  1. I remember the band performing at the Super Bowl the following year after 9/11. When that dropcloth came down and all the names of the victims started scrolling...god, that got to me. It was a very respectful way to honor their memories, I think. I completely forgot about their performance at Slane Castle. Yes. Very emotional, indeed, when Bono sang "Kite" (a song which I now fully empathize with him on, as "Kite" was my choice of song to play at my dad's funeral).
  2. Oh, good, glad you gave it another listen, but hey, like what you like, I hope you don't feel like I was thinking everyone's supposed to like that album or something :). Certain stuff just clicks with some people better than others sometimes. I wasn't chronological when I got into the band, either :p. I kinda skipped around. But definitely understand about the moods-some days I'm into listening to one era in particular. And sometimes some songs just took a while to really catch me, sometimes it takes the right moment for a song/album to properly "hit" you, so to speak. You are right, too, about the trilogies, they do seem to like doing that, and each one has a certain sound and theme and coherence about them. You can always tell when the transition to a new "era" is starting. Which I like. From what I've been hearing it seems like Bono's back scare has kinda lit a bit of a fire underneath him, after some of the stresses of the last couple years I think he and the band are itching to revamp their sound once more. Whatever they do, I know I can't wait to hear it-so far I keep hearing 2012, so who knows, we'll see. I'll be keeping my eyes and ears open. If I had to pick my top 5 U2 albums, it'd be: 1. Pop 2. The Joshua Tree 3. The Unforgettable Fire 4. Achtung Baby 5. War And every so often there'll be ties at the 4th and 5th spots because sometimes I can't quite choose-I'll hear another album and think, "Oh, yeah, that should be up there, too". Zooropa is a strange bag for me. I love the first half, but then the latter half gets a bit spotty for me. It has my least favorite U2 song ("Some Days Are Better Than Others"), but then it also has one of my absolute favorite, top 5 U2 songs of all time as well ("Stay (Faraway, So Close)"). But I still do suggest listening to it, because there is some great stuff on there, and your opinion may be different from mine anyway. I'm also curious to hear your thoughts on the first 3 albums when you get around to them, too.
  3. Ya know, I remember when Stephen Colbert said that he could get lost in those baby blues of Chris's...um, yeah, Stephen, I'm right there with you. (Stephen and Chris on the same stage during that "Colbert Report" episode seriously made me one happy, happy girl, 'cause I think both of them are adorable as all get out) Oooh. I'm loving his outfit in this one! I'm a real sucker for men who dress this way.
  4. Ooh, yeah, that's always been one of my favorites off The Joshua Tree. I do love that album, too, that was the first one I ever brought of the band's work. "With Or Without You" is one of those songs I cannot ever get tired of hearing-it'd be desert island material for me. I would have KILLED to see that billing. I freaked like a total fangirl when I saw the clip on YouTube of Edge joining Muse for that cover of "Where The Streets Have No Name" that they did at Glastonbury in 2010. That was so awesome. I'll certainly heed your advice about seeing U2. You're right. Muse and Coldplay have years ahead of them (thankfully). Though, then again, the Stones are celebrating 50 years (!) of being a band this year, so... But still, yes, will do everythiing humanly possible to see U2 at least once in my lifetime. Thanks for that clip, great performance, they sound fantastic (I'm still floored by how much money the 360 tour raked in). Ahhhhh, that album's in my top 5 U2 albums as well. I remember when my family was moving from Wyoming to Colorado in December 2006 I listened to that album the whole trip through Wyoming, and man, it just worked against the cold winter afternoon, the landscape, everything. It's a beautiful album, and I love that Chris Martin's big on "A Sort Of Homecoming", 'cause I love that song a lot, too :). I'd definitely recommend full listen to No Line On The Horizon-that's my favorite of the band's '00s output, actually. As for Achtung Baby, heh, oh, you'd be in a minority with the people I know, a lot of the U2 fans I talk to LOVE that album and hate their recent work. Myself, I love it all. But hey, to each their own *Shrugs*. Plus, "Mysterious Ways" and "One" were when I first really became conscious of U2, and when I was a kid I heard those songs a lot when that album came out, so, you know, childhood memories and such. As for DVDs...well, despite your not being into Achtung Baby, their ZooTV show from Sydney is generally seen as a massive highlight. And so far I think it's still on VHS, I don't know if it's come out on DVD yet, but their show at Red Rocks in 1983 is also notable. I love 'Rattle & Hum'. It's fun to see the band bum around America, there's some great performances ("Bullet The Blue Sky" and "Sunday Bloody Sunday" particularly notable ones), and, well, shallow moment here, but I think Bono looks smokin' HOT in that movie :D.
