you raise some valid points. remember how MTM went? when coldplay played it at itunes festival, chris mentioned that that could be the last time the song will be played live. but with this, i get the feeling that the position of the song is better defined in terms of the other songs. but they could be road testing the song to make adjustment. i also remember how princess of china intro was cut down after it's live debut. anyway, if this is the weakest on the album, i think i'll be happy :) and the lack of information about the song makes me think this is a new approach to teasing material/era. afterall, it got the fans and the media grasping for straws to draw some news off it.

wonder if we'll ever see an obvious bass solo in a coldplay song. i have my doubts. guy did say he likes the repetition and getting in to it like a mantra. anyway, for me guy shines in magic.

OK, I see the same level of aggressiveness from some on both for and against the song sides. Let's all have a civil conversation, being respectful to each other. Afterall, a fan forum is where people come to discuss, and yes, that includes both positive and negative opinions. :-) Anyway, back to the song, since the piano track was prerecorded and was played on cue even with a broken piano, seems like its a safe bet to say that the song is designed to be sung live with Chris only doing the vocals.

Aww.. I still haven't watched the whole set. So this snippet is a nice highlight :-) for me, a big part of coldplay's allure is their chemistry.

OK, so a lot of negativity about the negativity for the song. Just to get an outside perspective on the song, look at the less than lukewarm reception to "a new song by one of the biggest bands in the world putting out a glimpse of a new era" received by the industry press. The new song wasn't even a highlight in the context of the festival or even the highlight of the short coldplay set! That spot was reserved for the Ariana duet. I'm not saying this should influence your opinion of the song one bit. Just showing that this is not a time where existing long term coldplay fans critisize their current work for no reason. The world is starting to be indifferent to their new output.

didn't watch the set yet, but listened to the song. certainly similarities to AIMH. a little too many for my liking. for me, it is a nice song, in a bad way. this is right up coldplay's alley. been there, done that. a little too many times. and for me, not worth repeating. you've gotta get people's hearts racing when you allude to new music from a new era! like with midnight, however disappointing it was afterwards. but remaining optimistic for lp7 :) wouldn't mind if this song goes the way of MTM (although how i wish for MTM to have been included in MX!)

i feel that chris especially looks to age more than the rest because he is an insomniac. but generally, the band seem to be in better shape as they get older. just look at the tight shirt will was wearing at iheart :laugh3:
