  1. ^ Ok... Here goes.
  2. One of the few songs in there that actually actively tries to make sense :idea2:
  3. Is it just me or does there not seem to be a difference between the tracks listed as X and those listed as Y? I mean to me at least, it seems as though any of the songs could be put on either list... What's the thing that separates them?
  4. ^ Good point to vote for this album
  5. ^ Yep... Good luck :D
  6. No you're not... Found yourself another one :D But the more I go along, the more I find I'm a bit agnostic... In the sense that I believe there's something out there... not necessarily a higher being, but definitely a natural force that shapes things. I still go with Buddhism coz that's something that saved me. I know it's pretty cliched (and I do tend to flinch at people who say a certain religion saved them) but it's the truth. I was a pretty messed up kid and was on my way to wasting life away until I found Buddhism (or maybe this religion found me)... Somehow, everything clicked into place and I found all the answers that I needed so desperately then. Of course I still don't have all the answers but that's ok... There'll always be Coldplay & Parachutes   So it's Buddhism... For appearing in my life when I most needed it though I don't practice it as purely now. I guess by that definition, Coldplay's my 2nd 'religion'. Hey, why aren't they included? I'm pretty sure some agnostics would choose them :P
  7. Neither, both have their good and bad moments equally. What's the silliest thing you've ever heard / done?
  8. ^ I support listening to Parachutes first. The band may not necessarily agree but I think Parachutes was their defining album... The album that showed the world who they are, what they're about and what made them special compared to other bands
  9. Same here... There's something about Parachutes. I fell in love with it straightaway... Even from the first song "Don't Panic". Maybe that song has made all the difference. It just transports you to this magical place, and from then on for the rest of the album it stays there and never looks back... Listening to Parachutes lying in bed on a lazy morning / late at night = pure bliss. That album had melancholy & pathos unlike any other. The other two are technically & production-wise an improvement from Parachutes... but somehow... I guess Parachutes is just one-of-a-kind. Those guys really were at a special place back then. I don't think there'll be another one like it  They may yet learn how to harness those emotions & pathos and combine them with their bigger sounds for future albums
  10. Here's the article from Blender (as mentioned in the CNN article) :D http://www.blender.com/guide/articles.aspx?ID=1602
  11. Ditto. Oh my God. Gentle, does that mean you got the album before I did? nooooo.... j/k. Nope, that does NOT mean I managed to get mine first (still haven't yet)... I'll be getting it in about 2 weeks. :o How about you? Did u manage to be the first in line? Where was it? One Utama? Hope u succeeded... :D
  12. PM me your e-mail addy... I"ll send it to you :)
  13. Maybe they're giving fans more time to like... Saving it so to speak?
  14. Me for one. I'd heard of them before but never felt compelled to know more... Does anyone have Computer Love?
  15. ^ Haha, maybe they figure enough people don't like Coldplay, and that it's time to go against populist views
  16. Any idea how us old fans are reacting, as in whether it's as well received as the previous two albums? I mean I like that they're evolving but I'm not sure how fan reaction is... I've been pretty harsh myself at times.
  17. Thanks... Any other takes on the equalizers?
  18. Yea, I think most of the critical articles do have their points, though it mostly goes to show how much they (the critics) have misunderstood Coldplay and the music they have made. X&Y is (like the band themselves have said) about contrasts, one of which is the band going back and forth with their insecurities & world-beating confidence at the same time. Sonically, it's a very strange & unsettling experience for listeners, one which I can't say I readily like... About Peedston's agreement with the criticism that the album being faultless to a fault does not sit well with Coldplay's hearts-on-their-sleeve music, it is an observation that I agree with, though I think we may have to consider it in light of the album being called X&Y: the band doing a 180 degree turn in consciously trying to shed their vulnerabilities
  19. Quote from the Chicago Tribune (on Til Kingdom Come)... "Sonically it doesn't quite fit on "X&Y." But at its core, it's the type of song Coldplay does best. In their quest to conquer the world, Martin and company shouldn't forget that their best music isn't always necessarily their biggest." Spot on I'd say. :D
