The Astronaut
Agree on that, the mix and instrumentation is adapted for easy pop song and vocals are more in front. In that way it's a bit different to what Coldplay would do. That similar intro sound of Biutyful live version is playing very quietly in background. Would call it a distorted alien sound yes - it just sounded very similar in The Astronaut studio version. Still I'm not really sure how Johann Johannsen sample is used exactly.

The Astronaut
Although it's not officially a Coldplay song, I guess it's fair to say it's very much a Coldplay song, just given away as a gift for Jin to sing and co-write lyrics. If I may say so, it actually does feel more like a "Coldplay song" than My Universe did feel at first. Also I'm confident to say, this is belongs to MOTS, although again - not officially. Just my opinions, if anyone disagrees, feel free to prove your point. 🙂 My thoughts so far: It's a damn good pop song, there is magic in how vocals and background vocals are produced/mixed. Any thoughts, if this song gives away something about what's coming next in MOTS era? Working more with Kygo etc? Anyone else noticed that little ambient sound texture at the beginning seems pretty damn similar to the one the use for Biutyful live intro?

What happened to Xylobands?
Not sure if anything has happened to Xylobands, it is a separate company, but I haven't really followed what are they involved in and how successful they are right now. Although Xylobands as company probably was very much initiated by Coldplay at the start 10 years ago (they might still have a big hand in this company, but don't quote me on that - just a guess), there was also some competitive companies starting to develop similar wristbands. So, pretty bold guess, but I think Xylobands had just fallen behind in development compared to Pixmob. So what happened is that probably Pixmob is a larger company with better options for Coldplay, so eventually they decided to choose them over Xylobands which couldn't provide what they wished for - sustainability and more complex light patterns. I got to admit, compared to previous tour the wristbands light show is on insane level.

New dates for 2023 announced
I'm now just surprised how easily I managed to get a ticket for Paris in last October. Apparently this hype right now is on another level compared to the period when they were releasing album. Well of course there will be options later to get a ticket from resale. I won't be that disappointed as I managed to already go to Paris this summer and also managed to get one extra Paris date from resale just before the concert. But people who haven't got the chance to see them yet, will be very sad how difficult it is to get a ticket right now. Lucky you, I missed it yesterday, they weren't available anymore when I tried. Anyway, still this presale price added today when it's general sale is not right for me and I refused to pay it extra. Standard ticket prices have raised already compared to this summer, so I was a bit hesitant and thought maybe I'm a victim of scam. Probably it's a conscious decision by ticket sellers to add pre sale price even on the general sale, a bit dirty move, but when people buy with that price what can we do.

New dates for 2023 announced
I tried to get tickets for Naples, actually managed to get into purchase page, but I started doubting when I saw there is presale price added to them and thought maybe it's some bug or something and closed it. Standard price for pitch was 90 Euros and then there was added 13.5 Euros as presale price, which was weird in my mind. I would have got tickets if didn't start to question it 😄

New dates for 2023 announced
Seemed like there is pre sale price added to tickets. It's not a presale anymore, it was yesterday. So it seems very much like scam by ticket selling websites. Apparently people seem buy with that price, so they don't care. Coldplay is probably too hyped with promotion and shows going well. Were they really afraid to start sales a bit later when in Europe things have calmed down a bit after this summer? 😄

Music of The Spheres World Tour Setlist Predictions
Getting news about more shows coming up next year is making me think of some possible setlist updates. Yes, these hopes are based a little on hope for at least some EP being released. They have rushed out all the singles and promotional songs/videos in a very short period of time, so I'm wondering what's next... I see core of the setlist staying pretty much the same, it has a great flow. Some little changes and hopefully addition of some new songs could improve it though, most importantly make it fresh for the band to perform. I guess it would be nice to see predictions or fantasies what you have for possible updates. Any old songs appearing in some way? For example recent appearance of Don't Panic on piano is something which is so good, it should stay regular. What kind brand new songs you would dream of in setlist? Could we see some new ballad, dancey or heavy rock song? Currently is there any kind of distinct moment this show is lacking? It's built up very cleverly right now, each song and part of the show having very different and memorable essence to it. So any new old or new new song that would be introduced to setlist must have that x factor and stand out.

