  1. [offtopic :wacky:] *moves to visitor messages* In the meantime, my second fave piece of merch is my U2 shirt :)
  2. I feel your pain. same problem with pants. I've been weightlifting a lot (lower body), and if I get jeans that fit my quads, they're always huuuge at the waist. very frustrating. belts are a neccessity.
  3. its true though. really.
  4. good grief! that means that strap is like... $55?! outrageous.:stunned: that's a really cool shirt, btw. *wants* but it only comes in XL! I only have a beatles cover band shirt, but I'm going to this really old record store that apparently has some good stuff next week. probably will spend far too much money there, but then again, it's in the policy! :D
  5. how much was it in the shop? I ordered it for $30, which wasn't too bad. The way I see it with merch is, my policy on anything music related is that most of what I earn goes into the music funds. It's the one thing I allow: I can spend any amount on music. Whether it's guitar straps, tab books, merch, concerts, or albums. So I don't buy a couple of new pairs of shoes or jeans or make a homemade gift here or there.... whatever. what's most important to me is definitely worth it!
  6. Hmmm I just realized, my fitness coach looks like matt bellamy :blank:
  7. It sounds like Imagine, Jack Johnson, Jimi Hendrix, and a little bit of Give Peace A Chance collectively had a baby. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zT0Uhyllqx8]YouTube- Jack Johnson At or With Me (New with Lyrics)[/ame]
  8. that was cool. their Oh Darling was really good. I wonder if they write their own music in addition to just doing Beatles songs.
  9. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JHrfq7h6CA]YouTube- Blackbird (recently discovered demo recording)[/ame] no shortage of profanities in here but... I hate Yoko
  10. Exile On Main Street (remastered) - The Rolling Stones To The Sea - Jack Johnson
  11. that's exactly what I was worried about. I did a lot of research to see if it was okay to see Rain, if the really avid fans approved of them, and I'm glad I did go to see them. everyone had a lot of fun. when I did my research, the ony downsides that other people were found was that it was overpriced for a cover band ($60, plus shipping) and that they were too egotistical (isn't that the topic of the day...) I'll really pay any price for a concert that I'd enjoy. they did ask for encouragement a lot but it got everyone singing along and having fun. I'll never see the Beatles, so this is the closest I can get. I'd also like to go see Paul McCartney. if you would rather not, that makes total sense, I understand. but I approved it. which pretty much counts for everything.
  12. My revolver guitar strap :awesome:
  13. meh. but they were entertaining.
  14. dear prudence is great. The night before last, I went to see Rain with some of my best friends. They are, supposedly, the best Beatles tribute band there is. And I'd agree. it started out with the Ed Sullivan show, and they played a good set of songs from that stage in their career. the show spanned from Ed Sullivan through to Shea Stadium, Sgt. Pepper's, Abbey Road and Let It Be. probably more, I don't remember. it was uncanny, how perfectly they followed the original tracks. The voices, especially Paul's, were very much the same. and the guy who was playing Paul looked like him too. And George. I'm sure if you saw them up close, you wouldn't think so, but it was amazing. It was also really impressive how, since the Beatles stopped playing live after 1965 (except for the rooftop session), they could recreate all the engineering-heavy later songs. There are lots of subtle little things in the songs that they hit perfectly, like the enounciations in When I'm Sixty Four and saying "in" after "don't you know that you can count me out" in Revolution. the guitar solo in While My Guitar Gently Weeps was sick. There also was a cool 3-screen video showing most of the time, except for songs like yesterday and let it be, when it had a better effect not to show anything. they liked showing old footage of beatlemaniacs interspersed with live shots of the crowd. The costumes and set were great, and the set was really long too, with an intermission. some people might get critical about one of these bands, but these guys were true to the actual Beatles. they put a lot of energy into it and it definitely paid off. it was awesome. 5/5.
  15. yeah that's what I meant. I like listening to them together anyway. I know Rocks Off was in the original album, but I'm 16, this remaster was the only way that I was really exposed to the album. I really really wish more people were into the Stones where I live. my dad's a huge fan, supposedly, but we never listened to this album! thus, I've just started listening to it. and I like that song best. better late than never I guess, it's brilliant!
  16. no no, the album itself. 28 songs.
  17. bought it. it's long, and sometimes repetitive, but I'm getting used to it. I really like the first track, Rocks Off [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqEi1rmwEm4]YouTube- The Rolling Stones ("Rocks Off")[/ame] It has one of my favourite Stones lyrics: The sunshine bores the daylights outta me Chasing shadows, moonlight mystery :guitarist:
  18. okay, I concur
  19. THAT wait what? I thought we just said egos are okay.
  20. oh looks like I missed a bit. well, maybe it was a bit inappropriate, but I think it might depend on the audience there. not that you should change your opinion for other people, but if you feel more comfortable voicing it because you think the people there might want to hear it, then so be it. do what you feel is right, even if it's on impulse. thats how I like to live.
  21. :laugh3: well that makes sense. my dad influences my musical tastes too. and I think I influence his a lot. I guess I wasn't a huge fan of Hey Jude before, but I find it comforting now. not the lyrics necessarily. just hearing the familiar tune. and you have to admit, this is awesome: :awesome: yeah I lol'd at that picture of Paul too :laugh3:
  22. alright. time to test my knowledge and opinions of classic rock. I really hope I don't make a fool of myself...
  23. what did your father think about it? PS, your sig is the best thing ever.
  24. oh man I love Tom. I hope I can see him on the 15th, he's got a great tune or two. or many. many.
  25. you said it.
