How old were you when you started to make friends?
I mean most people have friendships (even if they aren't very deep) from practically birth... didn't you play with other children and stuff like that? did you go to day-care or anything like that?

The 9th Mixtape Exchange
Hahaha, yeah. Good call, Violet. :P I am sorry!!! Quite sorry!!!!! Adamantly so, even. :dozey: :dozey: :dozey: I TRIED SO HARD :bigcry: .............. :dozey: "Both of You, Dance Like You Want To Win!" (I fucking love Japanese song titles <3). Composed by 鷺巣 詩郎 (Shiro Sagisu if you prefer to Westernize). Indeed it's from an anime, from my very very favoritest anime ever, Neon Geneses Evangelion (it's pure art and gorgeousness, you really truly must watch it. Fact. The soundtrack is gorgeous, the animation is gorgeous, and it's super deep and thought-provoking and just great. Bah! Shame on you. "Fire Flies and Empty Skies" by God Is an Astronaut, which is an absolutely amazing post-rock band that comes up with the best fucking instrumentals ever. But if it's not to your taste, I wouldn't recommend looking up more by them, because all their stuff is pretty much in this style. Hahaha! It is French, but it's Acadian French, which is almost a whole different animal from regular, standardized French. The song is "Enfant Spécial," the band is... well, here's a picture first. Be forewarned, imo only the guy on the right is cute. While the other two are far from my perfect guy, I'd say the cuteness of the one on the right is enough to tell you the band name: Radio Radio. They're pretty indie and shit, and Canadian, so I imagine Briggins is smiling proudly on me right now. (Actually, the pic's from his blog. Haha) Fuck yeah bro. Janelle Monae is amazing. Just, augh. Good to know you like her! The Ting Tings??? Da fuck are you smoking?? Hahaha. This file was protected or something... I tried for quite a while to get it to change and then just decided to get my mixtape in on something resembling time. I dunno if you already listen to Deerhunter or not, but listen to the rest of the Flourescent Grey EP (plus their whole discography sans their first album, which is terrible) -- it shan't dissapoint. Hahaha, this is almost cheating by reusing artists, because Atlas Sound is the solo project of Bradford Cox, the lead vocals/guitar for Deerhunter. It's off the album Logos, which is fucking brilliant. I heavily heavily heavily recommend the song "Walkabout" because it's fucking great and it also has Panda Bear guesting so how can you go wrong?? I almost put it on the tape but then I remembered I think I'd put it on another, so I was all like, "wups, better not do that." I'm sorry about the weird structure but Bradford Cox/Deerhunter are just SO EXPERIMENTAL AND INNOVATIVE, YO, nuthin' I can do about it. This song isn't just cute, it's fucking adorkable! I love it really lots. I always found it really uplifting. "Lovely Allen" by Holy Fuck. Gooood band. Eddie was obsessed with them for quite a while before he converted to Four Tet/MF Doom/Daft Punk/etc. Not a bad guess! But not correct, either. "You, Me, & The Bourgeoisie" by a duo called The Submarines. It's off the album Honeysuckle Weeks, which is a super cute and fun album. I'd recommend it if you're in the mood for a bunch of nice indie pop, but I bet it gets old quickly -- I've been trying not to overlisten it so that it doesn't. Too bad! This was sorta risky, but I just really love this song too much to not put it in. But yeah, kinda a weird decision to put in electro-J-pop, generally speaking. :P The band is 元気ロケッツ (Genki Rockets if you like to anglicize and/or know how the fuck to pronounce anything), and the song is called "Star Line," but it was remixed by some fucker or other called Stratos. (So if you wanna keep it and know how to categorize it, the official title is "Star Line (Stratos Mix)".)Saw it in a trailer for an upcoming video game called "Children of Eden" and fell in love with it. I think I get your not liking it though. Hah, I actually see where you're coming from! This song is fan-fucking-tastic, isn't it? I love the chorus and shit. I'm so glad you like it. :D "Let it Rain" by OK Go, off the album Oh No, which if you like this/any of the rest of their work I heavily recommend getting. Most of the songs on that album are more upbeat than this, but still, it's a good album. It is in English, but also in whistling! :D "Scythian Empires" by Andrew Bird (FANTASTIC) off the album Armchair Apocrypha (REALLY FUCKING FANTASTIC). Please do me a huge huge huge favor and get Armchair Apocrypha as well. I just googled who the backing vocalist is on this track just for you. Her name is Haley Bonar, and I've never heard of her but she's pretty great in my book! AWWWW YEAAAAAHH CUZ I MADE IT IN A NIGHT LIKE A MOTHERFUCKIN' CHAMP Damn right! I'm really glad you enjoyed it bar Star Line. It always makes me feel great when a mixtape goes down well. :wacky: I really hope you check out the albums I mentioned cuz they're all really great omgg~~~ Do you like how I made everything bold and blue so it was easy to see?? I try so hard for you people.

Do they care?
Oh fuck off.

