1. And yet Coldplay is still the boring melancholy band in everyone's eyes from social media to the news? They haven't done anything "melancholy" or "boring" in years.
2. I'm always confused when people bag on Coldplay this way. It implies that the writer's musical pallet and catalog are so "diverse" and "deep" that they simply can't enjoy Coldplay. All the article does is make them look like a jerk.
3. No doubt, even if I don't like the new album with the fervor I have for some of the others, Coldplay is still such an integral part of my life and memories, I couldn't pass up the chance for anything.
4. Hm, maybe that's why MX's live debuts sounded good as well.
5. If you were in charge of making the Super Bowl setlist, what would it be? Assuming it's 5-6 songs and the goal is to put on the best show, not particularly your personal list. My Lists: 1. Politik 2. Lost! (Organ fades into Talk's opening synth) 3. Talk 4. Viva La Vida 5. Fix You (Do you have time for one more song/We're gonna play one more and then we're gonna go) 6. Twisted Logic ALTERNATIVELY 1. Square One (outro done on acoustic guitar like in the studio version) 2. Yellow 3. In My Place 4. Shiver 5. Viva La Vida (Thanks for supporting us thanks everyone who helped thanks mom thanks dad thanks cameramen th-) 6. Fix You Let's have fun with this :)
6. When they first performed it at the iTunes Festival (2014) I was blown away that they might actually make a comeback to something really great, the whole set made me feel like they were back on the X&Y/AROBTTH style, Albertus Medium and all.
7. I did some research If you take the most popular leading letter from each album (Parachutes being S "Shiver, Spies, Sparks") You get sasluaa. Google it, the fifth result (five members of Coldplay) leads to this webpage http://www.newspapers.com/newspage/69250668/ At the bottom right we can clearly see a message [ENHANCE] Go to your muffin? Uneeda Biscuit? What does it all mean?
8. Maybe a few songs. I have no problems with Always In My Head, it's actually probably towards the top of my list. Most of them however, no.
9. I really like the lyrics at the end of the Lovers demo. I understand the change though, it fits the song better. But "I have no doubt, one day you'll tear my heart out" along with how he sings it is really something.
10. Seriously thank you so much. I couldn't find the iTunes festival anywhere and it's in amazing quality.
11. Midnight was so misleading. If the album was like Midnight it might have been something really good. Instead it was overproduced yet again. So many songs were so close to being SO GOOD. Another's Arms (artistic choices in studio version, live version isn't bad at all) True Love (could have been something like Proof if you want a comparison), Magic needed more Jonny magic and no drum machine (big surprise) and Chris's vocal effects need to be cut.
12. What songs give you a wintery feeling? A Ghost does it for me, especially this particular version because the reverb on the other version is a little off-putting (and the bonus at the end of this helps)
13. Not like it's the first, second, third, or fourth time they've used religion in some way in their songs. The music video feels like I'm getting tossed around in a washing machine. Here's the earliest version of POC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJCJe8hRFrM Better without Rhianna but that's all I can really tell from it. More Jonny ambiance and less thumping and it could have been a much different song.
14. I remember after Viva La Vida being at an all time high with the band and hope for the future. It really felt like they were mastering the genre and were going to release another masterpiece and repeat the high of the Viva era all over again. If you actually listen to the Rock am Ring 2011 versions of Hurts Like Heaven and Charlie Brown they sounded very promising. However the edits made over time after the debut were all for the worse. MX didn't need to be covered in electo vocoder synth paint, it COULD have been much better as a "plainer" rock album. Prime example: Charlie Brown This version has a much more straightforward pacing on the lyrics, no (perceivable) xylophone/piano overlay on Jonny's hook, and the bridge is again, more rock, less pop. Hurts Like Heaven Hard to really tell anything different, HLH has always been performed well live. This is probably the video doing this but the synth track kind of takes a back seat which works great because Jonny's guitar is really what gives this track the flavor. Will's drums are tuned in perfectly in the mix as well.
15. Production value has tanked pretty badly (GS imo is the best produced out of the three). It's subjective up to a point. You can claim that the slight distortion on Chris's reverb (ex. UFO, Up With The Birds being the two that come to mind) is artistic license but Will's percussion across the board is pathetic to say the least on AHFOD. AOAL in particular doesn't even try to hide the compression on his cymbals. (Opinion incoming) The soundstage of AHFOD, instrumental samples, and mastering are at an all time low for the band. Hiring Zoolander and Butthead or whatever their names are has been to date the biggest mistake they've made on personnel.
16. didn't read the thread at all but I'm guessing In My Place Waits for it gave me the idea (How long must you wait for it) Sorry if this was already guessed lol
17. My answer changes everyday, at this point I don't even think I can come up with one. Everything's Not Lost maybe, a nice wholesome sing-a-long for the family.
18. I thought it was called A Head Full Of Dreams.
19. For me it goes AROBTTH 9.9/10 Viva / Parachutes 9.5/10 X&Y 9/10 MX 6.5/10 AHFOD / GS 4.5/10 ; 5/10 on a good day I have a lot of thoughts about each album and why they're in that position but I don't know if I can put it all together lol.
20. Yeah the tracks not included on the cd are so amazing and the videography is very well done. The diary has really funny bits of humor to it like when will is talking about how interviews can ask dumb questions and it cuts to guy talking about his favorite pizza toppings.
21. Luckily we got what I feel like is enough to hold on to, but more would be nice.
22. One thing I really loved about Oldplay is how they always found the right "amount" of sound to put in a song. Everything felt like it could breathe. The piano and melody of Easy to Please do a great job of showing it.
23. Back to business people, I want to see some quality posts. I know I'm a day late but w/e
