every crush is like a white water rapid
Hopefully, cradled in her lover's arms, beneath a willow tree at sunset, the delicate breeze toying with the inertia of the nearby lake's surface, Kat's interest reciting exquisite love poetry from the mind of Christopher Martin... ...No, I don't know where she is.

Doctor Who ???......
The Eleventh Doctor used a vortex manipulator in The Big Bang. Though what I'm really confused about is that in Father's Day, a paradox brings the reapers, who feed off the wounds in time and space, and these days, paradoxes don't do the same thing. I think writers need to explain why things are happening more than "Does it matter?", or actually watch the old episodes.

Doctor Who ???......
But then I also think that last week's episode happened earlier in the Doctor's timeline.

Answer the question above you
To spread my music with as many people as possible, to meet my granddad and to have an infinite number of wishes. If you could be anyone for a day who would it be?

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
It's not the same riff, it's similar, and it starts with a keyboard intro, rather like New Born, instead of starting head first with the guitar riff. Unnatural Selection simply sounds inspired by New Born to me, and when I saw them at Wembley, they played US and not NB. And I guess people won't be making albums for much longer, will they? :\

1. It's Muse, lol. We'll agree to disagree, but a solo like that, for me, certainly gives it a pompousness not found in many love songs. 2. My mistake. Not be in the same key then, but same seven chords, similar riff, similar chug, keyboard intro, all check. Can't just be me, surely? 3. No, I do listen to separate songs. But albums are intended as that, especially these days. Though in the olden days they weren't. They were intended as continuous works, but songs are not named 'Dark Side of the Moon pt10: Eclipse', for example. So it's a funny thing to decipher, but I guess the fact they've labelled them as a symphony - whether that's correct or not - is indicative of the band's intention for it. I get that people may listen to them as separate, but they're three songs grouped so closely on the record, they're all a continuation of the last... it's a bit like if a tv series has a two-part special. Sure it's two episodes, but it's one story. You won't refer to it as "the two about" it'll be "the one about". Do you see where I'm getting with this? I do see your point, just you know. Symphony or no symphony, it's too short.

Hey, don't be silly, you don't need to apologise. Water under the bridge, it's cool, don't worry. 1. Guiding Light might not be a rip-off of Invincible, but it sounds pretty bloody similar to me; bombastic, synthy, stadium-rock, 80s-tinged ballad with ott solo to boot. The thought behind was probably "let's put an Invincible on this record." I can't stand that way of thinking. It's even in the same key. 2. To steal four of the same chords, I could understand that. But in Unnatural Selection, they mimic seven consecutive chords from New Born. Em, Am, D, G, C, A, B. Again, they don't even change key to hide it. Or maybe not put it in a racing, guitar-heavy stomp that starts off with a slower keyboard intro? No. They've even given it a similar riff. 3. Although I'm aware it's not a proper symphony, I've never listened to the Exogenesis parts separately myself, and I can't speak for those who do. All I know is that the piece was intended as a threesome, so that's how I listen to it. And though I realise the sheer effort and consideration that went into Exogenesis... Eight tracks and a faux-symphony just doesn't seem enough. :\ I do sometimes take things too seriously, sorry you were on the brunt of my bluntness before. I love ya really. xx

The 2nd Law VS Mylo Xyloto
The CD in my mum's car VS Mylo Xyloto MX/Hurts Like Heaven Vs MX Hurts Like Heaven Both songs are the same, but I'm going to give it to MX because theirs is more original. I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor (Live from the Opening Ceremony) Vs Paradise Got to be Dancefloor, because Paradise repeats the "para" and that makes a song bad. Do Me A Favour Vs Charlie Brown Another Arctic Monkeys song, and we like that one better, so it's a better song, cause opinion and that. Princess of China (Acoustic) Vs Us Against the World Noisy synths are bad. Proper songs are done on guitars. Kudos to Chris for realising this before it was too late. Half the World Away Vs Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall Synths aren't proper instruments. Death and All His Friends Vs UFO Of course, this is a totally fair contest, because both tracks are similar. Why? Because they're both Track 9. One Day Like This (Live from the Closing Ceremony) Vs Princess of China One Day Like This we hear on tele a lot, and popular songs are always good. Although, MX has three more tracks, which make it a better album. Wow, that was close. But so far, I think the CD in my mum's car has come closest to dethroning Mylo Xyloto as the greatest album ever recorded. Bring it on, Beatles!

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
It treads a lot of the same water the band have tread before, for example, Guiding Light is a rip off of their own song, Invincible and Unnatural Selection takes the chord sequence of New Born. The songs that are exploring new ground, such as Unidisclosed Desires, Eurasia and Resistance just aren't exciting, well-written songs, like Stockholm Syndrome, Hysteria or Citizen Erased. On top of this, there are eight songs, and a symphony. The symphony requires your full attention, and it's not really designed for repeated plays. So that's eight tracks that you can stick on your iPod and listen to over and over, alongside the likes of Plug In Baby or Supermassive Black Hole. Only these tracks you'll tire of quicker, because you know, they've done them before. (Just my opinion. I loved it when it came out, I find it dull and insipid now.)

Do you think you're maybe overthinking this?

Not having been in relationships doesn't make you dumb, neither does being a kid. It's observation, not old age, that brings wisdom.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
If we all go out and buy this heap of shit, pay to see it in concert, and pack a field when they headline our festivals, they'll think it's good, and do it again, and we can't have that.

If nothing else, it gives you a sterling excuse. Last time I told a girl I fancied her, her reply was "We're friends, so I'll put it down to us being drunk." I don't drink. But it was nice that she made the excuse for me. It's because she was thoughtful like that, that's why I liked her, ironically :D

every crush is like a white water rapid
You know what, I've waited a long time for someone to say this. :smug: It's the most annoying thing in the world when a girl does the "hard to get" thing, because a lot of girls do it to keep you on your toes. It's like someone offering you a lift home, and you keeping them standing in the rain, going "Ooh shall I, sharn't I?" Of course it's different if you don't actually mean to act disinterested. But there's a difference between that and hard to get. You're obviously shy, and he'll see that and find it cute, don't worry about that. :) But at no point, and I mean no point, test him on how interested he is in you; for example, don't stand him up, ignore his calls, flirt with other guys, tell him you might not be interested in him, and that he's "got to be lucky". We're simple creatures and we need diagrams for a lot of things girls say. We interpret these signs as "being messed around." :\ If you're as nice around him in real life as you are on here, you'll be fine.

The 2nd Law VS Mylo Xyloto
I really like Hurts Like Heaven. I like Paradise. Controversial, but still. Princess of China's an alright song, and I actually like Survival. I know right? I just think it's nice, I don't listen to the lyrics, really. But then, I think that Lana Del Rey's attractive. So's Eva Longoria. Somewhere I have Cheryl Cole's debut album. I don't like the Strokes. My dad doesn't like Arctic Monkeys. He hates Alex's voice. And my mum hates Muse. Her favourite Radiohead album is The King of Limbs. She's a cat person. These are facts about people's opinions, but they don't need a thread of their own.

You clearly don't understand. The question is, what makes your opinion so important to warrant a separate thread?

I like some of the remixes more than some of the songs too. Caribou's Little By Little and Brokenchord's Give Up The Ghost in particular.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
That's cool, and I respect your opinion. I was merely asking if you were "one of those", as I mentioned in the other post. Sorry if this offended you, but you're an intelligent person, so I wondered whether you hated Every Teardrop on the basis of one line.

Me neither, wanted to balance the thoughtful lyrics with something that didn't make any sense.
