Have they lost their minds?
I agree with mark55 wholeheartedly. The problem with creating art for a living is that people get attached to it. Well, we got attached and fell in love. And now, our love has fallen for someone/something else. And it's a dirty skank named pop music (Eno, that piece of dirty butt floss!!). I'm gonna go listen to Warning Sign and appreciate good songwriting.

ETIAW vs. Paradise
Telling poll... I believe this poll alone is rather telling of where Coldplay is in the music scheme right now. We all want Coldplay to be amazing because that's what we are used to and expect in all the best ways. But they have truly taken a step back when it comes to the census that is Coldplaying.com. When ETIAW was release I recall a pretty 'iffy' reaction from the fans here at best. Some loved it! A lot couldn't stand it and many were in between. So now the lead "single" off of the album hits the radio waves and there is still a doubt as to which is a better song...ETIAW or Paradise? (the poll reads at about 50:50 currently) SERIOUSLY!? With such a unappetizing feeling from ETIAW most wanted something epic out of this single but it seems to have flopped. Maybe the expectations were too high? Or for just a brand of music completely different? I'm leaning toward the latter. A lot of people will really love Paradise, but I'm afraid more of them aren't even fans of Coldplay, yet. As far as the track itself, I'm on the fence, but "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For." And I'm growing weary of whether I will find it all from this band from here on out. I still am about excited as one can be about MX in late October, but it's a different excitement now...a cautious excitement.

Will Mylo Xyloto leak? ** EFFECTIVE 16-10 LINKS NOT PERMITTED ** (PART I)
I used to use BeeMp3. Then I let one slip and it crashed my computer! Goodbye thousands upon thousands of songs. Fortunately, the computer was free (for all of the finance majors at school). download if you dare.

The Many Mystery Messages Of Mylo Xyloto
No other explanation... The two lines divide the album cover into three separate segments. It MUST represent the Holy Trinity! Or quite possibly a geometric representation of the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly! It could also represent the 'questions three' that the Bridge Keeper of the Bridge of Death asks anyone who wishes to pass in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. "What is your name?" "What is your quest?" "What is the deal with the ridiculous amount of speculation around every minute Coldplay detail?" Edit: I do apologize. I am being facetious.

Will Mylo Xyloto leak? ** EFFECTIVE 16-10 LINKS NOT PERMITTED ** (PART I)
It will. With all the security measures available to bands/record companies, it is very easy for a digital release to be kept under lock before the official release. Such is the case with the EP and numerous other bands out there currently releasing digital albums before hard copies. With that said, MX will leak. It WILL leak once it is out of the band's hands and into the 'system' of producing hard copies. I've heard various dates being tossed around about when exactly it has to "handed in" to the powers that be. With such a a highly anticipated album, someone along the way will get their grubby hands on it and have that desire to be the first to hand it to their friends. Then we will have it. Choose to or not to download it. But if you are anything like me, I'm buying that sucker anyway. I'm not sure what it is, but I am never fully satisfied until I have the album artwork and CD booklet in my hands with the officially pressed disc in my CD changer.

Paradise! The next single expected to come Sept. 12!!!

Guess the Paradise - Tracklist (B Side )
B-sides 1. Paradise 2. Paradise (Radio Edit) 3. Gangsta's Paradise ft. Coolio I have MY sources! ;)

The Tracklisting
Agreed. To be truthful, I love the melody of Wedding Bells and Spanish Rain is a good track as well but neither one even breaks my top 20 Coldplay songs to date. Very mediocre songs and I expect much better on the album!

Guess the Paradise - Tracklist (B Side )
Under 1 roof I'd love to know if Under 1 Roof is actually a song or a reference to the overall picture of the album. It keeps popping up everywhere (including the Coldplay.com homepage) so I'm intrigued (and impatient). I'm hopeful for the b-side(s) off of paradise and of course the lead single itself!

Following EP?
Yep. I totally dig the idea. I am doubtful that they would do a Prospekts March again as one of their bonafide rules is to keep things a mystery. Another album follow-up EP would be predictable. Another thought...just because they said only 13 or so tracks would be finished, it doesn't mean they will finish only 13. These artists are all liars, especially Coldplay! I personally predict a more traditional approach when it comes to the additional tracks. B-sides or stand-alone singles.

Article: How Coldplay chose 'Paradise' over 'Charlie Brown' as the next single from Mylo Xyloto
FYI, Chris didn't say that. Dave Holmes did.

TIMELINE ICON SOLVED!!!
we all miss one every now and then! ...oh, there's another one!!!! Dang you Coldplay!

Up In Flames (written by Joe Satriani) :)
What!?!? I totally get the anamosity towards Satriani and the ill will directed at him but really people!? Satriani is regarded as one of the elite guitarists in the world and while he doesn't have the following that a band as successful as Coldplay has, he certainly holds his own in the market he targets. I mean Victor Wooten isn't the most common name in the world and doesn't have the Coldplay, Rolling Stones, or Led Zeppelin name to go with his own but he also is regarded as one of the best if not the best bass player in the world! I hope that Coldplay named 'Up In Flames' to get under Satriani's skin but that doesn't mean he is terrible. He is currently in a rather successful rock band, Chickenfoot, which I'm not particularly fond of but A LOT of people are. Their first record is Gold certified. Let's slow this hate-train down a bit. The guy is F'ing great at guitar and successful in his own right. I choose Coldplay over Satriani anyday, and most do as well. But he is still pretty damn good. His career certainly isn't "Up In Flames"...

TIMELINE ICON SOLVED!!!
My Clock Under this theory... my clock predicted the title of '42' yeeeeeeaaaarrrrrsssss before it was released! In fact, now that I think about it, my clock has predicted thousand upon thousand of new Coldplay songs and their release dates!! OMG!!! There's another one....and another one....and another one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Am I the only one who disagrees with the MX promotion?
Not So Fast Based on the plethora of questions thrown around at the band regarding tracklistings and whatnot and will the festival songs make the album, I get the feeling that even if they don't make the album we will still get studio recordings of the lot of them. Coldplay, as always, have been extra secretive about the going-ons of the album but in their interviews they suggest that these tracks are all important, even down the the ones that won't make the cut. I have this suspicion that we will get more than jsut an album release within the next year or so. Maybe another EP or two? Or maybe it's just wishful thinking.

MYL OXYL OTO - My take on Coldplay's clever and perhaps subversive new album title
yep It would be unlike them for it to be as simple as this, though. We will see soon enough though! The peppers have an album coming out in a couple weeks to hold me over anyway!
-
MYL OXYL OTO - My take on Coldplay's clever and perhaps subversive new album title
a guess.... Just my two cents... could it be something as simple as: Mylo - scottish electronica artist/producer, suggesting the influence/use of electronic beats/tunes Xylo - suggesting the acoustic side of things (also present on the album) -to - also? (I realize it is missing the second 'o' to mean "also") ultimately meaning Electronic and Acoustic Too... Most likely a fool's search on google came of this but it makes since as well...the guys did in fact say that there was a massive clusterf*ck of acoustic songs and non-acoustic forces pulling at each other on this album.

Hurts like Bruce Springsteen?
 Secondly, as a HUGE Coldplay fan....Chris' melody in an undisclosed portion of Hurts Like Heaven sounds OBVIOUSLY reminiscent of Springsteen in Dancing In The Dark. If you cannot hear the similarity, well, I'm not saying you have no ear for this kind of thing, but, you have no ear for this kind of thing!! In closing, as I'm sure I will get hammered as others have on this thread, just enjoy the damn music. No one on this site is losing any money, royalties, or hopefully sleep over this. Rest assured that Hurts Like Heaven will be played for years to come for us all to enjoy regardless of our feelings towards its likenesses (or not) to another song.