  5. It always makes me laugh when some people I've encountered get so offended at the thought of Coldplay sounding like U2, calling them "rip-offs" or "copycats" or such. Um, yeah, people, it'd be easier to make a list of artists in the last 10, 20 years who haven't been heavily influenced by U2. And all these years later, bands are going to sound similar. People need to deal with and accept this. /end mini-rant Ha, I've done that, too :). I've also done the thing of, if a CD I like is hidden in the back, I pull it right up to the front, so that everyone can see it and perhaps buy it. I love the "forgot to buy the clock" story, too :laugh3:. That's great.
  6. Oh, good, I'm not the only one who noticed :D. (I'm just loving that outfit on him and the pose he's striking. Holy smokes...) Apparently so. *Walks around all 'Shaun of the Dead' zombie-like* You know, of all the people to be kidnapped by...I could handle being held captive by Chris. Um. Yeah. I keep having crap work dreams. Nothing fun like hanging out with Chris *Pouts*. My brain apparently doesn't like me having fun. As for the rest of the pictures...lovely. And the Lego thing, yeah, if I'd had paparazzi hounding my family, I'd be a little miffed, too. And maybe he couldn't or didn't wish to ride the rides that day for some reason. I've gone places with friends and family where there's rides and they didn't all hop on, either. So...*Shrugs*.
  7. Indeed :). The respect he shows toward her, I was like, "Well, you've just upped yourself in my cool book even more." Ohhhhhhhhh, yeah. Shifting in his seat a bit, tugging at clothing, whatnot. Yep. I don't blame him, though. Heh, well, are those of you who live in other countries familiar with "shock jocks"? Do you have much in the way of them? 'Cause we have a ton of them here in the States, Howard Stern's one of the big ones, and that's pretty much what they do. They do morning radio shows where they make crank calls or have callers say goofy, sometimes obnoxious things, they have juvenile sound effects, and there's an awful lot of schoolboy humor (sex-related stuff, mostly). That's just kinda Howard's thing, the "banging chicks" stuff and whatnot. He just likes to mess with people. Some people find that humor annoying and immature, many others love it, so...eh *Shrugs*. Myself, I don't really care one way or another. Ooh, wow, really? I get migraines, too, so thanks for that note, I'll definitely have to check into that as well. I take it you just rub it on the spot where the headache is, then? Love the pictures here, as usual (hehe, Chris out at an amusement park :D. Whee!). And looks like there's more video to watch! Yay!
  8. *Giggles* That's cute! I like those! (Pretty good drawing abilities, too) Ooh, nice. I agree on the "hearing Coldplay in a public place" thing. One time I was sitting in a coffee shop in the mall, and the song "Parachutes" popped up on whatever it was that was playing. Course, by the time I'm able to really be all, "YAY!" over it, that song's over, but still...:p.
  9. Aw. I'm sorry about your loss .
  10. I couldn't really see well enough to guess (and I don't even pretend to know that people put oil on their throats as it is). It's so funny to hear Chris swear, given how soft his voice is. The words sound completely void of any sort of power or offense when he says them, they sound...sweet :p. I really liked the part where he talked about why he doesn't pop up in the media with Gwenyth all the time. Particularly when he talked about how, when he's out with his band, it's because they're promoting something, and he doesn't want it to come across like that with his wife. I found that a very refreshing, reasonable point of view. It's kinda nice to see a famous person who actually values keeping their private life as genuinely private as possible. And the performances, oh... "The Scientist" alone had me swooning. And I liked hearing "Viva La Vida" on piano, even if he did fluff it up at the end a bit (and I can't argue with Howard, that IS a cool-looking piano) :D.
