  1. ^ I like confident Chris :P I will say again though that it seems we're all jumping the gun a little for AHFoD. Although I will be the first to admit that I don't like the Top 40-style pop that is all too common today, that isn't the only type of pop that Coldplay could delve into (I believe someone pointed out that they could go in a '80s pop direction inspired by Hunting High and Low). I am one of the ones trying to keep my expectations turned down, though, so I may just be hunting for an excuse to get more excited. Plus, if nothing else, Coldplay is always evolving. Just because this album may turn out to be very poppy, that doesn't mean possible future albums will be!
  2. I listened to X&Y for the first time again today after a long while. Really, I don't know why I disliked it so much for awhile there. Low has some lyrics that, dare I say, are on par with some of the ARoBttH lyrics. Totally underrated song. Speed of Sound, Talk, and Swallowed in the Sea are excellent also :wacky: Maybe I'm just being nostalgic, but today's listen bumped it up a spot on my list of Coldplay albums :P
  3. Oh man, tough call; depends on the day, so for today I'd say 1. Miracles 2. Christmas Lights 3. Atlas
  4. I'd never heard Avicii's version before. I think I actually like it more than Coldplay's version :surprised:
  5. I agree! Unfortunately, unlike the bands you mentioned (except perhaps U2, they seem to draw a lot of fire as well), there seems to be a lot of people who have already made up their minds that anything Coldplay does is going to suck. Now, people are entitled to their opinions, but just from what I've seen it seems that the reasons people list for disliking Coldplay are somewhat contradictory. For instance, most of the criticisms seem to stem from the notion that Coldplay is "boring" or simply catering to the masses with a very formulaic and inoffensive sound. Yet other people are complaining that they've experimented "too much" and have ventured too far from their roots as to become a "boring" sugary pop band. Which is it? Has Coldplay just switched from one type of boring to another? I'm kind of rambling here (there's bacon cooking about five feet from me and it's very distracting) but it seems to me that it will be almost impossible for Coldplay to release an album as well-loved as some of the above rockers, simply because of the aforementioned dichotomy.
  6. Same! When Magic first came out, I didn't like it (still don't really like it, to be honest) but I bought it anyway because it was Coldplay  The same thing kind of happened when GS dropped; I listened to it on repeat for the first couple of weeks and thought it was the greatest thing ever (although that might have partially been because I'd broken up with my boyfriend and a breakup album was just what I needed). A year later, there's a couple of songs I like and that I listen to semi-regularly, but the album as a whole has lost some of its appeal.
  7. OMG Mark! EDIT: Wow it's been awhile since I posted here
  8. Same. Literally nothing has been confirmed at this point
  9. Coldplay songs are not meant for feet shuffling :bigcry: Although getithom is right; we're jumping the gun a little!
  10. A Rush of Blood to the Head vs. Freaky Teeth (Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds)
  11. ^ Same. After not caring for any 2nd Law songs ('cept for Supremacy), I was hoping we'd get a couple of good ones from Drones, but so far that doesn't look like it's going to happen :disappointed: This. I want this. Coldplay's dark songs are the best :bigcry:
  12. Oh man, if they go the direction of Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, that would be so great :wideeyed:
  13. Kansas, USA A Rush of Blood to the Head
  14. A Rush of Blood to the Head Strawberry Swing Swallowed in the Sea Yes
  15. ^ Right? I was expecting something lighthearted and fun, but dang. If AHFoD is even remotely like this, then I'll be happy
  16. Okay dang that was actually really, really good. I went from crying with laughter at the GoT musical skit to actually crying. When the whole band came in with "sky" and "fly," just wow. My AHFoD song wishlist is filling up with Games of Thrones songs and songs about wishing a DJ goodbye :blank:
  17. "It's the first romantic ballad about incest in Coldplay's career" Also, I physically need a full version of The Red Wedding
  18. Aahh! I know none of those songs have anything to do with the album, but my LP7 excitement just got ratcheted up a few notches :wideeyed:
  19. I had things to do today, dangit! Instead I'm just going to sit here and watch all of these videos lol
  20. This is the coolest thing. I hope AHFoD's artwork resembles this style :wacky: EDIT: Nevermind, I got ninja'd by Sparky
  21. :o I didn't know I wanted this until now . . . Then again, as long as I get a couple of songs with deep, complex lyrics I'll be happy.
  22. *Crashes through wall* I really hope this means we might be getting a Viva-esque track or two :wideeyed:
  23. Kansas City! Then I could check seeing Coldplay live off my bucket list :awesome:
