dude, thats awesome! good luck man, i'm sure that your band is way better than those punk posers. i bet all they play is punk-rubbish like good charlotte. Man, practicing three days/week is good. Here we only jam on saturdays for about 4 hours. If you wanna take the band thing seriously i think the first thing you should do is practice like crazy with your band mates and then go to a studio (cos they have all the good instruments and equipment there) and see if you guys can record something there. Here it isnt expensive to go to a studio. its like U$25/hour. and after you guys record like 3 or 4 songs, send it to a record label. I think recording your own demo is a great first step, but i dunno. If all you want is good equipment to jam with your pals, i think the first thing you guys should get are good amps. cos i remember the old days when i used to practice with my old band and i had this crappy bass amp and i couldnt hear what i was playing. it sucked. haha Ah, i'm sorry. my stupid internet server went off yesterday 10 minutes after i started posting, and i couldnt get online again. brazilian internet system is so crappy, i tell you. Man, good luck. I know how you feel, i didnt want to go to uni either, and i probably wouldnt go if i had a good band and they all wanted to take music seriously.

haha sorry man, i totally forget about the instrumental room forum sometimes. so yea, back to the topic: I think you're right, he probably uses some kind of distortion pedal.. or maybe its a different tune.. i got the 12.51 tab on mxtabs a few months ago and it sounds okay. the intro is like, E on the D string, then C on the A string. and the verse its like E on the D, then open A string, F on the D string, and B on the A string. and i'm pretty sure that these are the right notes cos i downloaded the 12.51 vid and checked what nikolai plays and its exactly that. so probably the reason why it sounds different is his distortion pedal. and yea, i think thats the only song where he uses it cos all the other bass lines sound okay when i play em, like automatic stop, whatever happened, etc.
