For sure. I'm loving the "fly like an eagle / fall like the rain" and the final line is just superb. The way Chris sings the last "hypnotised" in his falsetto as;lkhafsh Ugh, this song is so good I wasn't expecting this :sob:

I'm kinda bummed that we're getting SJLT on an EP that's already pretty short, but man if this song isn't gorgeous. AND IT'S SO LONG compared to the songs they've put out for the last, like, ten years! I'm intrigued by A L I E N S and Miracles 2. The first one reminds me of the conspiracy theory meme of the Ancient Aliens guy [emoji23] If the rest of the EP comes close to Hypnotised, I think we'll be in good shape!

In my opinion, there have been more EP/b-sides that have songs that fulfill the "why wasn't this on the album" argument than not. Even going back to ARoBttH when the guys could have easily released a fantastic Part 2 comprised of nothing but the b-sides (Animals, Murder, I Ran Away, etc.). With these newer albums, I feel like the only reason certain songs aren't included are because they don't fit the theme the album is trying for (notable especially with Moving to Mars, which, in my opinion, blows all the songs on MX out of the water). Themes are fine for albums, but sometimes I feel like the guys write themselves into a corner and wind up accepting sub-par songs onto the tracklisting simply because it's a better fit than another ultimately better song with a different theme/atmosphere/etc. Hopefully we get a continuation of the trend with Kaleidoscope. I'd like to see some less bright-and-happy songs again for a change.

Since the guys are in Israel right now, I wonder if they'll be making the announcement soon after they get back? I remember Will telling a fan that they were putting the finishing touches on it back a week or two ago. Since they're all abroad now I guess that means they've finished it?

Yeah, I don't even necessarily mean "dark" as in "depressing," like say The Scientist or something. Just a song that's a little rougher instrument-wise would be perfect, a la Major Minus, Violet Hill, 1.36, etc. A dark atmosphere, if you will.

Hey, it's good that someone likes all of them! I wish I was like that--would make my life easier LOL I'm one of the ones who loves the first four and is sort of lukewarm towards everything from MX on, with MX being the only one I can actually say I dislike. It has the best lyrics of these last three and still carries some of that "Oldplay" vibe, but it just seems kind of flat and boring to me. Maybe it's the mixing? Maybe because it had to follow up my favorite album of all time? I'll skip over songs on GS and AHFoD but with MX it's usually a thing of listening to two or three and that's it, idk. ----- Anyway, not to turn this back into an Oldplay debate . . . whatever we get with Kaleidoscope, I hope the guys bring back a dark song or two. AHFoD was the first album I feel like we didn't get a single one from :(

I like it! The chorus is a little jarring and the lyrics could use some work in a few places, but Chris's voice is gorgeous and Jonny's guitar is great as always. Reminds me of a more EDM-like Miracles. Hopefully the EP doesn't go in this direction, but as a standalone (one that's officially by the Chainsmokers with Coldplay as a feature) I think it's just fine

It seems weird to me that they would promote a new song at an awards show--especially one off an EP, no less--but it would be cool if they did!

^ Maybe we'll get a longer version like Life in Technicolor ii? I'd honestly be down for that. I love the piano/atmosphere in Kaleidoscope

I suppose PoC could be considered a sad song lyrically, but as far as the soundscape goes it's kinda the opposite *shrug* And to be honest, I'd forgotten that UIF existed until now because I haven't listened to it for literal years lol Anyway, I agree with you. It's just that (excluding GS), the "new" Coldplay consistently releases more happy poppy songs than somber, serious ones.

^ They've literally not released a single "depressing" song since, like, the Viva era :joy: Unless you count maybe Always in My Head or something

:worried: I haven't watched any Grammy-related things, so this is the first I'm hearing of this. OneRepublic has a few okay songs, but the possibility of that mixed with Stargate for a Coldplay release just makes me nervous. Hopefully this is either 1) not related to the EP, or 2) defies my expectations if it is.

Same thing happened with ETiaW the summer before MX dropped. That was an ugly debate

I've always gotten a Middle Eastern-type vibe from the strings in Yes. Something like that I guess is close to what I had in mind Plus we were supposed to get some Indian influences on AHFoD, so why not go for another country :joy:
