  1. Tears don't have to be associated with sadness. I thought people knew that? I've often found myself crying because of how happy I was. Or because of how funny something someone said was. Just like a waterfall isn't sad. it's exhilarating, exciting, noisy, compelling, heart-racing. Anything but sad/depressing. :P
  2. I'm not sure what to feel. Really at a lost for words atm. It's not what I expected though, I will give them that. But there's definitely hope. I've listened about five times since returning home a short while ago and it seems to get better every time. It's not a bad song I don't think. I just don't know how to process it yet. I might well be obsessed with it in a week. lol Not true about the Violet Hill thing I read awhile back. Well, maybe it was here and that people were skeptical about/displeased with it. But for some reason i loved it since the first time I got it off the site and heard it. It had that somewhat hard-rock feel with the jarring riffs that I always listened to with my Dad. Maybe that's why.
  3. So I've read through about 80 pages this and I can't help but think. ` 1. Friday will probably be either one of the best or worst days in a really long time. So glad for some news finally either way. 2. I never realized how much people complained. Every other post I swear. Is there no gratification and thanks in the Coldplay fanbase? And I thought I complained a lot. 3. (Unrelated) How do you get a referral? Is there like a record? 4. Despite all the criticism it's gotten. :P I love this. Passionate. Sincere and honest. Deep. And I couldn't have said this better myself. I find it especially hard not to like songs by Coldplay. It's like a disease. A good one of course. :)
  4. Yes. Very well put. Coldplay=greatness. The universe would end before they put out a bad album. (exaggerated but the truth :P ). And different is good. Change leads to progress. Remaining the same leads to stagnation, tiresome music often times. hahaha yes. HUGE difference- I agree. :] No seducing 10 or more guys every night with a 'poker face' and riding their 'disco sticks'. Arcade Fire is a very talented band. But no one beats Coldplay as far as I'm concerned. Period. 2nd? Radiohead. 3rd? Keane. 1st? Coldplay. Always. No question. We have every reason to believe locust. A track record of never being wrong in Coldplay future predictions speaks volumes. These lyrics are incredible! :) They've definitely exceeded my expectations and feelings as compared with the first two/three lyric releases. Very aesthetic, vivid, emotionally evoking, transcendent, bemusing. Love it. More like the recent ones please!
  5. Did anyone ever notice how much graffiti there was in that video? I never did. I mean, at least three different parts had some on the walls. And I'm wondering if somehow that's significant; it seems to relate to the new style and everything after all.
  6. I think unless anyone thinks they can do better than Coldplay, they shouldn't be complaining. If these are in fact lyrics, it's better than nothing. It's better than if they quit after four albums. After three. After one even. Can't we all just be glad it's not about pining after long lost loves all the time? They're braving a new direction. They're taking risks here. Can't we be even a bit supportive? I bet, if they checked these messageboards they'd look at this and go. Wow. These are our fans? What are we doing making music anymore? They all think we're awful. We might as well quit. Is that what you want? These are great lyrics. I don't care what anyone says. They're colorful. They're real. They're honest. And that's so much more than what 98% of the music industry can say these days. Why don't we focus on the positive here? Why does everyone have to be so damn negative and depressing? This is not what being a Coldplay fan is about. It's about the mutual love of their music. It's about standing up to their critics and seeing the incredible, amazing, and wonderful in the best band in the world. We're not here to tear them to shreds like that hack at the NY Times back in '05. Give them a break. They've been busting their butts since the start of '09 just for us- the fans. And this is how we thank them? This is blasphemous.
  7. You are not. I find little fault with them either. :) People are probably just getting impatient and a little on the critical side, wanting news of the new album and everything I think. Plus, I mean, they're MUSICIANS not POETS. I've always felt the focus should be on the music. I can love a song with great music and subpar lyrics. I cannot, on the other hand, get into a song with awful music no matter how good the lyrics are. I mean Coldplay isn't a pop or rap group, they don't just cheese the melody/beats and concentrate on the lyrics (And I'm not saying all do necessarily but some do for sure). The music itself is the primary focus as far as I can tell *as it should be*. Plus I'd rather have them writing their own lyrics, great or not, as opposed to bringing in seasoned writers to write the lyrics for them. I know some of the bands I like turned to that. Not cool. :| Fine. But they're NOT Miley Cyrus. And that's NOT what they're saying. There's a difference between "playing my song" and "I got my records on". The only way "records" has anything connection with pop is if you just arrived in a time machine from the 1960's. It's not like they're saying "I got my iPod on" or something like that. Seriously. It's retro and nostalgic- I like it. I can't agree more! In fact, if I'm not mistaken, they had released some artwork/lyrics before the album or the singles came out. I distinctly remember a picture that said "Reign of Love" on it, in blue I believe and those lyrics happened to be on there and I thought "well that is going to be such a bad song." And I couldn't have been more wrong! :P One more thing. And this is just a personal afterthought. I printed out the lyrics and I looked at them throughout various times of the day during school. And then this hit me. What if the lyrics aren't in the exact order? I mean, would they just make it that easy? Somehow, this lyrical swap seemed to make more sense to me. From Maybe the streets alight, maybe the trees are gone. I feel my heart start beating to my favorite song. I turn the music up, I got my records on. I shut the world outside until the lights come on. To Maybe the streets alight, maybe the trees are gone. I shut the world outside until the lights come on. I turn the music up, I got my records on. I feel my heart start beating to my favorite song.
