  1. The Coldplay segment starts at 18:00 British time.
  2. I think it'll be something like this: 1) MX 2) Hurts Like Heaven 3) Princess of China 4) Up With The Birds 5) Charlie Brown 6) Us Against The World 7) DLIBYH 8) [song relating to UFOs, Alien Radio maybe] 9) Major Minus 10) Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall 11) [Hidden Track]
  3. LP5

One of the rules that the band set up during the recording of VLVODAAHF was 'no albums over 42 minutes long'. Something like that anyway. I'm not sure if it still applies. Plus, Chris said this: "The worst mistake we could make, when we're the most Marmite-y of bands, would be to make a super-long thing". So yeah, unlikely that there'll be a double album. I expect about 10 or 11 songs on it like on Viva. An EP is always a possibility though.
  4. In a past interview Chris said something like 'Up With The Birds is all Jonny, it only has 2 chords.' Major Minus certainly has more than 2 chords so it is likely that it has never been known as Up With The Birds at any point. I think some fans referred to Major Minus as Up With The Birds because they didn't have anything else to call it. There's isn't any references to 'Up With The Birds' in the lyrics either.
  5. And the media didn't mention When Loves Takes Over by Kelly Rowland being almost identical to another particular song...
  6. It's a pun on the common saying 'it hurts like hell.' I suppose that's why it's a upbeat, positive song.
  7. Dangerous Love is Beyond Yoghurt Hands Seriously though I expect it to be 'Don't Let it Break Your Heart'. Sounds like Jonny is having a massive influence on the album.
  8. Cleggy replied to kaisin's topic in Us Against The World
It might be roses. It would link to the White Rose movement which is one of the themes in the album according to past interviews. If so, the whole song is probably about the White Rose movement. The title is 'Us Against The World' after all.
  9. If MX is the intro then the 'X' part probably stands for Xylophone. I actually like the idea of the album starting with MX and then going into Hurts Like Heaven. It's a fast song so it would be great to kick things off. The fact that they opened the set with Hurts Like Heaven suggests that it will be the album opener. it's like how they used to open with Politik during the AROBTTH days.
  10. I voted maybe. From what I've heard from the live shows the new songs sound beyond amazing (Charlie Brown, Us Against The World, Hurts Like Heaven etc.). They certainly stand up well against Coldplay's older songs and I think the new stuff is some of the best they've ever written. But as soon as I think Coldplay know what they're doing I remember Every Teardrop is A Waterfall and how underwhelming it was. And for some reason I keep thinking that only 1 or 2 of the new songs played live will actually be on the album which would be disappointing considering how fantastic they are.

Is it just me or does the vocal melody and some of the lyrics sound similar to 'Pour Me'?
  12. I think it should be on the album whether people like the song or not. I for one don't particularly like it but some people do so for that reason it should stay on LP5. I just hope it's not an album closer though. It would be a really weak way to finish off the album when fantastic songs like Charlie Brown and Major Minus have come before it.
  13. I think it will be the title, but I'm still curious to find out where 'MX' fits into it all.
  14. This song might be called 'MX'. That's what it originally said on the live stream but by the end of the song it was changed to 'Hurts Like Heaven'. It would solve the mystery of having the MXs everywhere.
  15. Those streams are really unstable for me. It plays for like 2 seconds and then buffers for 10. I'll be really annoyed if I get absorbed into a new Coldplay song and then it cuts out.
  16. The opening post is the greatest thing I've ever read. It's the only good thing that has come out of ETIAW.
  17. That's EXACTLY what I thought to myself when I read it. Everybody with connections to Coldplay think it's a great song. It isn't. From what I've seen more than half of the fanbase dislike it. It's a sign that they should just disown the song and move on. That would be a real showing of guts.
  18. I love Will's harmonies on that song! Shame it cuts out when the bass kicks in though. It's got great potential. My only worry with these songs is that the studio versions will be worse than the live performances due to over-producing them and adding too many sound effects or reverb that isn't needed. It's also promising to see that all of the new songs performed are indeed mostly stripped-down. It also make me wonder whether ETIAW will be on the album, it's so different from the other songs perfomed. If it is on the album, it'll probably be the weakest track by quite a distance and a terrible way to close it.
  19. It's a great song, it gave me hope that LP5 will be fantastic. Cartoon Hearts is also a great tune. Does anybody have a link to Us Against The World?
  20. So far I've heard 2 new songs that were played at Rock im Park and they're both very upbeat, positive songs. But best of all they sound like classic Coldplay with guitars, pianos and no synths. One was 'Hurts Like Heaven' and I'm unsure what the other was called but the're both great songs. There's certainly hope for LP5 yet. It's not all overproduced electronics crap.
  21. The Pierces said that they scrapped the first attempt at LP5 and started again, but they recently started reworking some of the scrapped songs to fit the current album. This gives the impression that the original plan was to make a stripped down album recorded in a church but they've moved on from that idea. Bear in mind Chris talked about the acoustic idea 2 years ago. A lot could have changed since then. There were also reports a few months ago about Will wanting to do a rave/dance album, and if ETIAW is anything to go by then that's the sort of thing that they're going for.
  22. That would be 2 weak albums then, because X&Y wasn't great. I think the band are aware of this, which is why they're only going to play one song from it (Fix You) in the summer concerts (providing that they play the same setlist as in the family and friends concert).
  23. I've listened to it a few more times and I'm quite disappointed now that the excitement of a new song has worn off. Listen to ETIAW and then listen to any song from Parachutes or AROBTHH. They've definitely gone backwards in terms of quality and originality. They've played it safe with this. It's very radio friendly and it sounds like EMI and Brian Eno wrote it rather than Coldplay. It doesn't bode well for the new album.
  24. I give it an 8. Not the best, but not the worst. So much for the new album apparently being 'stripped down' though. I like the song, but I would be very disappointed if the new album went down the dance route. Like I said, I like the song overall but it just feels like they're trying to fit in with all the dance and R and B crap that's in the charts now.
