  1. Maybe 'bass-heavy' means we'll see the first ever bass solo from guy. That would be cool.
  2. Cleggy replied to tauiwi's topic in Paradise
They said it'll debut on the radio on the same day it's released. They'll probably play a live version beforehand to promote it though on Jools Holland or something.
  3. He said 13 songs, not 13 tracks. It might be like Viva as SprayCanSoul said up there.
  4. I don't think Coldplay were inspired by Mylo the street artist at all. He's not famous in the slightest, I don't know one person who has heard of him. Also, his website isn't something you'd stumble across by accident, you'd have to search for Mylo to even have a chance of finding it and let's be honest here, 'Mylo' isn't a commonly used word at all. Then there's the fact that Mylo himself doesn't know anything about this and Coldplay would have to ask permission to use his name in album title. This whole thing looks like a coincidence to me.
  5. When he says 'played live' he means played as a band at the Beehive with no audience other than possibly the producers. Phil also mentioned Princess of China in his tweet. It was taken out of the setlist for a different reason and will still probably make the album. If they though it was crap they would never have played it at the festivals at all.
  6. 13 songs eh? That's the same as Viva. Looks like we'll be getting a nice concise album that's not too long. I'm happy about that.
  7. @rafaelchampion I think we understand that you like Major Minus by now. No need to constantly keep saying how much you love it in every thread. It's verging on being annoying now.
  8. There's not many bands that keep going for 42 years continuously without breaking up for a long while first.
  9. I actually don't mind the first half of ETIAW. It's not that bad if you ignore the lyrics and I don't care too much that there's a bit of synth action going on. It just gets awful towards the end with the WA WA WA WA WATERFALL part which actually had me laughing the first time I heard it. The way Chris performs it live just emphasises how mainstream it is. He acts like a rapper on stage. I'd much prefer it if he just played a guitar or a synth or whatever like a proper musician. Their music has been no means ruined by Eno, but he's encouraged the band to experiment more which has resulted in adding far too many layers to their music that just aren't necessary. The fact that Major Minus is widely considered to be vastly superior live because it's more simplistic confirms this.
  10. I don't like long albums. I enjoy listening to albums all the way through in one listen and long albums make that almost impossible and tedious. Also, albums with too many songs makes it more likely for one or two songs to stand out as being poor in comparison to the others which destroys the structure of the album. I think 50 minutes or less is a perfect length. More songs definitely doesn't mean more enjoyment.
  11. ^Agreed, particularly 'Under 1 Roof'. That could easily be a lyric in the same way that 'Once upon a time' is a lyric from Princess of China.
  12. I'm afraid you're incorrect there. Eno was involved in X&Y. He played (no surprises here) a synthesiser in Low. And Coldplay would certainly be different without Eno, maybe not during Viva but in LP5 he's had a very strong impact on the recording. He's involved in the song-writing process this time which means he's contributed actual music to some of the tracks rather than just offering his ideas. Basically that means the songs would be different without him. Simple.
  13. I'm not against this thread, I just think it should be used to discuss which songs will make the cut and which won't and just generally what the tracklisting will be like. Making lists of song titles is annoying and a waste of time considering there's barely anybody here that takes the time to look through them anyway.
  14. Yes you're right actually, he was only involved in Low, my mistake. However, Low is probably Coldplay's worst song to date. I just think Coldplay have had an obsession with synths and sound effects since he came onboard. I hope LP5 proves me wrong, but I'd rather if Eno just stepped back a bit and let REAL producers like Markus Dravs and Rik Simpson work their magic with the band. And @RegulusBlack, I think X&Y was a decent album, it wasn't BAD, but there's too many forgettable songs on there that aren't up to standard with the band's other work. Fix You is fantastic and I really like 'Til Kingdom Come. Swallowed in the Sea has a great melody but dreadful lyrics. Although I think the b-sides from X&Y are probably the best from any other era, they're much better than the album itself.
  15. Not really a fan of Eno to be honest. As soon as he stuck his nose in, Coldplay went in a negative direction. A Rush of Blood was genius and then came Eno and X&Y was created, which is by far Coldplay's weakest album. it was over-produced and the songs weren't great. Viva was a lot better though. Now Eno is taking an even stronger role in the album process to the extent that he's actually credited as a writer now. I'm not happy about that at all. I'm sure it was his idea to add those ambient layers and effects to ETIAW and Major Minus that ruined the songs.
  16. In most performances Chris says 'thank you' after finishing Charlie Brown and then waiting 10 seconds or more before playing the next piano part. Doesn't really feel like an outro to Charlie Brown at all. I'm pretty sure it's just something they'll do live to transition into Life is for Living. The fact that they didn't play the piano part at Oxygen probably confirms that it's an intro to Life is for Living. They played Ride On instead of Life is for Living at that gig.
  17. What is the point of posts like these? And don't say 'it's fun'. You've taken a bunch of random song titles and put them together. What's the point? It's not just you though, it's others too.
  18. Major Minus, ETIAW, A Hopeful Transmission, Hurts like Heaven, Princess of China, Up With The Birds, Up In Flames and Us Against The World were not on the list during the 60 Minutes interview which shows that the band are still writing new songs. Most of those have probably been scrapped by now in favour of new songs. We're assuming that Space Symphony became Moving To Mars and Cartoon Heart became Charlie Brown. And on a side note, we don't know if REX, Voodoo and Under 1 Roof are actually songs. They're just words written on some of the instruments that could mean anything.
  19. I don't think Coldplay will ever release a greatest hits album, they've said before that they don't like the idea of making fans pay for material that they already own. And the Radiohead greatest hits album should be ignored. The band have condemned it and encouraged their fans not to buy it. It was released by their record company without their permission as a cheap way of making money. It doesn't contain any tracks from In Rainbows because that was released independently so the record company doesn't have access to the tracks. Anyway, I think Coldplay will keep going until they are about 50 and then call it quits. But don't expect anything better than what they've already done after they turn 40. Typically the quality of a band's material decreases once they get old. And it takes Coldplay quite a long time to make each album.
  20. And when people guess what the tracklisting will be in these threads it's always just a random selection of possible song titles in a random order. It's so pointless.
