  1. I think that part of the song is clever actually. It almost seems as if he's saying I'd rather continue what great things the past generation have accomplished into this newer generation, as opposed to letting everything fall to shreds and spiral out of control in a bad direction. Witty metaphor. [: +100 I think it could be a simple mistake though, the English language isn't the easiest when you think about it after all. [: It's not like Spanish for example where you have rules and you pretty much just follow them, English is plain whack; like birds, deer, oxen for ex., all different plurals, how do you explain that to someone?. :P And I can't even imagine if they were both pronounced coma. "Well, what is this? You missed having a coma there. Why didn't you have a coma?? You're getting points off for not having a coma!" :stunned:
  2. I completely agree and I'm glad you pointed this out. I've been thinking the same thing for some time now but I wasn't sure if it was just me or what. Hopefully they'll change it. It would sound a lot better; it's still a great song regardless though. [:
  3. Eight to nine, nine to ten We are meeting for the first time- we might never meet again You and me We are meeting for the first time can't you see? Seven, six, five, four, three We are meeting for the first time, singing this space symphony :D I really really really love this part of Moving to Mars so I'll have to choose this. Out of all of the new lyrics it's been the hardest to get out of my head and what I find myself singing the most out of the new stuff by a good margin. Plus, I couldn't stop humming it/singing it under my breath all graduation day and so it has a special intrinsic meaning/significance to me! [[[: I could give a whole explanation but of how I connected it but I'll save you the zzzz's. haha
  4. There's so many amazing lyrics it's hard to choose. Every single one has lyrics that just plain rock, even though ETIAW does drag in places. It's really incredible! :D So stokedddd for this album, finding out the tracklist and title, just everything. Loving life thanks to Coldplay!!! edit: that was probably a cop out. I'll try my hardest to pick a definite one. Though it is kinda hard because it seems the guys are still tweaking the lyrics, you can sort of tell between Rock am Ring and the latest few concerts some of the lyrics sound a bit different.
  5. Indeed indeed. Can't compare them to anything really.
  6. Clocks. :]]]] My favorite song from Coldplay and all-time. :D
  7. It did! Just like the others thank you so much!!! [: Definitely sounds like In my scarecrow dreams We'll run riot, not wild/wired for each chorus part (I was wrong. :P ) Yess!! Good timess.
  8. dp sorry. :| Internet's being stupid b/c we're having storms here.
  9. From this video shot by Snookerman, who talked about all the vids they shot in the HLH lyrics thread: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dha-oPjrepE&feature=view_all&list=PLFB2FC019F8EF5DC0&index=8]YouTube - ‪Coldplay - Us Against the World - Live @ "Where The Action Is" in Gothenburg, Sweden 28.06.2011 (HD)‬‏[/ame] I mean. Sorry guys. Actually I'm not sure whether you'll like this or not. By going to their video (this was originally posted in the HLH lyrics thing) I listened to their live recording of UATW which is just about flawless and... It's definitely "The Devil as he's talkin' to those angels eyes. Not with. Less sure here. But. It really, really sounds like "My drunk hen has a Daniel in a lion's den" as well. Would drunk hen work? Like could he somehow mean a woman when he says that? As if she harbors something bad deep down when she's drunk, as a metaphor. Only think I could think of but it sounds pretty deep. It also sounds surely as though he keeps repeating "just erodes us in the rain" and doesn't say roses at all.
  10. Sorry. This was meant in the UATW thread. :S
  11. May I keep a few things. Umm. The absolutely mind-blowing, incredible cherry red bass that Guy's been playing? The one with the paint on it and the U.F.O. in big letters and the other painted writing? :]] And. May I also have two of Jonny's new guitars? The orgasmic black one that looks beyond cool it's crazy and the wicked sweet light blue one that says Once Upon a Time? :D And. May I have this fantastic picture (which I wish I knew how to shrink so I could have it as my profile thing or at least sig.). http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/gallery/data/1846/20110609dev7.jpg And lastly. May I keep Ladder to the Sun? I don't know if anyone already asked for that but yeah. And idk if I can since it's unreleased but there is that one version from Belgium, the only one as far as I know, so I was just wondering. Thank youu.