Setlist opinions
I was at the 17th and 19th July Paris concerts and as a fan I think this show is currently almost perfect, but I think for a casual stadium concert visitor, this is the best all-inclusive stadium show in the world right now. Massive and intimate, acoustic and heavy. Just for the background: At first MOTS as album wasn't that great for me, but has definitely grown on me and I think the variety of songs for live performances from this album is great. Some keypoints I would bring out: About opener and ending song, I somehow tend to think very opposite to earlier opinions. Higher Power is a great opener in my opinion, it's the most crowd interactive opener they have had. The openers before have sounded a bit distant to crowd, but Higher Power lyrically and musically builds the best connection with audience. At least close to stage, where I stood, the singing along was almost deafening me. Only downside is that this opener works 10x better in darkness. In daylight I would say AHFOD and Higher Power are quite equal from my experience. Biutyful as ending song definitely seemed odd choice at first, but I kind of got that. Now, that I have got used to this song more and saw it live, I think it is actually fantastic at the end. Although I'm not thinking it's a masterpiece song, when looking at the flow of this setlist, it fits there perfectly. It finishes concert with a small sweet song and somehow manages to give concert an open ending, not a massive "making you small in this world" closed ending and not making you confused and think about complex things. There are a lot of massive and big moments in this concert already and the ending is just about getting back down to earth. Also accompanied with outro tune A Wave "one day we'll see each other again" the whole ending gives a "looking forward to next day" feeling. Intro and outro are both well planned and they have certainly found the right tunes as well. They arrive and leave very humanly on B stage, with a sincere connection. Some highlights for me: Higher Power confetti trigger move by Chris is as cool as AHFOD confetti jump Viva la Vida on B stage and VLV chant during all the other moments when possible, including metro stations in center of Paris 😄 Let Somebody Go live on piano is actually great (wasn't convinced before seeing it). People of the Pride is awesomely designed stadium rocker. Clocks. They somehow made this classic song fresh for me and the green wristband light pattern was very trippy and amazing. Somehow this is always the first thing which always comes to my mind, when I think back to concert. A Sky Full of Stars. Probably the most fun and connected feeling you could ever have on a stadium. Humankind. With live shows it seems to have become an instant classic like Charlie Brown. Perfect fireworks song. Conclusive thoughts: Although it is a massive show, I think it's very unique that band doesn't make it feel at all like they are superstars who came to perform a show, it felt 100% like they came to see and hear each individual of the crowd as much as crowd came to hear and see them. Also I think that standing in front of A stage is not the very best spot, as it classically tends to be at concerts. Although it was good to see them play very close during one night at A stage, I had the best experience near the B stage the other night, because I felt more surrounded by crowd and had a better overview of everything and connected to all parts of the show. But I think at Coldplay shows there is no really bad spot, even at the very back it is amazing as I heard. I hope we have another chapter to MOTS shows with a possible vol 2, because as a fan I see some opportunity for small improvements in some points in setlist and maybe some new songs could provide some additional magic.

LED FLASHING BRACELETS
Just to clarify. Apparently these wristbands aren't Xylobands anymore. The new ones are made by Pixmob, if I remember correctly. Functionality overall is the same, but these new ones allow to have more complicated and advanced lighting patterns and of course sustainable plastic is used for these. Still, you get one at the entrance, put it on and return it when leaving the concert. Last tour, at least from my experience it was impossible to miss getting the wristband at the entrance, so it's not something to worry about - they make sure you have it. 😄

[2022-07-16] Stade de France, Paris, France
Don't know if it's appropriate to ask here, but I was wondering if any Coldplayer would like to just hang out in Paris or is interested to invite me to be part of some before concert fan gatherings that I don't know of. Still about 50 days to go, but since I'm planning it out right now, I had a dreamy idea of adding something to the concert experience with having some Coldplay fan community experience. Not having big hopes, "But if you never try, you'll never know". Still, waiting for my PM to be flooded with offers of course. For the background, a 30 yo guy, probably softcore Coldplay fan, generally modest and kind 😄 , from Northern Europe, planning his 5 day trip to visit Paris for the first time and having standing tickets just for 19th July concert.

🪐 Coldplay: Music of the Spheres 🪐 | Out Now! | Discussion
Well, it's all subjective how to structure their career, but your view is quite on point, when looking into their sonic evolution. There is one interesting pattern with their album covers so far. It's a rhythm of one having bright colours and next one having more laid back and pastel colour design. I don't know if it's intentional, but it kind of reflects in the music of respective albums as well somehow. Looking into future, I agree we might have musically chaotic future ahead of us. Also on the other hand it might not be that chaotic, because they seem to have developed their musical palate close to their maximum potential already. The facts are: there will be musical, which hopefully will have animated movie to it. I don't think it will be that crazy sonically, maybe some cinematic, atmospheric orchestral sound. we are getting album called Coldplay, which will have more acoustic, piano&guitar sound. "Back to basics" like Chris said. With these LP-s I don't see them using any extravagant production tricks, just what they have done already. But we also know there is going to be in total 12 albums, so in my opinion there just one LP, which has potential for further sonic development of Coldplay. I would say that a little bit depends on what they actually do with this MOTS concept - do they stick to it or have some more concepts before the final album. I'm really not sure if this MOTS concept has enough depth to carry through 3 volumes. I would be a bit disappointed if that's all they can think of until the final album, but I'm happy to be proven wrong with some amazing MOTS volumes. So I see three potential scenarios: MOTS having just an EP companion soon. A few additional songs to freshen up MOTS tour. And then we have LP10 & LP11, which are not MOTS related, but one of these is musical and one is something interesting... or maybe it's just a collection of reworked songs and finished old ideas. And then LP12 - Coldplay. MOTS indeed has two more full LP volumes, with vol 2 sonically a development of vol1 and vol 3 being musical. LP10 - MOTS vol 2, LP11 - MOTS vol3, LP12 - Coldplay. Just like the second scenario, except MOTS has just one more volume and musical is not part of MOTS.