  8. http://twitpic.com/51n5nx A link just in case anyone hasn't seen. When I first read all these comments I thought the picture in question was one of the band and not this really cool drawing which I can't see being related to anything else but LP5! It looks a lot like graffiti which I imagine is what Chris was talking about when he mentioned the White Rose Movement and everything. Plus, the pink swirl and clearly blue letters (whatever they are) are somewhat reminiscent for me of the prominent pink and blue theme of the new Coldplay website. This is an exciting teaser! Definitely something I'd expect them to do to us :D I agree. :)
  9. I remember reading somewhere they had it down to 12 tracks. Though I'm sure that could be subject to change. Regardless, I'll guess with that in mind; 1001-1 (Ballad of...) Alien Radio Alive Day Every Teardrop is a Waterfall Great Expectations Harbingers of Doom Hurts Like Heaven If I Ever Fall in Love Again Spanish Rain Space Symphony Up with the Birds Wondering Star Although I'm sure there could be tracks they haven't told us about/title changes/things like that. Just like MTM Miha said earlier.
  10. Arguing with people is worthless. "We Never Change." Done wasting my time trying to explain this.
  11. Fair enough. I could see Israel/Iran as largely a geographical/boundary and fairness of the Jewish state usurpation of Arab lands as motives. And but can't they essentially? I know several people who are devoutly religious. And according to them the only thing you can't do is not believe in God. So it seems as though it's not really promoting any good because it's saying you can commit crimes or do other non-virtuous things but as long as you believe what a book 2,000 or more years old tells you you'll be fine. There's a negative incentive for people who don't believe what they say. That doesn't make the world a better place. It just creates division inside and out of people who have their own ideals but are too afraid of going to "Hell" to be who they really are. It makes a liar out of many who wish to profess their true ideological self but can't because they're threatened by not only condemnation but social alienation. How does that make the world better? I know as someone who isn't very religious I get looked down upon all the time by people who are set in conservative ways, can't really think for themselves, and automatically assume I'm a bad person. You support gay rights? You think women should be able to have abortions if they were raped? Well, the Bible says... no free thinking mind in there when it comes to social issues. Just "what does religion tell me to think" rather than "what are the socioeconomic and political effects of each side regardless of what 'morals' say." Many figures who were evil were also religious as well. Perfect example? Hitler. Creation of Nazi Germany and the superposition of church and state. They used religious propaganda to control the masses and brainwash them into believing ethnic cleansing wasn't as evil as it truly was. And let's not forget it was SPECIFICALLY the Judaic people who were persecuted. Even if you weren't Jewish but your parents or grandparents were you were doomed. Religious genocide? Certainly. SEVEN MILLION people or more died in the name of this religious persecution. Burned. Gased. Electrocuted. Shot. Tortured. Beaten. Starved. Try explaining to them how religion made the world a better place while their innocent bodies lay piled under six feet of gravel.
  12. Definitely more peaceful and safer. People would realize they only have one life to live and make sure not to screw it up by doing something retarded. And let's take Christianity for example. The world's most common religion if I'm not mistaken. In reality, Christians can do whatever they want. They can kill, steal, or whatever and at the end of the day as long as they believe in God they'll be saved. And yet someone who is the nicest person on the planet can be atheist or agnostic or any other religion and they will have to hell for not believing in their God. See how that makes sense? It's mind control. Not to mention the anti-gay sentiment would be lessened. And Al Queda isn't the only potential example of this- just the only one anyone seems to remember. How about the Crusades? 200 years of warfare and estimated over 200,000 deaths solely in the name of religion. An utter waste of a few hundred thousand perfectly good lives. There is a constant possibility of nuclear warfare between Israel and Iran, also between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Over different religious beliefs. Even if you argue that's not the only reason, it is most certainly the basis for a majority of their differences. Religion has always spelled death for innocent lives and it wouldn't surprise me if the whole world went up in smoke over religious division. All it would take is 25 nuclear exchanges to make the world completely inhabitable for humans based on temperature and the resulting sunlight block out. Between the two examples i've given they have more than enough weapons to accomplish this several times over. All over something they have no proof of. And look at what was predicted for today. Some religious genius predicting the world was going to end today and it had my younger sister's and their friends hysterical crying and screaming. They're still worried out of their minds for absolutely nothing. This isn't necessary. This is certainly not making the world better. One last thought. Religion takes away from people's own self-worth and belief in humanity. There are many religious people I know who when something good happens to them they're all. "Thank you God" and "It was his benevolent intervention that lead me to this." Really? Meanwhile they have no self-confidence and they don't have a shred of belief in themselves. One of my friend's was told she had a 20% chance of living but she still survived oral cancer. She thanked God. Not her amazing body which overcame the disease or the human skill and hard work of the doctor that saved her. In this way, it is anti-human to be religious. If there was no promise of an after-life or omnipotent deity people would live their life the way they should, as very possibly the last one. And they might actually take/give credit for the amazing things the human body and mind can accomplish; the world would surely be a better, happier, more peaceful place.