  12. Thanks everyone!! :] Just spreading the Coldplay love around and reminiscing on the huge number of reasons why we love the band! I'd love it if they saw this. I think constructive criticism can go a long way in helping the band become the absolute best they can be (as Chris has said before) but appreciation is really nice once in awhile too! :) That's another great reason! They always seem to have a cohesive theme on each of the albums which I really love and not all bands do by any means. :) Most of the songs on each of the albums are wonderful but the flow and fit really well with each other. Musically, lyrically, and theme-wise too! And another! There's not many bands I like listening to live. But Coldplay is definitely one of them! They're really talented and it definitely show here. The music sounds absolutely fantastic, even up to par with studio quality sometimes I think or better (which is hard to do I imagine)! I can't get enough of Chris's sporadic/unique/quirky dance moves and stage antics as well! He's so fun to watch. :) And it's not just about him he brings Jonny and Guy up to the forefront and praises them (Will too) all the time. If Glastonbury is any indication, it seems like he says "thank you everyone" to the crowd after every one or two numbers which is awfully polite as well. I mean THEY'RE entertaining US and WE'RE the one's be thanked? Really? That's pretty bizarre (in a really good way of course!). :D I love them.
  13. I'm not going to include the new songs because it's hard to compare them with the old right now and we're not entirely sure what's on the album/what's not/what's a single/what's not. :P Any other single besides those- "The Scientist" :DD <33 LP songs not singles- "A Message" <3 b-sides/unreleased tracks- "Ladder to the Sun" This is their most underrated song ever!! No question. And I can never get enough of the piano, bass, lyrics and chorus! :D
  14. lol yes!! Especially the part at the end. I don't see why it's bad to have a lot of songs on an album. :| It's probably just because I never get enough of them and some people would disagree, or that the more there are the less the quality peeps think. Which is all good. A new album is what it is regardless if it's long or short I do suppose. I'd really love a long one though! :) I mean like, idk. If they had included Rainy Day, Prospect's March/Poppyfields, and Glass of Water, the last album just would've been even better! And it would've bumped it up from like 45 minutes to 60. Yeah. Good times.
  15. Fair enough. (: Just a thought. And you make a good point- many people are in-between the lines. More like "independents"/middle ground than anything. Consider my idea moot in such a case.
  16. Of course you have a right to feel as you do and there are definitely people who will empathize with this same feeling. But I look at it like this. I mean it almost makes me think it breaks down into two general categories of people. Nothing wrong with either side, just differences in opinion. Like politics. This might be weird/random/unrelated but follow me here. In politics there are conservatives. People who look at our country and say hey, there's nothing wrong with this. We are doing great! What's there to change? Changing could make things worse, we should stick with what's been going for us. Just like I'm sure there are people who heard Parachutes, A Rush of Blood to the Head, and even X&Y and thought "wow, music can't get any better than this." And then they heard VlVoDaAHF or the newer songs from the LP5 session and think "why did they have to change it? It was SO DAMN GOOD before. It was practically perfect. This pales in comparison to the greatness they had once achieved. Why couldn't they just go back and keep making that incredible sound where they left off instead of falling off quality-wise completely? There are also liberals. People who look at our country and say hey, it's going bad or it's going decent but we could definitely improve on some things and create a better country. There's a risk in even changing things that might have worked but they could end up functioning even greater. There are similarly people who hear the new music and say "wow, the older albums were great but this is new and fresh." They embrace the new production, new direction, and new vocals as something different and potentially greater than their earlier stages. It was good back then but they keep getting better and expanding their repertoire of musical skills. The different musical styles and twists is positively lovely, I love how they keep pressing and testing their limits to create the best possible. It's not whether one is right and one is wrong. No one is wrong. It's the viewpoint they look at it from and their own personal opinions/biases/feelings/preferences.
  17. I respect your opinion. But. New songs>most of X&Y (Save maybe Fix You, Speed of Sound, Talk, and a Message). In my view.
