So now it is time to eliminate Coldplay's fifth LP, the controversial Mylo Xyloto. Hated by Oldplayers and revered by Newplayers, opinion is split over whether this is a good album. It's not my favorite album by any means but I like it. It's pretty cohesive despite some weak points and it's good fun even if the songs aren't the best. But which song is the best? I'd love to see this game continue! Don't think I'd object to the fact that this thread exists, this is an internet forum after all, you're free to do whatever you want! I couldn't object if there were six additional elimination threads going at the same time in addition to the VLV one! :) I'll bump the thread with this post, hopefully you can get more people to participate! :)

Btw there's nothing wrong with advocating a certain position because it benefits your cause (i.e. it gets a certain song eliminated :P )!! That's what people do in politics, after all. ;)

Btw, since there seems to be a dispute over the round lengths and ending the rounds, I'll say that I try to keep the rounds 24 hours long. Sometimes, like yesterday, I'm quite busy and don't have the time to log on and end the rounds. I seem to have gone with the semi-official rule of having the rounds end only when I end them, but that rule can be changed if people want me to only count the votes made in the 24 hours after the beginning of the round. I will also point out for those curious that I have also ended rounds early because I knew I wouldn't have time later to end the round. In any case, since rule changes won't affect the rounds that happened before the change, I decided to count @arushofjacktothehead's vote for DAAHF. But in this instance his vote didn't change the outcome of the round. :) And I welcome people to point out any mistakes I might've made in counting. I'm only human, after all. ;)

A shorter album, if done properly, can feel more concise and be just as good. Sgt. Pepper, Pet Sounds, My Generation, and The Queen Is Dead are examples of classic albums which are less than 42 minutes. This is why some artists like Radiohead are making a shift toward shorter albums (TKOL is 37 minutes) under 40 minutes, kinda like how Coldplay tries to make their albums around 42 minutes. Longer albums can be tedious and can lose the listener's attention if they drag on too much. But that's not to say that there aren't plenty of classic longer albums too. However, adding songs to an album for the sake of adding songs really corrupts the purpose of an album. An album is really supposed to be a cohesive unit of songs which flow together and are united by musical similarities or lyrical themes. Adding extra songs is why nowadays I never buy "deluxe" editions of albums, because tacking on additional songs can disrupt the flow of the album. Does it make any sense for All Your Friends, Ghost Story, and O (reprise) to come on after O? Not to me anyway, the album finishes perfectly with O, and it feels wrong to tack on additional tracks.