  13. I'll be honest. I can definitely empathize with the growing sentiment of restlessness and discontent around here. I was really hoping to hear something by this past Sunday and ever since I swear I could hear "the ticking of clocks" dragging on slower than ever, day by day. But then I stepped back and thought about all of this. And I've come to a conclusion. We don't recognize how fortunate we really are. Think about it- we have the most amazing, kind, and charismatic guys on the planet creating the best music ever made (as far as I'm considered) for us. They've already put aside 10 years that could have been spent with their lovely parents, siblings wives, and kids in order to make this incredible music. This is time they can never get back. I don't know about anyone else but as far as I'm concered new music from Coldplay is in a class of it's own. For me it's always been a level for almost everything good that can possibly happen and then a mile up from that a level for hearing Coldplay's new music. Think about it. They're the one band who never disappoints. Always gives it everything they have. Doesn't focus on two/three singles like some artists but the whole album. Even their non-singles are so good it's a felony to buy specific songs and not them all. Not to mention many bands don't comment on studio progress but once or twice a year, if that. The guys are so selfless they give us an update monthly, if not every few weeks. They really do care about us fans. So is it a slight disappointment we haven't heard any news? You could argue that. But in the grand scheme of things I'm just glad for all the music they're already made. They could have canned In My Place and quit after the first album. They could have given up after struggling with the third album and ended the band. But they didn't. They persevered through everything. And just think. If A Rush of Blood to the Head had been rushed, Clocks wouldn't have been put on. I don't know about you but that's one song I can't imagine Coldplay, nor music as whole, without. So I'm more than glad they are taking their time on this if need be. I know the waiting gets tiresome and frustrating sometimes but you know what? I bet whenever we hear that album and our minds are completely blown (for a 5th time!!) by how incredible it is, we'll all realize just how well worth the wait this album was.
  14. "Harbingers of Doom", "If I Ever Fall in Love Again", and especially "Wondering Star" and "Space Symphony" for me!! I love astronomy and it reminds me of the whole planetary model they built in the studio and how they said it was affecting their writing. I wonder if that's what gave them the idea for those last two. I'm definitely hoping they'll be on the record! :] I'm so pumped for this. I'm really praying we'll get the tracklisting and album title in the next month or two. Woooot!
  15. For one thing the band was interviewed back in mid-'09 and revealed 25 songs that were being considered for the album. http://www.wikicoldplay.com/LP5#Possible_LP5_songs_-_found_on_the_South_Bank_Show_.28September_2009.29 One of them, as you see, was called "Alien Radio." And with all the UFO related Coldplay stuff like on their page http://coldplay.com/ How if you keep your mouse on the News section opens up to a paper that says "UFO" and same thing on Live Transmission, a UFO comes in and beams up the "Transmission" part of the word. Plus they've been hinting at a UFO theme here and there in other places as well. It just makes it seem likely that "Alien Radio" would then be chosen as one of the songs to be on the album. That's what I think anyway.
  16. Thank you sir!!! :) And I agree. It should be about how incredible Coldplay is rather than personal differences/disagreements. But did anyone notice on Coldplay.com how the "News" link is a newspaper cover that says "MX", then the inside opens up to says "UFO"? It's really cool. Like I wonder what the MX means though. :inquisitive:
  17. Thank you very much!! :D Although I'm not sure what game you we're talking about. (: lol I do appreciate it none-the-less. :o This would be truly amazing. An astronomy themed (or at least named) Coldplay album? Insanely awesomeeee!
  18. The 20+ times I've tried to decipher the words on that picture, every time it looks like it says "Mild Story." It starts with 'M' and has two words but I'm very speculative as to whether they would call an album that. I can't wait for the new music though! No matter how bad life gets, I always know I have Coldplay's magnificent and awe-inspiring music to look forward to. They're the one the band who NEVER disappoints me, only astounds me with every new direction they take. :D
  19. Good news from the studio. :] I think we might finally be closing in on the release of the new album here. Like many others, I'm eagerly awaiting the release date- but my favorite part of Coldplay releasing a new album is always finding out the tracklisting. :D Not sure why. I just always love seeing the titles and speculating what the songs might be about I guess! I really can't wait though.
  20. Oh. Okay. Thank you anyway. Yeah, I mean they seem like kind of cool titles most of them but I really doubt that's what they are. Ah well. :S
  21. Question: Umm. Someone said a person named locust submitted a tracklist for the new album. Does anyone have a link to where he said that? Thank you.
