Zun Zun Egui - I Want You to Know 23. Hayden - Hearts Just Beat 24. Torres - Strange Hellos 25. Lord Huron - Meet Me in the Woods Honorable mentions go out to the few EPs that would otherwise be on my year-end list by Flint Eastwood, Flor, Valley Hush, and Gosh Pith. Majical Cloudz also completely blindsided me, I expected greatness but didn't exactly expect it to top my list. It's been a great year.
  2. I didn't expect to hear anything else this year that would be substantial enough to hit my year-end list, let alone top it. Needless to say, this is the best thing I've heard all year and I just cannot stop freaking out about it. Tasteful lyrics, pristine production, Jax Anderson's otherworldly voice, smooth rhythm... everything is perfect. [video=youtube;ecSftfmre9k] I still need to listen to Jamie Woon and Majical Cloudz's new albums, but I don't think they're bowl me over quite like this one.
  3. Nigel & The Dropout - Folderal A favorite local band of mine from the Metro Detroit area. Found out about them earlier this year when I saw them open for July Talk. They put on a spectacular show.
  4. [video=youtube;3dAWPsrraBk] This is without a doubt my favorite song of the year. I've always been a fan of Dan Mangan, but he really pushed the envelope with his most recent album. I went on a roadtrip to see him perform with his band in London, Ontario, and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. He's such a charismatic man and he probably played about four extra songs of strictly fan requests. But Vessel makes me feel completely elated whenever I hear it.
  5. It's been ages since I've posted on here. I was listening to X&Y on loop the other day and suddenly remembered that I had an account on here. I posted mostly during the Mylo Xyloto rollout, and when I think about it, I was probably more pumped for that album release than any other album I've ever waited for. It was just a really fun time with the graffiti theme, the live videos that were popping up, the tracklist speculation... Good times.
  6. I will say what I will about the quality of this album, but the artwork isn't at all disappointing. :) I do wonder if they'll include any extra tracks with this single's release.
  7. I still think that it's unbelievable how well Paradise is doing, I still prefer to think that Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall is the feature single instead. I prefer a cheesy lyrics and a sampled melody to blatant mediocrity, it's just that cheese that brought me to this band in the first place. :) Although if I DID have my druthers, Charlie Brown would be the successful one but that obviously won't be the case...
  8. This. But Take Care has some of the best production I've heard on any rap album. I love Drake.
  9. I don't mean to come off as an ass, but in every single possible scenario, A Rush Of Blood To The Head is better than Mylo Xyloto.
  10. Marvin's Room is still my favorite. :awesome:
  11. Do Make Say Think Feist Broken Social Scene Stars James Blake
  12. Hip-hop is great when it's done well, fuck the ignorant haters that throw out all hip-hop/rap based on a few trash radio songs. And fuck weezy, too.
  13. I'm ungrateful and sick of it already.
  14. Take Care is pretty good, but not as good as I'd hoped. The songs with Chilly Gonzo on them are obviously godly. :dazzled: Didn't The Sea And Cake put out an album this year? They're always worth listening to IMO.
  15. Texico Bitches - Broken Social Scene Hit The Wall - Brendan Canning Ruled By Secrecy - Muse Feminine Eye - Bibio Killer Cars - Radiohead Truckers Atlas - Modest Mouse Polycoulrophon - Bibio Butterfly Knife - EMA Not In Love - Crystal Castles Look Up - Stars
  16. I would fly to see them in Chicago if they planned a show there. Detroit is never getting a show so Chicago for sure.
  17. Picked up the deluxe edition of Hail To The Thief today. Four down, two to go (Pablo Honey, Kid A). Still need to get In Rainbows (have the bonus disc now) and another hard copy of The King Of Limbs because the one I have will be disintegrated in the next few years. :p
  18. I couldn't disagree with you more, Rainplay. Can't stand Mother Mother. :( Maybe it's my disposition as a Pixies fan, they just seem like an over-saccharine watered down version, but I suppose if you like supah sweet then they're a great thing. TV On The Radio's new album is still feeling fresh to me though, love that one. Nine Types Of Light seems like such a step up from Dear Science, I just love it so much. :dazzled: The Submarines' latest is still pretty great too. Highly recommended.
  19. So touching. :bigcry:
  20. I tried listening to Florence And The Machine once. The end result was a little too much laughter.
  21. I think it's a nice little breather from the mindless worship. I don't think I've listened to MX for about a couple weeks now.
  22. They're... finished. It's over. :bicry: :bigcry: :bigcry:
