Favourite lyric on Mylo Xyloto ?!
Has to be: "Through chaos as it swirls, It's us against the world..."

How many singles will be released and what will they be??
I'm sorry, but if Charlie Brown isn't the next single, I'll beat myself silly. The song has already had commercial influence thanks to Sky using it as a backing track for sporting events and adverts. Plus, it was arguably the biggest hit at the summer festivals, so there really isn't any question. The only other song I'd see beating Charlie Brown into being the next single would be Princess of China, and that's thanks to Rihanna. Charlie Brown and Princess of China will be the next 2 singles. After that, I think Coldplay will be done with this era :)

HAVE IT!!! (AKA the 'I just got my Mylo Xyloto' thread!)
Got my copy from HMV this morning, with the artcards as well :)

Which album cover are you using in your iTunes? [POLL NOW INCLUDED]
I'm using the Graffiti cover for my iTunes rip of the CD (the leaked version is currently keeping the seat warm). For the actual CD cover, I'm using the silver one :D

Biggest Disappointment and Surprise of Mylo Xyloto
Disappointment: Hurts Like Heaven. It's still a good song, but the live versions are what made me love this song. Felt a little disappointed, but it isn't bad nonetheless. Surprises: Princess of China, Don't Let It Break Your Heart and Us Against The World. PoC - They made Rihanna work into the song really well. I couldn't believe it when I first heard it. DLIBYH - Cheesy title. Not-so-good reviews. Me = :anxious:. Then I heard the song. Me = :shocked2:. Where did that song come from? Brilliant stuff. UATW - Didn't like the live version that much. Was a little boring, to say the least. But after hearing the studio version, I quite like it now. Definitely fits in after the energetic Charlie Brown :)

Will Mylo Xyloto leak? ** EFFECTIVE 16-10 LINKS NOT PERMITTED ** (PART II)
I checked this morning... Nothing. Went to college (still here now actually), had 2 Maths lessons, check the forum at lunch... it has exploded. Downloaded album during my Computing class, and am listening to it right now :)

Will Mylo Xyloto leak? ** EFFECTIVE 16-10 LINKS NOT PERMITTED ** (PART II)
Someone PM me a link please :) EDIT: Never mind, found it. And I love it. MX/Hurts Like Heaven, Charlie Brown, Us Against the World, Princess of China, A Hopeful Transmission and Don't Let It Break Your Heart are my faves :dazzled: And I love the transition between M.M.I.X. and Every Teardrop is a Waterfall as well!

The PROS & CONS of "Princess of China" (plus 1-10 sliding poll)
Pros: The Bass line. Frigging incredible. They made Rihanna work into the song really well. Umm... can't stop listening to it :D Cons: Chris doesn't have a promeniant part in this song. More Rihanna than Coldplay, to be honest. Ah well, 7 days left, and I can officially say that I am stoked :)

The Song (No LINKS ALLOWED) 16-10
Umm... When I first heard that Rihanna would be providing vocals for this song, I said it could work if done right. Coldplay... you did your job. I love it :dazzled:

Another "Leak" of DLIBYH
From what I've heard about this song being a sister track to ETIAW, this is the most legitimate track I have heard... Although it does sound like something you may play at a rave or something... :surprised:

Charlie Brown On Sky One Advert [CLIP IN FIRST POST]
The song playing was Paradise, not Charlie Brown ;) Rather interesting to see more Coldplay songs being used in sporting events, though.

Rank Coldplay's New MX Songs.
1. Charlie Brown 2. Hurts Like Heaven 3. Moving to Mars 4. Paradise 5. Every Teardrop is a Waterfall 6. Major Minus 7. Us Against the World I do love them all though (except UATW. I'm a little iffy on it).

Rate "Up in Flames"
I like this song more than Us Against the World, but I have to agree that it does get rather boring towards the end. There's also not much lyrical significance either, but I've grown accustomed to that after Paradise. I do love the tune though (I love all the tunes on the album so far). From all the songs that have been heard so far, MX doesn't seem to be about the lyrics, but more about the actual music playing. I think Chris may want people to realise that Jonny, Guy, and Will are as significant, if not more, than him to the band. I'd give Up in Flames a 8.

