  1. I can't wait for Cresty to come in here and smack you upside the head.
  2. Doesn't "writing down the debt" ultimately cost all of the taxpayers? Maybe I'm missing something here.
  3. Dave Grohl's up there. I'd also have to go with the likes of Don Henley and Phil Collins, mostly from the aspect of their all-around talent. It seems like it would be incredibly difficult to be the lead singer whilst doing all that drumming. It is completely different from playing guitar or piano whilst being lead singer; you have to keep a level singing voice while pounding away, plus you're essentially leading everybody else in the band by keeping everything in line with the beat.
  4. Oooohhhhh, they should make some Coldplay scissors so I can cut my Coldplay shirt to show off my Coldplay cleave. wait what
  5. When reading too quick, all my mind saw was... gottaloveanicebitofmerchright
  6. I wish that some of the women's shirts had a lower neckline instead of everything all up against the neck. I WANNA SHOW SOME CLEAVAGE, DUDE
  7. To the OP and to anyone else in this conundrum... I'll just tell you my story. Maybe it will help, maybe it won't. In high school my parents were kind of pressuring me to figure out what kind of degree I wanted to get; at the same token, I know they couldn't pay oodles of money for the best college/uni. Thankfully UofMichigan (Flint campus) offered me two years' worth of a half-tuition scholarship. Even after that was done (which took me over 4 years because I also couldn't figure out what I wanted to do), tuition was still relatively cheap (a fraction of the cost of the main Ann Arbor campus). Got a prestigious UofMichigan degree, at a community college price. In general, employers don't care about those details. In regard to figuring out what to do with my life, originally I thought I wanted to be a forensic pathologist (that kind of thing interested me). Then I wanted to be a physical therapist, and they have an awesome degree at UofM for that, so I declared that my major. Shortly after that, I realized that degree wasn't for me. I changed my major to "undeclared", and kept it that way for 2 years. In other words... I made the decision not to stress about it. And brace yourself, this may sound corny, but... take a "Strong Interest Inventory" test. Be honest with your answers. That's what I did, and the top 5 results helped steer me in the right direction. Actuary was one of the results, and after doing a little research I realized that was a really good fit. I changed my major to actuarial science, locked in a job a few months before graduation, and have been doing it ever since. I love it. And I would advise you to try to specialize in some way if you get a degree. Three people I know who went to school with me all got Bachelors degrees in Business... along with thousands of other people at that school. Their logic of getting a degree that would be good for all sorts of great-paying jobs backfired, because SO many other people were doing the same thing. What did their Business degree get them? One works on the railroad, another drives a delivery truck, and the other is an assistant manager at a grocery store. Long story short, as hard as it may be, don't freak out about it. Don't feel obligated to decide what to do with the rest of your life the day you graduate from high school.
  8. Nope, she's not banned. :nice: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/member.php?u=92305
  9. hahahahaha this would have been so awesome to unknowingly bump into him http://gawker.com/bryan-cranston-secretly-cosplayed-as-walter-white-at-co-868979363 Bryan Cranston Secretly Cosplayed As Walter White at Comic-Con At yesterday's San Diego Comic-Con Breaking Bad panel, Bryan Cranston shocked fans when he revealed that the man who was walking around the convention center wearing a lifelike Walter White mask was actually Walter White. That is to say, it was actually Cranston cosplaying as his own character. The actor went on to say that he had been chatting up unsuspecting fans while disguising his voice "in a higher register." Cranston's co-star Aaron Paul noted that Cranston was "the most professional person I’ve ever worked with but also the most immature man I’ve ever experienced, as you can tell. Which is a beautiful combination."
  10. AWESOMENESS oh and Daryl's looking niiiiice
  11. Or you could just have me drive down the road a few miles from my office and snap a few pics. No. The (private sector) auto bailout (which taxpayers actually benefited from in the end), is a different can of worms than the (public sector) city bankruptcy. That's mostly due to the insane decline in population in the city over the past several decades. Ongoing expenses, but spiraling property tax income... that's destructive. I'm certainly not pro-UAW by any means, but that's not what "destroyed Detroit". That debate can continue in the news section though.
  12. All week we've had temperatures at 35°C, with such high humidity that the heat index is 40°C. Supposed to get thunderstorms later today, so we'll finally get relief from the heat!
  13. Although that would be nice, I have a feeling that won't be the case. Most people in the crowd are filming more for the "look see I was there" aspect of it, as opposed to getting the audio itself per say.
