  1. Coldplaying just shared it on Facebook :nice: Being able to interview Coldplay would honestly make my life. Dear Coldplay's PR Director, Hit me up. Thanks. Sincerely, ColdplayingfromKansas
  2. ^ Agreed. I should have clarified that although interviewers are expected to ask certain questions, they should really also make an attempt to ask something that's relatively original. Just as an example, I would probably ask them things like: -Is there an overarching theme for the album (and if so, what is it)? -How do you decide on the themes for each album? Do they mostly come out of whatever it is you're going to for inspiration, or do they just start to come out as each new song is written? -Does AHFoD follow the trend of your recent albums in that there is a deliberate storyline that progresses from beginning to end over the course of the album? -How does AHFoD progress or change the "pop-rock" sound that we heard on MX? What elements have stayed the same and what new influences have you brought in? -What is your favorite song on the album? -How long did it take to record AHFoD? Did you continue to work on it during the Ghost Stories era, or was it something you picked back up after finishing up with GS? idk  EDIT: The alternate cover is the bomb, yo
  3. Honestly, I wouldn't even be mad ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  4. (I work as a newspaper reporter so this is just my take on it as someone who has to interview a buttload of people on a daily basis) I mean, it's considered good journalism practice to ask certain questions because it's going to get you the info that A) is the most important and B) that people are interested in. So for instance a question like "what was the process of creating this album" or "how do you feel your efforts have turned out" might get repeated a bunch of times just because radio stations will have different viewer bases and everyone wants to confirm that "basic" information. Granted, I haven't actually watched any of the interviews from this era yet, so I really have no idea if the questions the hosts are asking actually fit into that category or not :awesome:

^ Shhh, don't derail the hype train!
  6. ^ Wooo I like that artwork Also that snippet definitely should have been an actual Coldplay song :(
  7. Agreed about Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. My second-favorite band touring with my favorite band? Yes please. My second choice behind NGHFB would be a little indie band called Racing Glaciers. They're from England and they've been active for a few years but the only work they've done so far are singles and EPs. Their sound is very reminiscent of older Coldplay--closest I would come to describing them is Parachutes-era mixed with a bit of Viva and X&Y. They have some really great songs: [video=youtube;r8M-eZWTtug]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8M-eZWTtug [video=youtube;fZqZxq4wx30] [video=youtube;z6NgZqt504A] RG is probably way too small of an act to support Coldplay, but a girl can dream :D Honorable mentions: Two Door Cinema Club X-Ambassadors Civil Twilight
  8. ^ I mean, I understand why they did it. From what I remember, the MX era was really similar to this era because there was a long stretch between the release of Christmas Lights and that first summer festival/ETiaW release where we were all chaffing at the bit for any new material or news. With Coldplay's slew of summer festivals, we were all convinced that they just had to play new material--which of course they did. Had they played the summer festivals with just their Viva setlist, a lot of people would have gotten incredibly impatient and probably started wondering if we were even going to get an album by the end of the year (myself included). A lot of us caved and listened to the songs at some point because the first time they were played I'm not even sure if we had a solid release date yet. Plus, MX was obviously created with a big, boisterous live show in mind, so I think it was a wise move to road-test the "bigger" songs beforehand to be sure they were going to achieve the desired effect. Granted, we were all a bit disillusioned with the studio versions after that, but that tends to happen when you've gotten used to listening to the live version for the past four months :P So, in short, it was probably a good move on the guys' part even if most of the forum spoiled ourselves with them ahead of time. That's why I'm glad we've got less than a month to go for AHFoD--I think a lot more of us will be able to avoid spoiling ourselves this time around because we have an end date in sight (and a close one at that).
  9. ^ Having already listened to Amazing Day and AoaL, I'm going to try and avoid listening to whatever new tracks are played on Friday. I remember caving in and listening to half of the MX album ahead of time, and I really regretted it when the album came out--especially since most of the songs that I hadn't already heard at that point were just transition instrumentals. Even though I wound up not liking GS much at all, that full-first-listen experience was much better simply because 7/9 songs were new to me rather than 7/14 for MX (really, 5/14 not counting instrumentals).

There aren't even going to be any lyrics. It's just going to be 10 minutes of Jonny and Noel trading off while the rest of the band builds up into something like the ending to DaAHF or Glass of Water
  11. Oh. My. God. My entire existence is now devoted to making this happen
  12. ColdplayingfromKansas replied to getithom's topic in Up&Up
    ^ Please let this happen

^ I was just thinking that earlier  Normally I have no problem listening to the whole album through on the first run-through, but every new thing I hear about this song just makes it harder to wait
  14. Guys this album will be the end of me I mean, I'm not crazy-in-love with Amazing Day or AoaL, but all this news about Eno and the 2 (!) solos on Up&Up and all the influences is just making this Oldplayer so excited :wacky:
  15. Yes. A lot of people are saying that AHFoD will be a mixture of Viva and MX, and I think that's a spot-on interpretation. Similarly, I feel like it's going to fall smack in between the two albums in terms of quality--although a girl can always dream that someday we'll get an album as good as Viva :wacky: It'll have the poppy happiness of MX and the experimental art-rock of Viva. It's fitting that we'll be getting both pop artist Beyonce and rock artist Noel Gallagher as collaborators. Hopefully that's a hint that this album will have a nice mixture of styles (personally, that's where I believe MX fell flat--it was too much pop and too little rock). Even just looking at the two songs we've gotten so far, it looks like the guys will be incorporating a ton of different influences and styles--pop-rock, Indian, 80's funk, electronic. I feel AHFoD will be anything but boring.

A Jonny solo. A Noel solo. In the same song. I will not survive this.
  17. Coldplay's lyrics about snow/winter are always so good, I could see this as a possibility! I'm predicting Everglow and Up&Up will be my favorites on AHFoD
  18. :o Blasphemy! TheScientistissomuchbetterthanGreenEyes.jpg :P

This song is going to be freaking great. Beyonce and Noel joining them on it? Yes please :wacky:
  20. Oh man I never knew how much I wanted a Johnny Cash-inspired Coldplay album until now
  21. ^ Man, that song is so good. It's proof to me that Chris can still write amazing lyrics. Personally, I have very high hopes for the Noel Gallagher collaboration, but at the moment Wish I Was Here is definitely my favorite collaboration from the guys. Chris's Faultline collaborations from back in 2002 are pretty good also
  22. ^Did the guys ever say why they decided to stop releasing b-sides? Was it just kind of an unspoken thing to phase out since the rest of the music world moved away from them also? Honestly, a non-miniscule percentage of my favorite Coldplay songs are b-sides. In some cases I would even consider some of them to be better than songs on their respective albums. Like, half the songs on ARoBttH could have been replaced with b-sides from that era and the album would be just as phenomenal. Same with Viva--most of the Prospekt's March songs are just absolutely amazing (if those can be considered b-sides).
