  4. First of all, there is no guarantee this is true. Just an article I came across and thought some might be interested. To me this looks like a gossip site (correct me if I'm wrong), so take this with a bucket of salt. Double action: Coldplay are working on two comeback albums, says their record label COLDPLAY fans can expect a lot more Magic as the band are plotting not one but two comeback albums. So far, Chris Martin’s boys have only announced their sixth album, Ghost Stories, which will arrive next month with a markedly different sound. But their record label is expecting a more commercial companion album to follow next year. A label insider told me: “Ghost Stories is sort of a low key release for Coldplay, if that’s possible. “It’s their chance to try out some different ideas on a smaller scale before coming back next year with a more traditional record.” In fact, Ghost Stories and its mysterious follow-up have been likened to how Radiohead and U2 experimented with two-pronged releases midway through their careers. My source continued: “U2 did it with Achtung Baby and Zooropa. “And it’s no secret Coldplay have always admired Radiohead. “They did a similar thing with their experimental Kid A album in 2000, returning a year later with sister release Amnesiac. "It’s that kind of idea.” Frontman Chris, 37, has thrown himself into music since splitting from wife Gwyneth Paltrow, 41. But Coldplay are not expected to embark on a major tour until 2015. My man seasoning Chris’s falafels revealed: “There probably won’t be a huge amount of activity from the band this year, just smaller dates. “Next year is when fans can look forward to some much bigger Coldplay tour dates.” It is a wise deflective move for the band since Chris’s private life has made headlines across the world. It will give fans the time to digest their new sound and look forward to an even larger catalogue of different work in 2015. For now, Ghost Stories drops on May 19 and an exhibition of album artwork by Mila Fürstov will go on show around the same time. link
  5. to me this is a big step up from the last two videos. didn't like it that much the first time around, but now love it. think this will be a video i will come back to more.

guess they are getting back on the promotional cycle from this week on. this was shown on sunrise australia (monday morning their time). seems to have been recorded along with the sports relief performance. we might get more of such recorded performances soon i guess. http://au.tv.yahoo.com/sunrise/video/watch/22438060/coldplay-performs-for-sunrise/
  9. what are you talking about? if you are implying that i am a traitor, get your facts right. i just found it. obviously someone else put it there in the first place.
  10. I was looking to find what track Midnight was based on and finally found it. check out the first track on this playlist. not sure how to embed. https://soundcloud.com/astrangelyisolatedplace/asip-1-00-00

  12. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame of the Future NEEDS HELP Coldplay You could make a convincing case that Coldplay has already locked up a Rock Hall spot. Assuming the Rock Hall is still interested in honoring rock groups in 2023, the year Coldplay is eligible, it’s not like there will be a ton of other options among early 21st-century bands. The White Stripes (eligible in 2024) are a no-brainer, and Arcade Fire (possible class of 2029) could be, too, if it doesn’t fall off of a cliff both commercially and critically in the next several years. After that, who you got? The Killers? Kings of Leon? Fall Out Boy? Nah, no, and fuck no! So, the lack of competition will help Coldplay’s chances greatly. Still, I feel like Coldplay needs one more definitive album to cinch its place in the Rock Hall. Let me make a sports analogy: For an athlete to make a hall of fame, a standard of dominance must be established. MVP awards, batting titles, passing records, that sort of thing. You must be able to prove that at some point in your career, you towered over everybody else in your field. I don’t think Coldplay can make that case. It has never been considered “the greatest band in the world” nor “the biggest band in the world.”4 Coldplay has always just been Coldplay, and I’m not sure if that’s quite enough at this point. link
  13. this is heartbreaking. supposed excerpt from true love: Best of all was “True Love,” which married Coldplay’s loveliest melody to date—a vertiginous, asymmetrical, absolutely exquisite piece of writing—to a soul-baring set of lyrics by Martin. “Say that you love me,” he pleaded again and again, presumably to Paltrow. “If you don’t, lie to me.” link all the lyrics i've seen so far to me is from a perspective of a man really trying to make a relationship work. makes me think that maybe gwyneth wanted out. but who knows. all we have is a (hopefully) wonderful record coming out. and everything else is basically speculation.
  14. Edit by Sparky - Track by Coldplay and Cat Power released - more info and links here Braff filled Garden State, his 2004 directorial debut, with infectious tunes from the Shins, Simon & Garfunkel, and Coldplay. Wish I Was Here, his directorial followup — which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and hits theaters across the country this summer — is similarly packed with cool music, including original songs from the Shins and Bon Iver. But Sundance audiences weren’t privy to the final piece to Braff’s eclectic soundtrack. “We also have an original song sung by Cat Power, written by Chris Martin,” Braff tells EW exclusively. “It wasn’t ready yet for [sundance]. It’s the title song of the movie. It’s one of the most amazing songs ever.” Wish I Was Here debuts in New York and Los Angeles July 18. The film opens in additional cities July 25. link
  15. I read this in fox news. who knows if it's true but i can see that happening. A source connected to Martin said he already determined – long before the official break-up announcement – that he would not be doing any press to promote the new release, which slated to hit shelves and the digital market on May 19. We’re also told that Martin considers this latest musical offering to be the “most personal” to date, perhaps inspired in large part by his marriage troubles. The first single, “Magic” which debuts this month seems to point to the notion of a split. link
  16. he is being his charming self.. hopefully it will come across tv well. [video=youtube;vON3u4qnfUA]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vON3u4qnfUA
  17. ^ yeah i thought the same thing. also, during the last few months, although the album was to be released very soon, chris was in LA mostly while the rest of the band were in london, they must have been working on things for awhile and put their time in. seems like it just didn't work out.
