People tend to put down other's favorites that they don't like mainly because for a few reasons: 1.) To piss you off. 2.) They're arrogant. 3.) They're assholes. 4.) Screw #4. :P Trust me, I know how you must feel on this issue. My oldest brother worships Bowie and Bjork, and never had I heard him make a positive note on the artists I like. Not only that, but I listen to a Japanese band (Asian Kung-Fu Generation), and whenever I listen to them, or even mention them, he acts all xenophobe... I guess he thinks that I listen to them because their Japanese, but if so, he's wrong. :\ As for voicing an acceptable opinion, I'm also okay with that, but as far as to tell you to stop wearing the shirt of a band you love is as far as crossing the North Korean border; it ain't gonna happen. To wrap up this rant, don't listen to the pointless statements people say about the music you listen to, as they probably haven't heard enough of your favorite artists to even like them. Ultimately, you are the judge of what you listen to. Don't let anyone get to you, and... Express yourself freely through music. :D
