At least now we know, 3 months still left of this journey to planet system called "Music of the Spheres". Such a long wait still ahead of us... I would like to go to hypersleep mode until we arrive there. Just like they do in movies, Interstellar etc ?

About the release being in several parts. I was thinking about it even before the release of Higher Power. Had an idea that it will be series of EP-s forming the whole album, but right now I can't see how they would do that. Trailer is about the whole album and I can't see how they would group the songs for EP-s, but I guess we are about to find out in few hours.

Quilty of listening the leaked trailer. Sounds quite eclectic, I have to say. Difficult to judge everything, because some clips are so short and not revealing much. Based on that, I wouldn't say it's Everyday Life's pop sister. It's more like a weird, outrageous and experimental step-brother. ? Last song sounds very sweet and soothing. I guess this is the one Chris played in some interview few months ago (to the moon and back)

Idk guys, after 2 months of Higher Power we should be ready for the Higher Power Collectors Bundle. Includes all the seen and even unseen Higher Power performances + Lower Power as B side (aka depressed version of Higher Power)

Sorry for the long post. Using some posts as reference to begin with. For the start, I guess you read something too literally. I listened one snippet just once and there was some classic synth pop spacy drumfill. That kind drum sound has never before occurred in Coldplay's music and for me it's something, which is classic for M83, but also is just general classic synth pop drum sound. These are just small elements, which can have different reference points for different people. Of course there is no way to compare Coldplay with M83, they are very different acts. Not much point of bringing in prog rock bands like Anathema and Porcupine Tree (which, although inactive now, is one of my favourite bands btw). They have been massively talented and all the musicians are just on another level, but they never achieved the mainstream status, although they really flirted with the idea of it at some point. The concept of Pink Floydish bands is kind of outdated in mainstream for now, sadly. Coldplay truly is a mainstream pop/rock act compared to these bands and they acknowledge it. There is generally not that much depth in their music, but they have their x-factor and you can count them as the last worldwide successful band for now. It doesn't seem like any of the bands these days are achieving that big stadium band status and bands hardly get into any charts now. Also I guess over the 20 years music industry has changed a lot and to still be successful band really takes a lot of work. For Coldplay, I feel like musically very much changed after Mylo Xyloto. Since Ghost Stories and Chris going through some difficulties, their songwriting has become very different. We can't tell for sure, if this is conscious decision or that's just what's really coming through for Chris these days. At least from interviews it seems like they create what comes to them naturally and that's what matters to me at least. In this case it's more of a matter of taste and it's impossible to please everyone at each step. All I can see, they really enjoy giving these massive stadium concerts, while trying to continue being relevant in music industry, but at the same time remember their roots and also enjoy making some low-key alternative albums, like Everyday Life. Although it's controversial, I would like to say they have succeeded with all of it until now, but it gets more and more difficult to be successful on all of these fronts. I guess there isn't much point of comparing bands and artists, because all of them are unique and trying to progress in this world, having some more difficult times and some more successful times. Overall we can say that Coldplay has been certainly the most successful band worldwide in 21st century. Being together for so long, staying relevant, collaborating with so many different artists, developing their sound, while still maintaining the Coldplay feel to it and achieving the stadium band status leaves no room for saying their decisions have been wrong, because they seemingly achieved, what they dreamed of. Charts and reviews are just noise compared to all of this. That kind of success understandably sets the bar very high for each step in future, but the amount of opinions and criticism these days shows, that Coldplay still continues to matter and this is also a sign of success.

So much hype with these leaks, decided to give in and listen one snippet, just couldn't resist. Not good quality, but that synth-poppy drum fill and some synths gave me a bit even M83 vibes. Waiting to hear it in full and good quality, to see what this collaboration becomes. It will be a popular song definitely, but music critic side of me is a bit sceptical still. Not worried about the production, just about songwriting and the whole concept of this collab.

So, can anyone describe the song based on the leaked snippets? Maybe put it in spoiler. Are these even good quality snippets? I happened to hear the first snippet some time ago and the quality was too terrible to judge anything. Sorry, I don't want to waste my time with crappy sounding snippets, which can give totally wrong impression.?

This acoustic performance on Jimmy Fallon had definitely nice vibes, but probably at this point fans are getting already a bit tired of the promotion of Higher Power. Waiting for something new!? About this performance. Really nice to see so many people on stage with them playing and singing. I didn't have time to look too much into it for now, I hope these guys were actually playing for real and it was performed mostly live. These Chris' nice little harmonies on the last chorus are unfortunately coming from tape and some parts of choir too probably, but overall at first watch this performance felt definitely very human and real compared to the ones with tons of fireworks.

Great post! That guitar pedal is definitely interesting! Giving some very interesting opportunities to mix up the sound a bit. Also I have felt like they are definitely still recording, maybe changing up a few things after being able to rehearse and play in live setting. Also rehearsing and playing new songs live could help to decide on tracklist and inspire writing more new songs of course. Considering there still seems to be some time until the release of the whole project, I guess it's quite sensible to still work on it. About the album being poppy. It probably will be, but I guess the production will still have quite a lot alternative and experimental side too and I see this being way way better than AHFOD productionwise. After hearing Higher Power I'm not worried at all about production or the instrumentals from Jonny, Guy, Will and Max Martin. Higher Power has shown such a strong production/mixing, it delivers a bit differently with studio and live versions, but both are amazing. Also Human Heart has proven there will be definitely some variety as always on Coldplay albums. What I'm a bit worried about is that amazing production can sometimes overshadow the mediocre songwriting. Hopefully it will be balanced and songwriting/quality of production will be on the same level. In terms of songwriting, Higher Power for me is kind of walking on edge - it is quite cleverly structured, very catchy and so full of energy, but nowhere close to getting masterpiece hit song status. I was waiting a bit more to be honest, when considering the amount of promotion. It seemed like it wanted to become a massive hit, but maybe it was just the most perfect song to come back with and they didn't really care. Right now it feels like it's a great show opener like A Head Full of Dreams and Hurts Like Heaven, but not achieving massive hit status (I could be wrong and they could have something else as opener for tour). Also with Higher Power being out now for month already and comparing it to everything else and Coldplay's past releases, I'm more and more starting to feel it is actually way more "alternative" in the current music scene than I thought at first. Dynamics and production are just too rich and too different to most of the current (mainly solo artists') music and funnily enough - feels a like a rock band still at the time, where there hardly is even any bands in charts. Or maybe I'm just overthinking and it's just a flop pop song. ?

