  1. One word: SPARKS. Not only underrated, but I believe it's one of there best songs. It's my favorite song! I also agree on spies and we never change.
  2. He is. So am I, and my opinion is it is a bit rude to state your opinion as a fact. Wow that's like a paradox :P. On subject, it's just nice to have some concrete news!
  3. I noticed the same thing in another thread, giving his opinion like it's a fact. While I agree I'd much rather have new songs on LP5, none of the EP songs are bad, in my opinion, they're all great! Some member of the month he is. Sorry maybe I'm being rude now:\
  4. Best thing I've read on the forums maybe ever! Hilarious, absolutely hilarious! :laugh3:
  5. I'm kindly gonna have to agree to disagree with you sir. I think Coldplay have gotten progressively better and better with each album (OK, x&y was a letdown, but as you said, viva is there best, which I agree, so I'd say they recovered nicely) and I think this may be there best album yet. You say they "lost there sound", but how can a band lose there sound? It really is impossible, a band's sound is whatever they want it too, it's there music. Now whether that pleases all is a different story, but that's just a matter of opinion. ( For instance, although x&y is my least favorite album, there are those who think it's the best, I cannot change that, and would not try to) But I digress, my defense of our favorite band is this: If anything coldplay have found there sound again. Listen to parachutes, the piano only features strongly in 2 songs, ENL and Trouble. Everything else was raw acoustic and electric guitar. Notice how in every new song performed live ( For the sake of this argument, I will not even consider ETIAW ) features Chris on acoustic guitar and well of course Johnny tearing it up. Now of course we are not going to get parachutes part 2, or viva la vida part 2, but why would we want that? That would be boring and repetitive. To me that's what makes an album special, it cannot, nor should it try to be repeated. Coldplay is taking even longer then usaul to complete this album, and you say the are trying to hard, but would we want them to not try and just phone it in? Coldplays work ethic and humility to realize they can always get better is what makes them, in my opinion, the best band in the world. So if they think they are putting out there BEST effort with this album, who are we to doubt them? Whether or not you or I like it, is just a matter of taste and opinion, but I have NO doubt coldplay will put out a well thought out and well put together album, they have proved over there career just how good they are, and we can only look to the past, to know what we can expect in the future. Yes I also believe VLVoDAAHF is there best album yet, and this next one may not be better, but I think it will be. Yes it will be different, sure you may not like it, but change is just part of life, and while not always, sometimes it can be for the best. I think I can speak for every Coldplay fan, yourself included, when I say, I hope you're wrong. And to speak for myself only, I can honestly say I know you are wrong. They will not release a disappointing album, and if I'm wrong well I just stuck my foot and my mouth, but we'll cross that road when we get to it. How about in the meantime we just take our boys advice " Just be patient and don't worry" "Cause you lost your faith, and you never should have, no you never should have" " And I have NO DOUBT, one day the sun will come out" P.S Yes they should bring back Lovers in Japan, amazing live song!:)
  6. OK.. I kinda, i mean barely agree with you on MM, but charlie brown?? Are you crazy! I think to most, not all, but the majority of coldplay fans that would be like dropping fix you or viva or clocks out of the setlist. It might make you happy, but I doubt it would make most coldplay fans happy, which is why it certainly would NOT be the best show ever if they dropped Charlie Brown. ( Sorry, I think i just got a little defensive of my favorite new song:P )
  7. Friendly Fires - Hawaiian Air Freelance Whales - Location
  8. Very nice. Good voice, great piano playing and an excellent song! One of my favorites, and while covering coldplay can be tricky cause they're so damn amazing, I'd say you did a fine job, and actually did the song justice, Nice work.
  9. Ummm... no. I think you're thinking of HLH.. while I can see hints of Arcade Fire inspiration in that song, I don't really think Charlie Brown sounds anything like Arcade Fire.
  10. Well now we're just getting all kinds of crazy!! :shocked2: lol. Ahh those wacky time travelers!
  11. Yes this more then likely true, but it's just so fun to speculate! If even a hair of my theory or "fantasy" becomes reality I'll be so happy! But if it doesn't I'll probably be happier, cause after all, they're the creative artist. I'm just a guy with dreams...
