  1. Yeah, that's true. I've tried my damndest to like some bands and just failed, it's a pointless exercise really. ...But I do suggest you listen to them
  2. I'd forgotten how damn good No More Stories is. That is all
  3. Yeah, it was well deserved. Jim Parsons does a great job.
  4. Listen to In Rainbows before you do anything else in your life. It will change you. After that go in roughly chronological order I would say. DO NOT listen to Pablo Honey. We don't even like to talk about that record. The Bends isn't a good record in my opinion; but you say you like classic rock, so go for it I suppose... it's definitely their rockiest record. OK Computer is overrated but better than The Bends. After that you enter sacred territory, everything after OKC is amazing. Kid A is hard to get into but Amnesiac is harder, so listen to Kid A before you listen to Amnesiac. Hail To The Theif is a little different, more like OKC/The Bends than Kid A/Amnesiac are... if you like those two records, listen to HTTT before Kid A/Amnesiac, if not, just listen to the three in chronological order. That's what I'd suggest anyway. As far as my Radiohead fandom... Hm. I don't freak out about them as much as some people I know, but they are up there on my list of favorite bands evar, and I would probably get palpitations if I met Thom Yorke, though not curl up. So a 7 or 8?
  5. I don't think it will, I was saying this to Karen earlier, but I think Inception is a lot more "Oscar-flavored" than The Social Network. And yeah the awards are popularity contests, they have groups of people voting for stuff so by definitio, yeah, popularity is gonna be a factor. :P Oh my god. Why is he not in my bed right now. ...also, RDJ looked really fucking fine last night. <3
  6. GOLDEN GLOBE HNNG DESERVED SO WELL HNNNG
  7. Awesome indie poppy band from California, anyone else into them? Just discovered them today basically. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BatEID7VrUg&ob=av2em]YouTube - The Submarines - Submarine Symphonika [Official Music Video][/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSS8ub5x0G0&feature=related]YouTube - The Submarines - You Me & The Bourgeoisie[/ame] Apparently a new album is coming, which is awesome. I've only downloaded their 2nd album from a couple years ago, cuz it's the most recent, but I'll probably get their first as well pretty soon.
  8. I appreciate Lauren. Tru to the fax.
  9. I'd caution you that you should be sure of it, because a lot of people go into that field and get burned out fairly easily.
  10. Read this quote before and I think I got chills, Sagan is amazing.
  11. Panda Bear is in fact > Animal Collective it has been decided
  12. pfahahaha, Phil
  13. Random Quote Time!: "They would gather together to converse endlessly, to tell over and over for hours on end the same jokes, to complicate the limits of exasperation the story about the capon, which was an endless game in which the narrator asked if they wanted him to tell them the story about the capon, and when they answered yes, the narrator would say that he had not asked them to say yes, but whether they wanted him to tell them the story about the capon, and when they answered no, the narrator told them that he had not asked them to say no, but whether they wanted him to tell them the story about the capon, and when they remained silent the narrator told them that he had not asked them to reamin silent but whether they wanted him to tell them the story about the capon, and no one could leave because the narrator would say that he had not asked them to leave but whether they wanted him to tell them the story about the capon, and so on and so on in a vicious circle that lasted entire nights." edit: I dunno why I posted this, I just need a hardcore break from working
  14. Lol, "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall"
  15. I don't know. I think if I were committed enough to somebody that I would get married to them I would just be fucking ecstatic all the time, and not have time to care about the size of rare rock I wore on my finger before we got married. Who knows though, not like I'm an expert. Just I can't really see myself caring that much.
  16. Yeah but not that much. And I had to practice for like a full minute before I could do it at all with my left foot.
  17. I didn't even hear about her until at least a day into the coverage. I didn't know she was born on 9/11 either. Sooo sad. I almost cried.

  19. I got Cryptograms and Microcastle at roughly the same time, took a while but at first I adored a few songs and then during one listen of each they both just clicked massively and I went around blithering and only listening to Deerhunter for a while. I think a lot of people to through that with this band, I wonder why...
  20. Because they've heard good things about the recent album? I usually get the most recent if I'm interested and then go backwards in some fashion if I like them, although sometimes I start at the beginning of a band's discography. I don't usually care too much about seeing the band's evolution or whatever unless I really like them and am really interested in them.
  21. Yeah but Deerhunter's first album is vomit-inducingly bad almost. Hahaha. The weird ambient-punk thing they were going for on Turn it Up, Faggot is basically the biggest musical disappointment I've had in a while. :/
