  1. I'm taking it as a good sign that a lot of my favorite Coldplay songs are around 3:24 in length (Violet Hill, Major Minus, Cemeteries of London, Prospekt's March) :awesome:
  2. I kinda like the lyrics, actually :awesome: They're nothing close to Viva or ARoBttH quality, but I think they fit the tone of the song pretty well without being too cheesy or cliche
  3. I will forever cherish this day :wacky:
  4. Guys AHFoD and Up&Up have been swapping places getting stuck in my head for 18 hours now send help
  5. Well, there's a couple of lines that stood out for me in this "metaphor," and they all have to do with the creation or repairing of something. "Fixing up a car..." "Down upon a canvas, working for a meal" "See your bird form, a diamond in the rough" "Angels in the marble..." etc. To me, the lyrical progression of the song sounds like an artist of some sort struggling to make their art known or make their way in the world. They're struggling, but they're hopeful (the "up & up" part). They go through all these processes and nothing seems to be working. Then inspiration strikes (beginning with "How can people suffer...") and everything starts rolling. It's a direct lead-in to the chorus and everything just keeps building as this "inspiration" continue to grow and change their lives and their work. You can see the influence of everything they have ever done coming through in the big choir singalong as everything continues to get bigger and better for them. Finally, at the end of all this, the return to the original stanza symbolizes that this artist never forgot where they came from, and that original influence will continue to play a big part in their life, wherever it may lead. Kinda symbolic of Coldplay's journey :awesome: Disclaimer: I've listened to this song a grand total of 1 time so you all can think I'm totally nuts if you want to
  6. ^ The Viva chant was the band's highlight of their "whooa" streak. Everything since then has just never been able to reach that pinnacle

^ Only if you include CSC :D
  8. Soo . . . Up&Up is one giant metaphor for the band's career/the creative process? That's kinda cool
  9. Just from the one time I've listened to it, I think "Down upon a canvas working on a mill" should be "Down upon a canvas, working for a meal" . . . At least, I hope that's what it is because wow what a great line :wacky:
  10. If this turns out to be a Viva song reincarnated I am going to explode. That's kind of the vibe I'm getting from the title. Not that it was an actual Viva song, but just in terms of sound or lyrics
  11. Okay I caved and listened to the new songs once each. Now I'm good to wait until the album :D AHFoD - I thought people were exaggerating when they said it was basically a U2 cover. Turns out they weren't  Love it. I think it will work great as an album opener. Very HLH and DLIBYH Up&Up - Jonny and Noel are gods okay I have nothing else to say about this just asd;lfhs;;l

^ It would have been so cool if the guys could have somehow gotten a group of fans together and had them contribute to the choir part also. Something like how they had that coordinated meetup for the Christmas Lights video shoot. Not sure how feasible it would have been, but that would be quite the memory to build!

    ^Shh don't ruin this for me :P

^ @I Ran Away pointed that out in another thread, I think. I'm 100% convinced it was on purpose. The next question is . . . how well does it segue into Don't Panic? :charming:
  15. ^ That's one of the things holding me back as well. If I get really weak, I'll allow myself to listen to AHFoD but I'm going to try and avoid Up&Up at all costs
  16. ^ I would pay an absurd amount of money for an album of upbeat songs like LiJ or SS

Holy freaking cow I HAVEN'T EVEN LISTENED TO THE STUPID THING YET BUT I JUST TEARED UP y u do dis coldplay
  18. ^ I don't think they played it? No one is talking about it, anyway
  19. ^ I figured that's what you meant, but for some reason that was the first thing that popped into my head
  20. I'm picturing people trying to do the Viva chant during Paradise and that's one hilarious image  *aggressively stuffs cotton in ears and tries to ignore multimedia forum* We can do it! We can do it! EDIT: I accidentally typed "We can't do it!" and I didn't even catch it. That's a bad sign, isn't it lol
  21. Geez, all these positive comments about AHFoD and U&U are really making me want to listen to them. A U2 vibe!?!? A 7-minute closer?!?!?!? :o . . . People saying this album will be their best since Viva?! I don't know if I'm going to be able to hold out these last two weeks, guys
  22. I'm going to avoid listening 'cause I don't want to spoil anything else for myself, but I'm going to stick around anyway for all of y'all's reactions :P
