  1. ^ What I meant was, why didn't they just announce it straightaway that there'd be two shows... Instead of creating all this chaos when they initially only announced the first ones... I understand they want a frenzy... But I think it's not a nice thing to do to your own fans (that is assuming Coldplay/management had any say in the marketing decisions)... Still I think they should have put their foot down, or am I asking too much from them?
  2. ^ Is having fun at how hilarious RICK8 being lost is!
  3. Dunno how I could've forgotten that one :o Here's one more... Four to the Floor - Starsailor
  4. I agree. The funny thing is, most of us I think would agree that their third album was supposed to answer this question... And, it hasn't :o They delayed answering this question with X&Y, and now have even bigger boots to fill on their next one.
  5. ^ 0/10 because there's no avatar? OR 10/10 for that brilliant idea i.e. which is to have no avatar ?
  6. The thing for me is, why didn't they just plan for at least two shows in places such as Sydney and Melbourne? For sure they should know it'd be sold out given how popular this tour has been in the US since their album came out and how well received they were the last time they went to Australia... I mean come on, I live half a world away from both these places and I could've told them that  I'm just a bit angry that they caused such a scramble for tix and stressed out so many fans  But I am happy that at least all the people here so far have managed to get the tix they wanted :) As for me, Jess831 with some luck I'll hopefully be going to the Brisbane 23/06 date GA-standing tix yoohoo!!! Thanks to a fellow fan... Coldplay fans are so nice!!! :D
  7. Travis
  8. ^^^   Majorly funny. At this point, I'd advocate change... Whatever huge change they can think of... The bigger the better. Coz I know in the end, they can't ignore the sales part of their music... True, they may not be aiming to sell as much as X&Y anymore, but still, they'll expect themselves to sell a few million copies at least... Now that won't happen unless they produce good stuff. Which is good news to me... Coz no matter what direction they take, rest assured the music will be good, and won't sound like it's beyond their ability. I say bring on the rap and hip-hop... As long as it sounds like proper rap/hip-hop and not them just imitating/ridiculing the style. Personally though, I think country (ala A Message, Lost Highway etc) is one direction they'd do very well in... I always wish they'd do a little bit more of that though it's not very popular with one section of their fans. Maybe they could gain new fans doing that? :D
  9. ^ Well, you get more bling? What use that is, beats me. Oh, let me introduce you to a far more noble way to use your bling... Donate it. :o
  10. I know, but is there anyway to find out the sales numbers? I read somewhere that in the US, sales is reckoned according to how many copies have been shifted rather than the actual numbers sold. And the body that does that is the US Billboard 100. So as you said yourself, it's certified double platinum by the Billboard i.e. 2 million copies shipped so far...
  11. Question for any Australians out there... Can anyone help me? I'm going to get a mobile next year... My dad suggested that I buy one from my home country before getting a SIM card in Australia and activating it there... But I heard the general practice in Australia is that the phone will be provided together with the network service so I don't need to get one. Can someone explain to me how it works please? :D Thanks. Sorry if it sounds weird or anything... <-- Neubie to all things Down Under :P
  12. ^ Yes, X&Y was ok. The point here is, it was just ok... The current production doesn't bring out the best of the band... You get everything from the mix in equal proportions, both the good and the bad. I say Coldplay are lucky (or more probably, smart) this time, they called the album X&Y and explained it in terms of accepting both the good and the bad parts, so their production shortcomings can be viewed as part of the 'X&Y concept'. But personally, I so think that production really screwed up their album this time (along with quite a few other notable albums of late)... The music was actually good, but the production ruined it all. I especially hated that the loud parts of X&Y felt muted down and didn't achieve their cathartic effect like they should. Witness how good the songs sound when blasted full-up in concert. I agree with ugadawg5 totally, they should have stuck with Ken Nelson. Yes, hands up for either Nigel Godrich (he's a production god) or Ken Nelson, or *shriek* both!
  13. ^ But I think for a lot of us... What made Coldplay unique (out of so many other bands out there) was that they sounded a lot more sincere and intimate (I would even venture to say second-to-none on this) than many others. So it's uber-tragic for this section of us fans, that they seem to have lost that aspect of their music...
  14. ^ Is a Jimi Hendrix fan! Love his hair :D Totally!

  21. And oh yeah... this thread is so totally pointless... But fun :dozey:  So Silverion, when're you going to give us your list?
  22. I'll give you a definite top 5-ver... The BSB - Millennium! :o Oh and probably Black & Blue as well as Backstreet's Back...  Sure as hell just couldn't resist... Talk about hype (as well as deserving in terms of talent) They're good... But 80 million albums in total? Oh, and I'm sure Thriller made the list :D I can reel some of them off, but only because I used to be a huge BSB fan and spent loads of time looking at their record-breaking stats (that band had to rely on such feats among other things for its credibility). The thing I can't shake off is, one reason that made me like Coldplay more was because they were off-mainstream... Now that they're becoming mega, why do I see another BSB-type revolution coming, exactly the thing I thought I was avoiding with Coldplay?  In as far as the best albums of the last 60? That's a totally different story altogether...
  23. ^ Looks like it... A non-existant Kyle at that!