  11. I want that to happen with me! That'd definitely get me motivated to get up and about a bit. novocaine89, that book is awesome.
  12. Whoa, the picture in that link does weird things to my eyes *Blinks*. The one of him decked out in black and gray is nice. Very handsome.
  13. Thanks for the info. I'll watch these, as well as the other performance clips, later tonight after work :). Right now I'm watching the interview with Howard Stern. It's truly bizarre to see Howard and Chris talking to each other, given each man's vastly different personality, but I'm really liking this so far. Chris is so charming.
  14. *Is impressed* I like the "'Til Kindle Come" one, too. That's cute :D.
  15. All the education in the world can be done through listening to Coldplay :p. (And there go any hopes of me being a role model)
  16. That dances video just warms my heart. I LOVE it when a guy just looks like he's having fun and dancing around all goofy. What's the bit from about 2:11 and 3:44 or so from? In other news...OMFG, when the hell did Chris sing "Hot In Herre"?!?! I need more on that story. That just cracked me up. Loved the video, though-so not only does he have nice arms, but he's got a really nice chest, too. This is good to know. *"Sexy and I Know It" song starts running through her head* My mom had blond hair up until the age of 5, then for some reason it went brown and has been brown ever since. Go figure. Sigh. I absolutely love this getup on him. It's why I love the "Violet Hill" video so much-that video was what finally woke me up to Chris' attractiveness. First time I saw it I was like, "Ooh, cool, new Coldplay song, I...oh." *Does double take* "Ooh. Hellooooooo, Chris!"
  17. "Slowly unzipping my pants"..., I like that. And yeah, I like his take on David Beckham better than the real thing (no offense to anyone who may have a thing for Mr. Beckham). They do have a great-looking group there, yeah. Honestly, if I could go around in life looking like Annie every day, a happy woman I would be. Yay for more "Modern Warfare" love, too. Their little "war" types of episodes are always incredibly fun.
  18. Ta-da! My sentiments exactly. I've never approved of police in schools, but it's indeed becoming increasingly common, sadly. They'd bring them in to do "secret" drug searches ('cause, you know, it's not like kids don't know how to hide things and not put them in the obvious places like lockers), there's "lockdown" drills, the whole nine yards. And guess what? Violence still happens in school. So apparently this isn't working very well. That situation in Texas seems absolutely INSANE, overzealous much? But then again...stories like this from a state that's got a "tough" reputation don't really surprise me all that much. Texas really doesn't do anything for their stereotypes when stories like this pop up. I would implore other countries to not follow our lead on these sorts of issues. It hasn't solved a damn thing.
  19. Oh. My. God. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! And that hair in the second one. *Fingers twitch* That's a good one, too. Shy but sexy. I like his arms. A lot. Um. Yeah.
  20. Aw. His dancing makes me smile :). I get the feeling he truly believes in that whole, "Dance like no one is watching" business. I love that interview. And they did the worm at the end, which was just fantastic. "Fix You" will always have a place in my heart. Always.
  21. Oh. HELL. Yeah. *Mops drool off her keyboard* I've watched that episode way more times than I care to announce. That and "Modern Warfare"...sweet jesus. *Holds out hand* Join the club. I'm not just the president, I'm also a member :D.
  22. Hahaha, oh, that is CUTE. I like it!
  23. LOL. I love Pop, myself, but All That You Can't Leave Behind is fantastic, too. "Walk On" is one of my favorite U2 songs ever, and "Kite" is incredibly personal to me. Aw, yeah, I hope you can, too. That'd be great :). I've yet to see Coldplay as well, so we're in the same boat on two of the bands.
  24. I like those shows, too :). They disturb me to no end and make me want to lock all my doors and windows, but the science and psychology of them are just so fascinating. "Tosh.O" is just finishing up here.
  25. I love that song. Easily one of their best. Couldn't tell you anything about the girl, though. That's so weird that that documentary is edited down. I don't have Showtime, so I can't watch the documentary, and I've yet to get the Achtung Baby set. But I'll keep that in mind. Red Rocks is a super cool place. I saw Muse there in 2007. Never seen U2 live, though-it's a goal of mine to change that in my lifetime.
