and try again!) 11. snip off and neaten up the high strings with pliars or weapon of choice. 12. you're done! i claim no liability if you try this tutorial without consulting any others (or a professional) first!

Rate/Critisize (or whatever) my cover please.
Posts: 1,000 CONGRATS ;D You completely undersold yourself here and without good reason! I thought this was cover was impressive and completely listenable. Especially if you've only been playing guitar for two weeks? That can't be right, surely? This is far too professional for that. The backing tracks go down quite well! And those vocal effects are trippy as pie. Your voice sounds great! There's a certain charm to the quality of your voice. Those guitar parts sound great, especially with the way you've overlayered them. I feel a bit silly with all my expensive software if you can produce such good results with audacity! ;) I hope to see more! :)

Us Against The World Cover
Cheers man! The reason I recorded this is because I was experimenting with mic positions. So, it's far from perfect. The extra reverb is mostly to put some proverbial gaffa tape over my room's bad acoustics... :D Thanks all!!! A much warmer response than I could have hoped for! Maybe I will do some more after all...and track the vocals separately this time :P Champion - It's mutual! And hey, I just might! :)

Tab Songbooks
Hal Leonard sells the books at good music stores or online, but it'll be pricey. (We're talking 80USD here, the last time I checked.) Coldplay instruments I've made
Sitting at my computer at home I actually went "WHOOOAA" verbally. I wish I could pay you to do mine too, but Oxford is a long way away :D

Okay, so I'm back with an original song. Don't kill me.
Write a lead line, and finalise it. Rehearse rehearse rehearse. When you're ready, record each instrument seperately with a click track in your headphones (don't let the click come up in the recording!) and send it to me. :)

Okay, so I'm back with an original song. Don't kill me.
Nice feel to it :) The electric guitar doesn't mesh very well though and sounds awkwardly improvised, I'd revise and rehearse it. Excellent vocals and the acoustic guitar rhythm sounds fantastic. It would do alright with some percussion and bass. Would you be interested in creating a more professional demo? I can help out.