Paradise is the most haunting song from the MX era so far
Blankshore, you are winner :) Congratulations. Your post described Paradise to a tee, and while I was also disappointed with the omission of MTM, I felt Paradise was a worthy replacement, and one that fits the album (I could not see how MTM would work on the album). Besides, second singles from albums have tended to be some of Coldplay's strongest. For Parachutes, it was Yellow (No. 5 in UK Top 40). For AROBTTH, it was The Scientist (No. 10 in UK Top 40, but many consider it to be the greatest Coldplay single of all time). For X&Y, it was Speed of Sound (No. 2 in UK Top 40). For Viva, it was Viva la Vida (No. 1 in UK Top 40). Can't wait to see where Paradise ends up :D

Does anyone who disliked this song from the beginning feel it has grown on them since first listen?
Those chants at the end of the "Para-para-paradise" bits... oh, they stick to your brain too well. I keep chanting them now while I'm in college. I've liked the song since the start, but as the days went by, and the plays kept increasing, I've just liked it even more :D

SERIOUS OPINIONS
I have been a Coldplay fan for a long time (The Scientist is still my favourite song ever). So when I saw the negativity surrounding Paradise earlier today, I got rather nervous, thinking it may, for once, be a disappointing single. But, then again, this is what everyone said about ETIAW, and guess what? I loved ETIAW. And, again, guess what? I love Paradise. It's a very catchy song, and the "oohh oohh's" remind me a lot of Viva la Vida and Princess of China (which I will try to love, even with Rihanna). However, like ETIAW, the lyrics aren't that strong. They are, however, not unbearable. I still listen to ETIAW now, and I'm sure I'll still be listening to Paradise when Christmas rolls along :)

Paradise is amazing
I actually love Paradise. After seeing some of the comments on here, as well as the whole Rihanna on PoC malarkey, I kinda lost a little faith. When I got back home to listen to the song for myself, I instantly loved it :D One minor niggle though is that the transition from Hurts Like Heaven to Paradise on the album sounds a little rough at the moment. On the plus side, the end of Paradise fits in nicely with the opening of Charlie Brown :)

Female vocal? ** UPDATED - It's Rihanna **
I must say, I've listened to Rihanna more times than most (not under my will, of course), but I can say this: If done right, it can work. This news may be disappointing, but I'm not giving up hope on this song just yet ;)

Official Tracklist!!!
14 songs? That's a shock. But Hurts Like Heaven and Princess of China are on there, which makes me really happy :D
-
LP1,2,3 OR LP4,5
Viva = AROBTTH > X&Y > Parachutes From what I've heard of MX, it's 3rd on my list (Better than X&Y and Parachutes). But it can increase (or decrease) in my rankings once the album releases. As for Eno, I think he succeeded in taking Coldplay into a new direction, which I think was what the band needed.

Tracks that may make the album based on the concept (Really long, sorry, i get really into things li
A rather interesting read. Definitely some good theories in there. I do have a theory which may link Princess of China to the theme of the album. Judging by the lyrics to it, I think this "King" (the one who wrote the song) may possibly be the leader of this "Major Minus" network (perhaps the head of a government?). His daughter, the "Princess", is disgusted by his actions and motives, but plays along with what her father was doing ("Once upon a time, we're on the same side") until she was older, when she decides to run away and join the underground movement ("You let me go..."). After the "King" finds out what she does, he talks about how she could have had a wonderful and prosperous life if she didn't abandon his side ("You could have been a princess..."). I know it sounds rather far-fetched and silly, and it may just be me wanting the song on the album so bad, but that's my take on it :D

LP5 Announced - Friday August 12th: MYLO XYLOTO (Join the Party!!!)

LP5 Announced - Friday August 12th: MYLO XYLOTO (Join the Party!!!)
New single called "Paradise" is coming out on September 12 as well. No tracklisting, but I'm still a very happy bunny :D