  18. chris and gwyneth splitting up!! it's soooo sad..... i can't believe it! this was posted on goop: It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate. We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been. We are parents first and foremost, to two incredibly wonderful children and we ask for their and our space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time. We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and coparent, we will be able to continue in the same manner. Love, Gwyneth & Chris
  19. ^ hahaa. isn't it funny? " Martin and bassist Guy Berryman making music by playing the laser beams like a harp", "drummer Will Champion providing subtle guitar licks". wish the article mentioned jonny's piano playing too. sky full of stars is show stopping? can't wait!
  20. solo guitar cover. awesome! [video=youtube;zuuBHOBmn3E]
  21. Actually, if i remember correctly, it was markus dravs that told chris that the death and all his friends demo wasn't good enough. he mentioned that specifically as an anecdote to show how dravs kicked their butts. and chris didn't mention what aspects of the song dravs didn't like (lyrics as you mention) the band have said again and again that everything on the songs and the songs themselves have to get the approval of every band member. and i remember in a kroq interview, the interviewers asking whether the other members have a say in the lyrics and chris said absolutely. since even though they may not sing, they play on the songs. and i remember chris saying that name dropping is prohibited in coldplay songs and getting the words china and japan were hard enough. this is a will's rule. so i wouldn't say chris has total and final say on the lyrics, even though he is the primary writer. but overall i agree with you that the lyrics feel uninspired. that's my problem. it's ok to be simplistic. we'll have to just wait and see, but lyrically, this may not be on par with their best. on the concept idea, we have to understand that it is their artistic vision. since x&y, they have been very careful on this. i am still not over not including moving to mars in mx, but it is their work after all. all the same the atmosphere of the songs have me very excited. what we've heard so far give me a lot of hope. not essentially lyrically.
  22. WTF! seems like another concert just finished! before the scheduled one we know of. people are just coming out and one posted the set list. dang.. this is what a secret show is.. Edit: oops.. my bad. thought the concert was to be at the same time as the previous. but seems this one was earlier in the day? link
  23. from the same tumblr poster: What was with the diving board? ok, hi guys im home and with a laptop so here i go with questions (sorry it took so long) the diving board was at a pool, and yep it was Chris!! It was shot for a video sequence concept thing for the filming of the concert (and possibly for the small show tour…?). It appeared during a song and the shot was of Chris underwater in slow motion, so he was on the diving board to jump into the water (fully clothed as seen in the video lmao). The reason why I know about it was because Chris fucked up For Another’s Arms there was a similar video playing of women underwater, so when we went to the next song only one panel of the many around the place was the video of Chris in the pool. Chris then stopped playing and pointed to the screen and said something like “that’s not right??” before realizing that it WAS right and everyone laughed and he said he “I fucked up and I was wrong, sorry” He then went on saying “Who’s that??” seriously before going “Oh shit it’s me, I filmed that on friday, I can’t believe I forgot.” And we all laughed at him and he then jokingly said “What you can’t actually see in this video is that I’m wearing spandex” --------------- OMG flying Chris? Like really flying not jumping? omfg askdjzxfsakoeruiytfgdsajkdf Thinking about it, I don’t really wanna answer this question much because it’ll ruin the magic of the concert airing next month :c but basically, Chris: “You guys may witness the death of a singer if this goes horribly wrong” and it didn’t, it went cool I’m really torn about this guys, like idk a h hhh --------------- Ohh please give more details!! The one about Chris on the diving board?? Flying Chris?? Is ASFOS sorta live Viva? I mean, does it have a chant thing? Okay, I'm so sorry I'm asking so many questions, and I'm sure your inbox is flooded right now. Sorry. :(( Thank you so much for giving all of us details on what happened to you! And I'm so sorry for bombarding you with questions!! :( Hey Kelly!! Nah, it’s cool, i dont mind answering questions!! Answered about the diving board, torn about revealing flying Chris, BUT I can answer about ASFOS It doesn’t have a /chant/ really, but it’s VERY catchy (they played it twice and people were singing along by the second time g o d). I kinda wanna say it’s like ETIAW?? Like, uplifting like that song, but also a cross breed of Charlie Brown maybe?? (EDIT: Maybe DLIBYH… it’s beat catchy, you get my drift) Has the new sorta element we have in GS’s too, so it’s nice I wish I could sing because I distinctly remember how to sing the lyric “I think of youuuuu-(high)oooooo-(lower)ooooooo” (i just sang it and i cant write it phonetically, this is sososososo off ksadhakj) "YEA. YEA. YEA. WHOO!!!" *jumping then ensues* --------------- Please do explain everything you didn't elaborate on? xD sorry I'd choose but I'm really interested to know since I couldn't be there ok let’s see diving board check, flying chris sorta check concepts: The filming has a lot of like… visual tricks and metaphors and some cool footage that sound really nice!! One shot, a close-up of Chris’ face, took a g e s because it required Chris to stand still and the cameras wouldnt align right and he kept sweating so they wiped him down constantly so it was funny. At one point, someone (I feel so bad, I can’t remember his name especially bc he was so important urgh) told him that they needed Chris to grab his guitar with his left hand and Chris said “My left hand? Okay. Is there any particular place my left nostril needs to be?” or something like that, it was really funny again not gonna explain the out-right “concepts” because it would spoil!! Hopefully i explained that ok link
  24. thanks Dianne for the wonderful review and everyone else that posted reviews so far. btw, i saw that chris messed up a song last night and had to redo. is that true?