🪐 Coldplay: Music of the Spheres 🪐 | Out Now! | Discussion
Now, when tour has been going on for a few weeks, it has sank in that there's probably a few interesting/controversial decisions in setlist. Coloratura doesn't seem to have a regular spot in setlist. I mean, wtf happened with that? It was their "favourite song to play" (said by Chris word by word) and fans seemed to agree, it's a definite show closer. Now it's played sometimes in the middle of setlist as a shortened version... I don't have a problem with that shortened version and it being played in the middle of setlist. It seemed to work really well, but why is it not regular? Something tragic must have happened. It is a long song, but as a shortened version, there is absolutely no way, it's too long and boring. So, this is a bullshit explanation. Don't want to be harsh, but in my opinion Let Somebody Go is the song, which definitely doesn't deserve a regular spot on setlist. It's so weak and boring as a Chris solo performance in a big stadium. Everglow seemed to work, LSG doesn't do the same trick. Only trick it does, is people going to bathroom and letting something go. (seems like yesterday's show got Foo Fighters cover instead). Biutyful became a show closer. After checking a few videos and looking at the flow of this setlist, I actually find this quite good decision for now. It kind of seems to work, as a bright, nice little song after intense and explosive show. + this acoustic guitar sounds so good. A Wave as an outro tune - this sounds so amazing, whether it's some scrapped idea or something from the possible MOTS vol 2. Lyrics sounded like "Speak in a language without a name. One day we'll meet each other again"? Anyway, it works perfectly when they walk off. Does anyone think there might be some new MOTS material released soon and appearing in the setlist? I somehow have a feeling, that they might have a few ideas already waiting. For example I predict, Biutyful is song, which gets to be a show closer until they replace it something else. Overall, MOTS concert seems like AHFOD concert on steroids. The effects, lights and design of the stage is in every way upgrade and looks spectacular. Let's just see how this tour evolves.

[2022-03-18] Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica, San José, Costa Rica
Checked the setlist and a few videos. I didn't get the act stuff, what is the story behind these? Song choices are ok, but looking at setlist, there are better ways to order these songs. I mean, maybe it works as an whole show and there is some logic behind it, when you get to experience it. Still, making Biutyful a show closer was a bold choice and seems like they really really like this song for some reason, although it got really mixed reactions, some even made fun of it. I liked it before, but seeing this as a closer makes me look at this song from a different perspective. I honestly thought this song might get maximum a few performances on B stage. Anyway, this setlist might change a lot, too early to judge MOTS concert. Good to see that tour started and hopefully situation in the world stays favourable. Can't wait for my turn in Paris.

Music of The Spheres World Tour Setlist Predictions
Here's my attempt. Tried to think of the most realistic setlist, but also included a few interesting twists in the middle. I think Strawberry Swing, Gravity and Hypnotised would work perfectly in this setlist, but are highly unlikely.

Music of The Spheres World Tour Setlist Predictions
I was thinking about the recently used setlist in promo gigs and how it would work on stadiums. Considering that a lot of North American and European shows in May-June-July probably start in daylight, I feel like at least Clocks, Fix You so early in setlist won't work that well. These songs somehow demand darkness for lasers, wristbands and fireworks. I know it sounds a bit weird reason, but because of that I feel like the recently used setlist will get a bit twisted.

