  1. Snow Patrol - Run
  2. 9/10. Really good song, but a bit too off-centre for me. Much prefer Tomorrow Comes Today & Feel Good Inc :P Kasabian - Club Foot
  3. Aqua :P
  4. ^ Sienna I think that was a pix of Ashlee Simpson  :dead: No way is she Will's wife! :o I think he was covering for Will... the song was quite probably at least inspired by her (though maybe not about her exactly)... I mean how many Marianne's do you know / have you heard about? Too much of a coincidence in my book, and the drumming's pretty sweet in there too ;) So now we know there's a song for Gwyneth, maybe one for Marianne... What about Guy's & Jonny's other halves? :sneaky:
  5. ^ Ren definitely's got a (mostly female :P) fanbase... Why don't you snuck some for yourself? :sneaky:
  6. Yeah... It's 14 pages (of shit) now
  7. ^ That means I'll really miss out too... with my Asian height and all :bigcry: Maybe we could wear really high heels? :P
  8. But who's got the emotion spot on? I'd answer James Blunt. He might not be that good musically, but then Coldplay weren't that good either (compared to loads of others)... As far as music for the masses goes, only one thing reliably sells: emotion. The more your emotion clicks with the market, the more your album sells ;) Not bashing Coldplay or anything, just pointing out a piece of marketing reality. That said, James Blunt is not too bad... I think he's pleasant and calming to listen to
  9. Thanks, a lot Sherine for the article... It was a lovely piece of info, really appreciate it :D Btw, could Sweet Marianne be a tribute to her then? :o
  10. Reckoner, are you part of a band or somfin?
  11. ... you hang around the boards for hours everyday even if it's a real slow day and the only replies you're getting are for threads like 'the NAME game' :P
  12. Same here. But then again, I get so used to change that I need a shake-up every once in awhile, or else I fall into a rut. A nice change is invigourating but if it's a bad change, I tend to cope badly... the world just seems to fall apart, even if it's just a small thing that has to change
  13. Who's the topic of conversation? Or is it a secret band only Ren and Fifi can know? :sneaky:
  14. Snow Patrol - Run
  15. Kasabian - Club Foot
  16. ^ I really like fruit cake with liquor... that's nice. Hafta try more types
  17. E-Street Band (& Bruce Springsteen)
  18. and a swell mod like me, doesn't? Fine be that way. I hate all of you. :sneaky: I second that, we deserve a thread too  The thing is, i'm not a swell mod booo  Aww... you mods, don't be upset... Ren don't say that, you're one of the most terrific mods around! Sweet One, please don't be angry :bigcry: Sorry if we missed your birthdays... :embarrased: I guess I wasn't around when either of you had yours... Luff the both of you tho , you're both so :nice: Hicksy better get on here soon, he's so lucky we're around :wink3: How about a (very) belated b'day thread for the both of you, our  mods?
  19. Has an unbelievable number of posts and become a Life is for Living'er
  20. ^ Aahh... So that's where it comes from... I really love you guys' sense of humour. The land of 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' Ace! I so look forward to going there :D
  21. What a great movie! Has anyone watched it? It's every football lover's wet dream... all those slick moves. Kuno Becker really looks like a pro in there :P
  22.  the same thing happened to me. Really? How much did you take? :P
  23. Kekita, the plural is theses :P Yeah, I do think they definitely have thought about having their own label... But some drawbacks: less publicity machinery in place, having to manage everything else (i.e. the business side of things). As for their contract, I'm not too sure... Do they have a 5-album deal (seem to remember reading something like that some time back)? But last I heard was that they were given an option to sign a further deal with Parlophone (EMI) after the release of Parachutes... If they still care about where they're heading, I'm sure they will use the leverage they have gained from the massive sales of X&Y to exert some pressure back on EMI, i.e. to take back some control of deadlines, type of sound, marketing/publicity etc. Btw, not to criticise but did anybody notice there are some similarities in sound/production between X&Y & Gorillaz's Demon Days? :P I have to disagree Sienna. There have been other musicians who've been roundly criticised, even to a worse extent. E.g. the BSB, U2, etc. Basically, personal criticism of this magnitude is levelled when the artiste fulfills two basic requirements (apart from making music that's considered not good enough) : 1) massive sales/popularity; and for some reason 2) are membered by sincere people who care about the world (i.e. issues outside music) and dare to voice their stand. Agree on all three points: 1) they were raw, young talents... So I guess we have to grant them that they did not foresee so far into the future. The relevant question now is: What are they gonna do about it? 2) Yep, the publicity did go into hyperbole following Gwyn. They changed from being considered more-or-less alternative into something more pop-ish... which I think has something to do with --> 3) Chris having some trouble finding where he stands with regards to emotions on X&Y, which shows. Maybe that's something the band has to recognise and resolve (which they did try to on X&Y, but didn't succeed too well)... the fact that the rest of the band are still rooted to the melancholic feel in their lives more so than Chris. You just get the feeling that Chris is far too happy in his current environment to be able to feel the melancholy that he used exude previously. I think that's one explanation for the 'emotional emptiness' on X&Y. You can still hear emotion, but it's not in line with what the rest of the guys are projecting... It's probably more of an emotional dissonance than emptiness, and I think a lot of fans are hearing it and not taking it very well. Maybe Coldplay do need to go into pop whole-heartedly (at least until Chris recovers some of his 'sadness'), and hopefully somehow fans & critics can accept that... or if the band does realise it and still wants to make melancholic songs then they will have to help Chris with it: Just the four of them holed up somewhere in the British countryside with strictly no visitors for a few months perhaps? :P It'd be unfair to their families though of course
  24. ^ I thought Independence Day wasn't too bad... It could've been so much worse!
