  1. No it means that you'll be embarrassed to have picked lyrics for a senior quote. When you're leafing through your yearbook, you don't want to say something along the lines of "wow I can't believe I picked that as my senior quote." Oh well, at least it will make for some small talk at 20-yr reunions.
  2. I'm not bothered by it either - I actually think it has the potential to turn out quite well. Guess we'll see when we get the album.
  3. My point was that you preach the message that everyone has different musical taste and it's ok to like different stuff (which I completely agree with)..... and then you go around and say stuff like Animal Collective is "shit" and resort to frankly uncreative and hackneyed stereotypes about "hipsters." That's what I mean by consistency. But of course, I must be a "hipsta" since I listen to different things. Excuse me - I need to go out shopping for some "ill fitted clothing."
  4. I do have to note the irony that you guys adopt a holier-than-thou attitude whenever someone dares to say anything remotely negative about Coldplay, saying stuff like "everyone has different musical taste," but drop it when discussing other musical groups. A little consistency would be nice.
  5. I actually would recommend The Bends or In Rainbows before OK Computer.
  6. When you are in a hole, stop digging. That's not how EPs work.
  7. Don't see it (although Spanish Rain is a direct ripoff of Bruce Springsteen's Dancing in the Dark)
  8. And posts like this make you lose any sort of credibility.... unless you seriously want to argue that Encore, Relapse or Recovery compare with his earlier stuff.
  9. How did you find my picture??? :ninja: Edit: On second thought, that can't be me. I wouldn't be caught dead with Budweiser. Pabst Blue Ribbon!
  10. While Merriweather Post Pavilion is incredibly overrated, Strawberry Jam is very good. Not to mention Panda Bear's solo material.
  11. I don't know about BNM but it definitely should have scored in the low 8s, something like an 8.2 or 8.3. I've listened to the album since it leaked a couple of weeks ago and although I appreciate what Feist was trying to do, it's not a tremendous album. And speaking of Biophilia... While I personally think it ranks pretty highly among Bjork's tremendous discography, I think it will end up getting a lot of mixed reviews.
  12. Bbetter off not picking lyrics from an active band like Coldplay. Let's say their music age really badly - you're going to regret picking Coldplay lyrics as your senior quote.
  13. It's okay to hate Radiohead but do you have a reason?
  14. "It’s a moment of solace after songs full of sorrow, turmoil and loneliness that add up to Feist’s best and deepest album." - NY Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/18/arts/music/feists-solitary-road-to-new-album-metals.html?pagewanted=all) P4K gave it a 7.7 (http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/15878-feist-metals/)
  15. I'd argue Cheerleader, Champagne Year and Year of the Tiger belong in the conversation.
  16. This is the last I will say on this matter because I really don't want the thread to derail into a debate about Occupy Wall Street:
  17. I think it was actually mentioned several times already (I know I have). One of the contenders for AOTY
  18. What have you listened to? I can imagine people finding something like Kid A or Amnesiac weird.... but The Bends and In Rainbows are pretty straightforward.
  19. Because this is a Radiohead thread, I'm going to limit my response here: Staying on topic: Taped appearance on Jimmy Fallon this coming Monday. Thom + Jonny will play Give Up the Ghost.
  20. Just curious - who are these reviewers? I only saw one from ACL and I think the reviewer admitted to being a "huge Coldplay fan" in the beginning of the review.
  21. Well, we've already heard the song that comes before (Hurts Like Heaven) and after (Charlie Brown). Unless there's drastic improvements on the studio versions, Paradise isn't a good interlude. To be fair, the standards are high - after all, you and I both compared it to the seamless sequencing of Kid A....
  22. Seeing some good names so I'll throw out a couple: DJ Shadow - Endtroducing..... Orbital - Orbital 2 Oval - 94 Diskont Tangerine Dream - Phaedra The Orb - The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld
  23. Ironic that this comes from the person who gave an album a 6 out of 5 without even listening to it yet