Music of The Spheres World Tour Setlist Predictions
First concert of the tour is quite close, just a week to go. Been thinking about the possible setlist. I'm not a big fan of full setlist predictions, because it becomes too much of a fantasy competition. So I instead I raise some pretty straightforward questions, maybe some of you are interested to give your thoughts. Intro/first song. Ideas and predictions? Any interesting ideas, how the intro would be played out this time? To be honest, I have no idea what they could do to make it as good as AHFOD intro with Charlie Chaplin speech. But for the first proper song I see there's mainly two different predictions circling - either Higher Power or Humankind. I would say either of them would be good, but I predict Higher Power for the first song and Humankind for second or third. I think Higher Power gives more freedom for Chris to dance and interact with audience. During Humankind he's probably "stuck" with acoustic guitar. End of the concert. Any surprises? This seems to be pretty much decided. My Universe->ASFOS->Coloratura. Or do you think there might be surprises? Which important song/your personal favourite from previous tours do you think will get dropped? Some have feared Charlie Brown might get dropped, but I think it will stay. I predict Hymn for the Weekend and Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall will not be part of MOTS setlist. For me Humankind seems to be a song which potentially replaces ETIAW very successfully. Which old song do you think might return into setlist permanently for this tour? My bet is on Politik, this has to become a regular song in setlist again.

[2022-03-18] Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica, San José, Costa Rica
Too early to say, but so far mainstage with runaway and B-stage seems very very similar to AHFOD, probably they even reuse most of it. I think it would be fine, it's a good stage for them and no need to build something too crazy, which needs a lot of resources to build and transport. They might have some upgrades for continetal concerts (North America and Europe), where it's easier with transport.

Coldplay announces net zero world tour
It's difficult to understand and explain the mindset behind the violence what's happening, but you put it beautifully "how can we unlearn this?". I've been asking the same question and all the other questions for the past week, because living close to Russia, having history of being occupied by their Soviet regime, this situation is touching me and my nation very closely and it's been quite an intense week. This right now in Ukraine is basically just another unprovoked attack against humankind - destroying, occupying freedom of another country and then lying about it and manipulating people that this was needed and an ok thing to do. I really hope it can be finished smartly without escalating into something big and we get more and more examples of peaceful solutions in future as well. Because this is the only way we are able to change that. We can have different views about the world, but we can't continue forever like animals fighting without choosing weapons. And to make it more like a post in Coldplay forum, everyone should ask "am I the future or the history?" - are we forever stuck with barbaric manners or are we able to unlearn them. Are the historians forever being able to say this stupid sentence "History tends to repeat itself"? Feeling lucky that we have the band Coldplay standing for the worldview I and we, Coldplay fans, share (hopefully most parts of it). This world tour hopefully can help to spread the kindness and peace around the world once again, because after all this is the foundation for all the "net zero and green" part of it. There is no way to peace, peace is the way.

[2022-03-18] Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica, San José, Costa Rica
Wow, excited to see what the stage looks like. I'm guessing they will probably do a good amount of stadium rehearsals in Costa Rica. This will not be like soundcheck, more like a training camp before the tour starts, haha.

Going back to this October post, during the current situation, I can't believe they managed to make such advertisement in Moscow. Some of the music from Everyday Life and MOTS hits differently these days.

Coldplay @Expo Dubai 2020
Yes, something seemed off today with today's performance and also with stream audio a bit. I haven't took time to look more into details yet, but it seemed like they had some problems with timing and click tracks. These might have been some technical issues, because was quite complex show technically. I'm sure things will work better on tour, especially when the whole crew and band gets used to everything after a few shows. We can expect a few rusty shows at the starr of tour for sure.

🌙 Coldplay: Moon Music 🎵 | Out October 4th | Discussion
As much as I know, this is just if. For me it could mean anything still. Could be still 2024 also. So unless there's some more information, it's just a big speculation. Though, MOTS was maybe indeed released a bit later than initially planned. Although their label bosses stated before Everyday Life, that next album is coming soon, I'm pretty sure they didn't have a fixed date for MOTS at that point, so it's hard to tell, for how long it was actually delayed.

Music of the Spheres Vol.2 Rumor Thread
Indeed there's so much music in the world for everyone. If people just lash out some simplistic hate for artists, it just shows they might actually have some deeper issues in their life. It's not just about Coldplay, there's toxicity amongst all fandoms. With MOTS probably the biggest problem seems to be that on surface most of the songwriting seems to be very easy and pop oriented. Most of the songs (except Coloratura of course) are quite tightly arranged and don't really have space to breathe that much. I think they actually did quite ok, but it's fair that their music probably doesn't come across in the best possible way with tight pop songs. Also I think, music like that is vulnerable for easy criticism. Even well known music critics go hard on this, because it's enjoyable to say how bad the biggest band in the world is. So this somehow creates illusion that album is really fking terrible. Still this album delivered quite a few great additions for their live shows and let's not forget, playing stadium shows is what really seems to drive the band and some of the songs work best in big shows. So I'm happy they have some new songs which are excited to perform and I can't wait to see MOTS world tour. I think they have stepped up their show a lot despite album being criticised.

I was too doubtful to put all money on POTP.😁 Anyway, it's more interesting choice than Humankind. I was hoping they go for POTP as single, when I first heard it. It deserves a video as well.