Do they care?
What tweet would that be? And I dearly hope they do care... but like you said, caring shouldn't really affect the music. I just hope they know that most of their fans think the song's shit haha

The 9th Mixtape Exchange
Here's my review! :D Track 1 - Fun opening track. All guitary and shit. Didn't like it much at first but I'm a little more into it now. Good decision to make this the first one. Track 2 - White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane. Jefferson Airplane's cool, my dad has a vinyl of theirs from the 60's that I've listened to once or twice. I like this song <3 Track 3 - Doesn't do much for me. Just feels kinda like another boring guy-vocalist-guitar-rock song. It isn't bad or anything, it's just that the lyrics aren't special, the instrumentation isn't special... it's just blah for me. Track 4 - I really like this song! I'm not sure why cuz it's basically just beeping, haha, but I really dig it. Makes me wanna know who the artist is in case they're a prolific beepy-track composer that's all good and shit. Track 5 - SAD PANO  IN A MINOR KEY :( I think I like this song too. I know I like the background instrumentation, it's kind of hypnotic and I like it. Jury's still out on the vocalist but he isn't bad, I just can't decide how much I like his voice (it usually takes me forever to decide if I like guy singers' voices or not). Track 6 - Weird to have this upbeat track after the last one. But it's all cool. It has whistling at the beginning! :cheesy: Actually the whistling sounds weird, they must have done something to it, because at first I thought it was a theremin >.> (I really like theremins fyi). Kinda funky track. I like this one too I think. Track 7 - Can't decide what I think of this one. Kinda weird song. There's definitely a theremin at the end when it all breaks down though, which I heavily approve of. The talking at the end seems a little pretentious, though. Then at the very end they start singing again? And it just cuts off? Kinda weird. S'all good though. I like it overall, but it's weird (which isn't bad) Track 8 - Vocalist reminds me an awful lot of Guy Garvey, but I don't think it's him (the accent isn't right, plus the rest of the song isn't really like an Elbow song). Slow balladey type song. I'm not very partial to it but I've been warming up to it since I first heard it so I might end up liking it more later. Track 9 - The singer has a weird voice. :wtf: I don't think I like it. (Like I mentioned, I can be really persnicketty with vocalists.) Not a bad song but I don't like the vocals, so. If I get used to them I bet I'll like it, though. Track 10 - Lyrics in this song are wtf. "Under the eaves of that old lime tree/I stood examining the fruit/Some were ripe and some were rotten/I felt nauseous with the truth/There will never be a time more opportune." What??? Hahaha. Eh song. Track 11 - Creepy-sounding song. I like the "aaaahaahhahahhwoahh" stuff. (Haha, I'm unsure how else to put it.) Good track, I like this one, and the creepy vibe it has going with it. Track 12 - I like this one too. The instrumentation is interesting, there's some brassy instrument (I can never tell my brasses apart ) and violins and all sorts of interesting shit like that. Good song. Track 13 - I like this song also! It's pretty short but in a cute way. I like how it's all about seasons and stuff. It's super cute. <3 Pretty good mix. I wanna know who a lot of the artists are and who made it and stuff. This'll be exciting!

Weed/Pot/Ganja should it be legalized ?
I've never even tried it but I probably will if given the opportunity -- meaning, if people are passing weed around, I will try some, probably. I think it should be legalized.

play the guitar on google
it wasn't anything special; like all doodles I messed around with it for about 40 seconds and then stopped

This is a good example...
"No age is good to get married at. You got to be a fool to get married." "Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough." True wisdom

play the guitar on google
he probs means on a real guitar

mainstream meter (last.fm gamish thing?)
I'm too indie for Last.fm, I win by default. Actually, I'm not, but I only really use it for putting on classical or blues radio when I study, and/or I scrobble randomly, so it hardly reflects my actual music taste...

What do you do for a living
If you want to talk about stuff guys do but not talk about their job, you're probably doing it wrong. When I'm actually working I have little doubt that I'll be doing a job I'll enjoy too, and if you're doing a job you enjoy you'll want to talk about it, because it makes you excited because you're interested in it and so forth, and I should hope anyone you're dating would be at least mildly interested in it just because of that. So I really don't get your argument at all.

Weed/Pot/Ganja should it be legalized ?
People call pot ganja?
-
Tomboys ?
I think Lory speaks French AND Spanish AND English. Where's the haters now? That's what I thought, bitches. Reminds me of my Afghani-American friend. People make fun of him when he messes up speaking but English is his fifth language SOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Life is for living piano
oh... I have the sheets somewhere, but I dunno where. I think I got them by searching some pinned thread or other here. try that? as an aside, it's a fun song to play. Very repetitive. not that hard at all. but still very fun. plus it's in 6/8. fun by definition.

The 9th Mixtape Exchange
argh okay I meant to review my mixtape tonight, but apparently I'm going to a movie so I probably can't I'll just say to my no-doubt eagerly-waiting mixtape maker: I like the middle the best, and have mixed feelings about the rest. Some of it is quite good! Some of it isn't to my taste. Mixed bag. Nice tape overall. (I've listened once in broken-up sections, but I'd like to listen again before reviewing.)
