After listening to the song about 30 times, I have to say that, rather than growing on me, I'm becoming more and more indifferent to the song. I'm not sure why. In addition, I still can't remember very much about the song. It's difficult to recall anything about the vocals, and even the main guitar riff sounds different from how I remember it whenever I hear the song. Which is disappointing, because even months after the album's release, you'd still be humming to yourself the melody of songs like ETIAW and even Magic.

I might as well speak my mind and say that the song that absolutely deserves to win this elimination is Midnight. No other Coldplay song can convey a sense of ambient and eerie texture. I remember first hearing it and believing that the rest of GS would be as experimental and atmospheric as this. I couldn't have been more disappointed when I finally heard GS in its entirety. But Midnight reminds us that Coldplay once was a daring, talented band capable of so much more than run-of-the-mill pop. And we know they still have it in them. They just need to put that talent to good use. ;)

I hope Noel and Beyonce do some vocal harmonies. Listen to Cast No Shadow to see what I'm talking about. ;) I'm not a Beyonce fan so I don't know how she does harmonies but I've a feeling that she'd be pretty good at them.

5 minutes? Coldplay seem to have an aversion to writing songs longer than that!

She meant that it was bland, uninspired, and only meant to be played in elevators. I disagree but she's got a bit of a point, it is quite safe, despite the new and fresh sound! ;)

First impressions: THANK FUCK that it isn't EDM!! I was afraid ever since Chris dropped the title "A Head Full of Dreams" that it'd be an album of ASFOS. I was pleasantly surprised that the main guitar riff is slightly psychedelic, as are those chopped up vocal harmonies and even the outro of "woo-hoo"s! The production is like a much cleaner MX, which is a good thing. While I haven't listened closely to lyrics, on first listen they seem really forgettable and as cringe-worthy. The exciting and original feel of the song makes up for it though. But at the same time, I can't really get into it.... Nothing about it at the moment really grabs me, so to speak. However, I hated Paradise on first listen, but now it's one of my favorite Coldplay songs! So it may turn out that this one becomes a favorite of mine as well. ;)

I'm probably wrong about this, but isn't it possible that this song could be the same one that Coldplay gave to Natalie Imbruglia? After all, why would an artist write two songs with the same title? Natalie's version of Fun is great, so I'm not even sure if I want to hear a Coldplay version or not, especially if it's featuring another artist.

Clocks. Fix You is barely better because of its emotion and anthemic qualities. Though the space and texture of Clocks is something amazing that the band has been unable to replicate since. ;)

I just thought of another elimination game we can play. Instead of voting to eliminate the song which you like least each round, vote to save the song you think is best. ;) Then we'll end up with the worst song from that era and then we can do a "worst of the worst" salvation game (if we could call it that ha ha) of the worsts of every era. What do you guys think?