Higher Power Official Music Video - Out Now!
Anyone else find it confusing when in the end Chris takes off from the ground, a planet which is visible above looks exactly like Kaotica, no? So where does this video take place then? It was supposed to be on Kaotica. Sorry I'm totally lost ?

That's a bit confusing. If we stick to the orbit, we can't reach other planets or do they have all the planets on the same orbit in this solar system called The Spheres? ? Anyway, when not overthinking, it could mean that this album/project is separated into three parts, yes. Or maybe it is even 3 EPs, which make an album. I guess we are about to find out...

Classic Chris again ? Well, it's a whole other topic, but I guess it's fair to say at this point they are certainly halfway through their career. After being halfway through this actually seems finally like a fair thing to say by Chris, like it or not. ?

I see this BTS collab being quite possible in one way or another, given there is so many hints about it. I'm just hoping it's worth it, because BTS truly is just a product, not a real music act. So in this case this will be quite a risky collaboration, if this song really is good enough and doesn't leave a bad mark on the new album. If Coldplay can make it work well and seem natural, I'd be very impressed. But on the other hand, even if it's just an average song, it probably will boost the finance of Coldplay anyway. I was getting worried after these recent TV performances, the amount of fireworks and lights was just crazy. ? Anyway I would be surprised if there will be a new release so soon, because Higher Power is still quite fresh (music video is still being released) and from the rumours we have heard, the album won't be released in the next 3-4 months. But you never know, it can be a good move to have BTS collab boosting Higher Power as well. Having two hit singles will probably boost Coldplay's prominence for the coming months and it will be good for the album sales. There probably is at least one very strong single still left closer to album release. Very excited to see what's coming up next, because it's seemingly getting a bit quieter now after this run of live performances. And I still believe this new "album" has something more to it than just being a classic album format release, it is often referred more as a "project". So it will be interesting to see what it turns out to be.

I'm a bit worried by this possible BTS collaboration when considering Coldplay as a great live band. It better be a damn massive hit song or something weird that they never include in touring setlist or make another version for live performances, because obviously there will be will be a very few real live performances together with BTS on stage. I'm not really enjoying the vocals coming from backing tracks in live performances, already Princess of China a bit annoyed me and there has been more and more prominent vocal tracks coming from backing tracks since that. Also Higher Power has a lot quite prominent backing vocals coming from a tape and I really hope this isn't going to be a trend for the future. No hate against Coldplay trying out interesting new things, I just don't want their live performances to become a joke. If these vocal collaboration songs become important pieces in future setlist, they better work out how to make it genuine or make sure it's just one or two songs like that in setlist.

I don't know if it's said anywhere, but these number combinations on postcards definitely seem to be coordinates and form a shape over Iran. I found out in reddit that there is 6 different combinations of these numbers and wrote them with last number being after point (for example 26.7, 50.2). I mean it could be coincidence that it forms a shape over Iran, because it could be some other obscure coordinate system.. This is definitely weird, Coldplay or not.

[2021-05-22] Coldplay to Perform @ Worthy Farm Live Global Livestream
Visually stunning performance. Really enjoyed the proper live version of Higher Power. This one had very human and real live feel to it, not like these very perfected American Idol and BRITs performances. Also the intro and Human Heart totally change the expectations for the new album. Got really amazing spacey vibes from these. Seems like there will be some depth also, not just happy dance songs.

Not 100% sure, but where else to use them? At least for me the timeline of asking for these and everything seems to indicate these are for Glastonbury performance. Sorry if I'm wrong though.? Edit: And it seems I was wrong. Reason is in spoiler, if someone wants it to be surprise.

[2021-05-22] Coldplay to Perform @ Worthy Farm Live Global Livestream
In my opinion Champion of the World should fit in quite well in future setlists, if not in these little festival performances, then maybe on next tour. Maybe Everyday Life (the song) as well, if there is room for that on B-stage setlist or something. I don't want to hear this bullsh*t from Chris' mouth that nobody wants to hear any songs from EL album. ? Also, I'm waiting for some interesting rearrangements of some X&Y songs (in addition to Fix You), there is so much potential! Worthy Farm Live setlist most probably is full of previous hits indeed + Higher Power, but there has to be at least one surprise! Some new song from the next album (something more lowkey and not a future single), a cover, cool collaboration with someone or some old fans' favourite.

Wow, is Worthy Farm really recorded already? Didn't expect that, kind of disappointing, if it's true. Although, in my opinion it is very possible to plan such event to run smoothly in proper live broadcast, there is just some good preparation and planning needed. About the terminology, it's definitely confusing when they use "live" in the YouTube video title. In this case American Idol's video has more proper title indeed "Coldplay Performs Higher Power". And even this not 100% true, these truly are almost just music videos of a "live sounding version".