  12. Did you read my original post? I think there is a deeper meaning and I have my theory. I doubt my theory will be even close to true, but I do strongly believe it's not a coincidence that they play BTTF theme before every show!
  13. Well technically it is the closer song. Til Kingdom come is a hidden track, technically. :smug:
  14. I Love the title "car kids"!! I just think it fits perfectly with this era :)
  15. So what is your guys favorite album opener and closer? And why? Mine are Opener: Politik. Probably the best Coldplay song, and it's just such an epic way to start such an epic cd, especially those first 5 songs! Closer: DAAHF. Also one of my favorite Coldplay songs, and that chant at the end is just such a breathtaking way to end an amazing album. Keep in mine for the purpose of this thread I'm not including hidden tracks.
  16. Politik or fix you.. or viva la vida.. or ETIAW.. or.. lol sorry I'll stop, there are just so many!
  17. I don't think most people necessarily dislike the new stuff, (Except for ETIAW and maybe studio version of Major Minus), I think they just want MORE new stuff. They don't want to feel cheated or feel like they've tarnished LP5 cause they've heard so much of it live already. Basically they want to go into LP5 with virgin ears, and while I somewhat agree, I also wouldn't mind if ALL the songs we've heard already made the cut, so long as we got an EP after with some of the other material they've written. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it seems to me that Coldplay may be entering or transitioning into thier "studio years" in which we could easily get 2 or 3 albums in 2 or 3 years. I know it's a stretch, but it would be nice cause I honestly don't believe they're gonna keep doing this into their 40's. I think they'll put out a couple more albums, bow there heads and say thanks for everything.
  18. I thought the same at first. But then I thought of other songs like The world turned upside down, which contains the lyric "X and Y", but that did not stop them from naming a song, and for that matter the album of the same name, X&Y. Coldplay tend to use recurring themes in their music. For instance "singing out" or sing it out is on parachutes and AROBTTH, in Sparks, ENL and In my place. The subject of being lost has been continual through their whole career. "Now my feet won't touch the ground" is another example. All that being said I think it's very possible that this era will be the whole symphony thing, ETIAW, MTM (and possibly Space Symphony) and "Us against the world", the song and the lyric from Major Minus. Sorry if I went off a bit, think I had too much coffee, :D
  19. Well your concern is understood. Let's just hope this is their best album yet! OT, I do like the OP storyline. Sounds like it make a good Michael Bay movie, lol
  20. From what we've heard at the festivals, I don't think it will sound like X&Y at all. I also share your sentiment, I wouldn't want it to sound like X&Y either, that is my least favorite album(sorry to X&Y fans), but I do like a lot of songs from it as well, it's just not up to par with the other 3. But about the story, how do you feel about the whole idea of it being about space? Or does the graffiti thing catch your attention more? Cause my theory is it will be about both.:smug:
  21. I don't understand that statement though.. X&Y really had nothing at all to do with space. Sure a few songs had a spacey sound to them, but we're talking bout the story here, not the sound. I don't think musically LP5 will sound at all similar to X&Y or any other Coldplay album, it will sound like LP5. As for the story I love the whole space/graffiti thing!
  22. Hmmm interesting. I have a similar idea, but mine involves time travel and is more abstract. But I think whatever it turns out to be, we'll be able to envision our own story. I even have story in my head for VLVoDAAHF. I enjoyed how you broke it down track by track, I should have done that in my thread, but I was too lazy :embarrassed:
  23. Sweet only 4 more years! We might even have LP5 by then! :laugh3:
  24. Sweet my thread has a pic of darth vader! When I made this thread I had no idea it would become a Star Wars Discussion, lol. Maybe Chris can incorporate a little Star Wars into LP5? Why not?
  25. Well some are songs we've heard live already, and of course ETIAW is already released. The others are rumored songs, read right before in my post, its just my "dream" tracklist. The length is just to show that we could easily get an album with 12 or more songs that's still around 42 minutes long, the lengths are also invented for the purpose of my idea. Sorry if I misled you in anyway :(
