Dus ik had al bedacht dat ik in een hotel wilde slapen dit jaar. Niet bepaald goedkoop, maar een tent trek ik ook slecht. Maar nu ga ik eerst Düsseldorf proberen. Vrijdag is de verkoop.

Ja ik heb inmiddels mijn hoop gevestigd op de Stones in Düsseldorf, vanmorgen aangekondigd. Marktplaats is inderdaad eng, ben al een keer eerder opgelicht en nu is het helemaal een chaos. Was graag naar Pinkpop gegaan, staan veel goeie bands, maar ik zit ook met m'n gezondheid en weet niet of ik zo'n weekend vol kan houden. Oké, wat leuk man. Die dingen moet je gewoon doen je leven, kun je op teren. Dan maar een tijdje op water en pindakaas leven.

Man, Marktplaats is een slagveld met die Pinkpopkaarten. Je wilt niet weten wat een prijzen mensen vragen. Wow Tash, dat moet heel vet zijn geweest! Ik vond Glasto wel een goed optreden en ze hebben veel sterkte nummers. Keith is een machtige kerel. Heb z'n boek gelezen, hilarisch. Als we 40 jaar geleden leefden was ik een Stonesmeisje geweest denk ik. Op tv kijken zou echt te zuur zijn... ^Gefeliciteerd!

This has to be a great video. Not because of a wet Mr. Martin (although it helps) but because I don't see them going so cheesy it resembles a James Bond scene. So there has to be more of a creative idea behind this. God I hope I'm right. Imagine Chris ordering a vodka martini by the pool... Not good.

I think he just writes the lyrics down as they come to him and doesn't change much because it's how the song is 'meant to be'. Sounds like a strong argument but unfortunately it doesn't always turn out that well.

I don't agree. Chris' vocals live sounded unstable. Singing along to a tape? Come on. The effect is great, they have to put that on his mic.

After hearing it live, I have to say it sounds kind of sparkling. Still not a fan though. Has anyone thought of how Magic fits on an album called 'Ghost Stories'? It sounds very un-ghostly to me. It's also not explicitly about memories like the two new songs.

I'm not sure about this one. On first listen, I liked Another's Arms better. I think it's a bit flat but maybe I should give it more time. I'm not going to listen again though. I want the album to sound fresh.

I think some underestimate how hard it is to go low-key for a band that on their previous album and tour relied on anything but simplicity. With that, they have to take the risk of sounding boring. I think that's what we're smelling here. I do agree it sounds a bit flat though (and my god those lyrics, can't get over them). I'm not going to hope for having heard the worst half of the album. If this is going to be the second album that disappoints me I might have to let them go. Especially when they don't change the way Chris sings Midnight. They have to recreate that effect live instead of playing a damn tape. Can't be that difficult.

My expectations are down, mainly because of the lyrics. If I look past that, right now I like Another's Arms better than Always In My Head and Magic. This song is about being cheated on? I don't think they've done that before, unless you count Yes (a far superior song) which is about temptation, or songs like Shiver which aren't as specific. 'Late night watching TV' doesn't bother me as much as 'And I don't and I don't and I don't and I don't'. Someone said the lyrics draw more attention to the music - the only legitimate reason I can think of, although I don't see how better lyrics would be a problem. The music has weird stuff going on without screaming to be sung in a stadium. I think that's great. Love the guitar and bass. Not sure about the woman's voice, but at least it's different. As for the performance, it sounded a bit ramshackle. Chris was switching octaves and seemed insecure. Can't blame him, he has to feel naked singing a song like this. (Maybe the rumours are true, Gwyneth?) For now, I'm curious to hear the studio version. Edit: just realised it doesn't have to be about cheating. I don't know why I assumed it was. Well, there goes my theory.

This won't be like Rock Am Ring right - loads of new songs and a setlist that stays roughly the same for the following tour? Because I don't want to spoil my upcoming concert somewhere this summer, maybe fall... OK winter. I'm not going to set my alarm but I'm often awake around 4am. Convenient. Edit: welterusten Tash:)

Does the cover remind anyone else of a heavy metal album? I like it though. I'm glad it doesn't look as glossy or childish as Mylo Xyloto. And I'm also glad they're releasing these songs relatively quietly (for a huge band with a Twitter account). I hope the album reflects that kind of subtlety. The two songs seem to.