  14. Shelves Stocked for Twinkies' 'Sweetest Comeback' Let "the sweetest comeback in the history of ever" commence. Twinkies make their official nationwide return to retailers today, making their first appearance since they were pulled from shelves in November. The snacks' triumphant re-emergence was made possible by the private equity firms Apollo Global Management and Metropoulous & Co., which struck a $410 million deal with Hostess Brands when it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. In taking over the iconic snack brand, the firms have ensured that not just Twinkies would be back for mass consumption. CupCakes, Donettes, Zingers, HoHos and Ding Dongs will also go on sale nationwide on Monday as well. The new Twinkies' have some differences from the original tried and true formula that fans have come to know and love. The snack's shelf life has extended to 45 days, almost three weeks longer than the 26 days the former Twinkie was supposed to stay fresh. What's New About the Twinkie and Other Hostess Brands Favorites "America wanted Hostess back -- they wanted the original. Very soon consumers will once again be able to enjoy Twinkies, CupCakes and other great Hostess snack cakes. A comeback by any other name could never be as sweet," Daren Metropoulos, principal of Metropoulos & Co., said in a statement to ABC News in June upon the news of the snacks' highly anticipated return. But some stores broke the spongy cake embargo set for July 15 and put the cream-filled treats on their shelves earlier than the company called for. Wal-Mart announced that the cakes would be available at about 1,6000 stores on Friday, and that nearly 4,000 of its U.S. stores would stock the snacks by Sunday morning, The Associated Press reported. Supermarket operator Kroger, which owns Ralphs, Fry's and Food 4 Less, also said the cakes were available in about a quarter of its more than 2,400 stores Friday and planned for more boxes to line shelves over the weekend, the AP reported. But the snack manufacturer said in a statement it shipped out products for retailers to sell the treats on Monday. "Hostess has not, and is not, giving any particular retailer exclusivity or preference to have products first and is making a great effort to fulfill orders equally and timely to everyone," the company said in a statement to the AP. link
  15. If they want to have an article about him that's fine and dandy, but his face being plastered on the cover is pretty close to the top of the wtfery list. Some retailers have already decided not to sell the magazine. I'm sure Willie Nelson, Jay-Z, Robin Thicke and Gary Clark Jr. are thrilled to see their names framing the side of that guy's face.
  16. Eeek, that's a bit cringe-worthy. But at least they didn't steal the mail from his mailbox.
  17. I swear I didn't write this 1. Carrie hottest girl ever. always hard to get. sassy and classy at the same time. stunning eyes that draws you in. gorgeous and sexy. usually looks for independence and always good at everything. a dime piece, the realest bitch. never betrays her friends and always keeps her word.
  18. I watched a little HLN news this morning, and one thing that's being brought up is the fact that there was no information in the jury instructions describing the difference between direct evidence and circumstantial evidence. So, if Zimmerman is found guilty of either murder 2 or manslaughter, that will be a big issue/point during the appeal.
  19. This whole thing never would have happened if Zimmerman would have simply not pursued Martin... when he was on the phone with the police, they specifically instructed him not to follow Martin. "okay, we don't need you to do that..." Zimmerman says he was just trying to defend himself. Well, even if Martin was "attacking" Zimmerman, that could have been because Martin was trying to defend himself from somebody that approached him with a gun. In any event, it looks like this might wrap up today. Due to the burden of proof for the second degree murder charge, he might have been acquitted. But recently the judge has decided to allow the option for the jury to consider a charge of manslaughter. I think manslaughter will be the outcome. Interestingly enough, even if Zimmerman "only" gets the manslaughter charge, he could still go to prison for life because of Florida's laws regarding guns. Here's some relevant detail : The six jurors will have three options for their verdict: guilty of second-degree murder, guilty of manslaughter and not guilty. To win a second-degree murder conviction, prosecutors must prove Zimmerman showed ill will, hatred or spite — a burden the defense has argued the state failed to meet. To get a manslaughter conviction, prosecutors must show only that Zimmerman killed without lawful justification. Under Florida's laws related to gun crimes, manslaughter could end up carrying a penalty as heavy as the one for second-degree murder: life in prison.
  20. We do not elect CIA and NSA employees. They are part of collective "government" so to speak, but "we the people" do not elect them.
  21. Can't wait! And for those who are interested, AMC is running all episodes from seasons 1-5 (thus far), on Fridays after midnight, from now through the season 5 1/2 premiere. Oh and there's a rap song that sampled the "say my name" bit, I found it rather amusing. I only heard it once and I don't remember who it was, I'll try to find it sometime.