  18. It's my opinion that Coldplay makes the best music today, and all time for that matter. And of course they owe a large part of this to their earlier influences. :P But I stand by that. Moreover, I think there's so many things to love about them that aren't strictly about the music itself (not sure if there's a thread for this or not). 1. I mean, first off they share all the profits equally. I love that idea because whether or not Chris is in fact writing most of the lyrics for the songs, ALL of them are writing the melody and structuring the song together. All of them have to consent to the individual songs and the tracklist of each album as a whole. All of them contribute to the themes, ideas, artwork, and other things like that so I think it's only fair they share the profits equally. 2. They never sell out their music. Minus the one iTunes commercial, which was just for promoting purposes and is actually a music corp., they never sell the rights to their songs to companies to use for commercials. They never forfeit the true meaning of the songs by selling them for millions to corporate giants as they shouldn't. I can't stand it when bands do that. Even if it is nice to have a good tune to sing along to once in awhile. :P 3. The band has consisted of the same four members since they began. Chris kicked Will out early in the making (while being under the influence :P) but other than that they haven't had significant problems. They're all still on good terms. I hate to see it when bands have to replace members (or breakup all together), regardless of the reason, and don't talk anymore or don't play in the same band. Sure, it has to be done sometimes, but it's so nice that they've all been together the whole time and are very mature to have worked out whatever problems they've encountered over the years. I really love them for that. :] I imagine it gets difficult sometimes dealing with the same people all the time for 12 years but they're all incredible so that must be why it works out! 4. The no hard drugs policy is a great idea. These things have torn apart great bands, whether you're talking about Oasis, RHCP or Aerosmith (and the list is much longer than this). They're great in that they make these smart decisions not to do those things and risk the band, their ties, and their health in the process. They're all very intelligent men and clearly good decision makers with fantastic priorities. 5. They contribute their money to charities, as well as the Democratic nominees in the presidential elections (this is a political slant so surely not all will agree). Make Trade Fair comes to mind, a very good point and advocating a necessary change so that the larger industrial countries don't beat up on the smaller ones as much. It shows their dedication to a good cause and they show you don't have to be Bono to make a difference worldwide as musicians. 6. All of the guys are generally soft spoken, awesome British mean each with a unique and awesome personality. They're all very humble, humorous, charismatic, genuine, witty, earnest, quirky (in a really good way) and just all around incredible. What can you honestly say bad about their personalities? Nothing period as far as I'm concerned. I mean, they're certainly not perfect (no one is) but it often seems they are the darn closest thing to it! 7. You can tell they genuinely care about the fans. They gave away Violet Hill as a free download. They gave away LeftRightLeftRightLeft for free (to people attending one concert I believe?). And not even just that. Coldplay are always keeping in contact with the fans and letting us know what's going on. Whether it's every few days, every week, every few weeks, but no more than every month. Some bands go over a year, even up to two without talking at all really about new material and what's on the horizon. I love how they have R 42 always updating us now and then, the Coldplay twitter page, and the informal news pieces on the website regarding new developments in their music in general/new album/new singles/upcoming festivals/etc. They really do so much compared to a lot of other bands, even though I know it feels like forever for some of us even to go 5 or 6 days without any new info. ;) So there. I counted there's at LEAST 7 other ways, besides the mind-blowing music itself, why Coldplay are such an amazing band. It's not just the songs and albums like with a lot of bands, it's literally everything about them that's so fantastic and incredible!!! :D
  19. Wow. Actually I'm not really sure now that you think about it. I think I just attributed it to Eno because they didn't start using it until he started producing. I suppose it could be either and I actually I can't really say a whole lot. They didn't even follow the rule last time, regardless of who's it was. VlVoDaAHF was 45/46 minutes and 10 tracks with 3 other ones tacked on to the others, not 9 as they made the rule. :S :P
  20. I really like your research! It makes me think Xylophone or Xylobrite could definitely be part of the title. As weird as I think the title would sound in such a case. But regardless. Thank you for this. (:
  21. You make a good point man- although my research shows hardly any of their albums are over 50 minutes actually. Not to slight you just saying. (: And I mean I thought it was though? Wasn't that a RULE on the list of ten that the album couldn't be longer than 42 minutes. What right does he have to say that? I mean that's just how I feel. It's THEIR band and THEIR music, not HIS. I disagree, though I do respect your opinion. I think Viva was definitely better but not because it was shorter. Just because they were doing what they wanted to rather than what they thought the fans and the media wanted. They stepped more out of their boundaries and tried new things. On X&Y they almost reverted backwards I'd stretch to say. edit: Not to be a butt but I feel I have to point this out. X&Y was only 62 minutes not 75. Not that it really makes a difference except 1) I'm OCD about this band, even little things like that. 2. I'd feel like we were all cheated out of 3, 4+ minute songs if I didn't say anything. Sorry. :|
  22. Right. Well that's different though I didn't know that part about it being on the screen. True. And maybe. Oh are you? That's cool. [: Yeah I thought it sound bio-related I just didn't see how it related but now that you say it makes more sense. No worries man. :) Actually I have to step back a bit because he said it was hard to spell. That doesn't necessarily mean it's the "Xylobrytes" title but it makes it seem a little more likely. I really wonder what it is though. Dang.
