  1. That reminds me, I haven't forgot about my analysis on Trouble through the years btw, it'll come soon.
  2. Chris doesn't listen to criticism unless it's from a yes man anymore.
  3. I was reading comments on a recording of "The Dubliners" There's something about this that makes me laugh and cry at the same time.
  4. All time favorite. Such an incredible song.
  5. Us Against The World isn't a snorefest, it's a break in the concert energy, coinciding with them moving to the alt stage. In My Place was second during the MX tour, assuming you count MX and HLH as a package.
  6. I believe that's exactly how the Hal Leonard book for AROBTTH does it. Too lazy to pull it out though. I got Green Eyes, I'll take it. Fix You Up&Up Bad idea, I don't see anything good coming out of it, also... It would be an elaborate hate letter. I understand that sometimes you'd like to grab them by the shoulders and yell at them but it's just a bad idea.
  7. The Howard Stern interview was decent. At least he pushes Chris to talk. He did a pretty solid VLV performance. Life on Mars was nice too.
  8. Has there been a noticeable drop in acoustic versions of their songs? I feel like I could find an acoustic version of nearly every track Viva and back but now it's so scarce. I'm pretty disappointed honestly.
  9. Up&Up is so neutered when they play it like that, I doubt they'll play it like that on tour though. It is nice to see them push Up&Up after HFTW flopped (as far as coldplay expectations go) as a single. Clocks has always been my least favorite song off AROBTTH. Granted, AROBTTH is my favorite album so it's still a song I like but I'm with Will in the opinion that it really brings it home at the end ("Home, home.." etc) Kind of a shame they didn't play anything unexpected but it's not like it was the perfect time for it anyways.
  10. No one even bothers anymore, and they're out of the interview/promotion season so it's unlikely to see them really go track by track, not that I particularly care about AHFOD but I still like to hear Chris talk about the music. I think the only time GS got any discussion was the Zane Lowe interview. Yellow was easily the highest energy point of the MX concert when I saw them.
  11. I wasn't expecting much but this sucked. When's the last time there was an interview that actually talked about the music in some depth?
  12. Thanks for reminding me to wake up early tomorrow! I totally forgot about it.
  13. Does anyone else feel like Viva has unfinished business? I feel like we could get a whole new album from that era's songs and it would be totally fresh.
  14. It's a bit of a reach to imply the chords are the same "but in a different pattern" and when they're in a different key. I didn't bother reading the rest of this but I 100% disagree with whoever said Clocks and Speed of Sound are similar. Clock's refrain uses the same piano motif from the beginning. Speed of Sound motif is used as in interlude between verses, the chorus is a whole new beast. The chord progression is actually pretty unique, G-Bm7-D6-G-Bm-F#m7-G (Speed of Sound is in the key of D). Using the mediant along side the submediant isn't exactly ground breaking but in a rock song it adds some flavor to the mix. All in all anyone who thinks Speed of Sound is recycled is wrong, if I were to compare Clocks to anything it would be Charlie Brown. Hard to say since modern alt "rock" and alt pop is basically all the same. I see it as a bunch of hippies singing kumbaya with synths and "acoustic" instruments. I can't even listen to my local radio stations anymore. Well there's a classic rock station that I like but that's not the point.
  15. This reminds me of that interview during Viva when he said he wanted to make an album for the kids who got beat up on the playground because they listened to Coldplay. I don't know where his head went and what he's making albums for anymore. "We wanted to make a colorful album, er, no, not MX, this is different, somehow."
  16. I would heavily advise against literally all of this
  17. Spies after re watching this Death and All His Friends because I forgot how to play the beginning on piano so I relearned it, also it's just a blast to play and listen to. Strawberry Swing because I've been trying to find a way to make it sound nice on piano.
  18. It's upside down and I can't fit it in my scanner but
  19. Does anyone know if it's still possible to buy lithographs of the first 4 albums?
  20. I was gonna do Yellow but decided Trouble should probably be the choice because they've tinkered around with Yellow a bit over the years where Trouble has stayed mainly the same.
  21. If I have some time tonight I wanna find a song that they've played every era or close to it, so something like Trouble or The Scientist, and compare them.
  22. 1.36 holds a special place in my heart In that whenever I get in my car my phone decides it wants to play it because it's alphanumerically at the top of the list
  23. If Amsterdam counts then Amsterdam 1000% It's my favorite song of all time, it feels like it had such a thoughtful design, and the piano is iconic to me with it's slightly out of tune glory. If not, it's Easy To Please. It's the cousin of Amsterdam.
